Chapter 5

The next morning, the sun was blazing brightly in the sky. Avery woke up and got ready for the day as she laid the bed but before she could finish, the maids already came to do it. Avery was about to leave the room when she saw her so called husband right in front of the door entrance. She gulped nervously as her heart skipped a beat. Oh hell no, she can't fall for him. Avery! He called her name with his deep manly voice. Avery was once again lost in his gaze and before she knew it, his hands cupped her cheeks. Avery, what a beautiful name. He said leaving her cheeks and Avery was brought back to reality. Avery swallowed and moved back. Uhm, I signed the documents already. She said looking everywhere avoiding his gaze.

I know. He said. Uhm what's your name? She finally asked looking at him. I am the most dangerous CEO and a billionaire in the world. Everyone knows me as James Smith. He said proudly.But... You can call me James. He finally added. Avery, today is the gala party. You must be present. I need to make some introductions. He said before he walked away. Avery sigh and was about to call Lily when she saw lots of missed call from lily. She quickly called her back. Hello lily? Sorry I missed your call. She apologize. No problem. I just wanted to inform you that your mother and some men went to your house. Lily said calmly. Uhm why tho. ? She asked. I don't know. Lily answered honestly okay thanks. Avery said and they chatted awhile before they ended the call. Avery went downstairs to the huge dining hall to have her breakfast. While she was eating, one of the maids came in head bow holding a shopping bag. My lady, the boss says I should give you this. She said. What's that? Asked Avery. It's a dress for tonight event. She said and Avery took it from her and rounded up her eating before she went to her room.

Meanwhile,in Becky mansion

She was staring at a black dress covered in glittering diamonds. Her eyes zoomed on her phone. She was expecting a call from him but he hasn't even call. She had purposely not call him because of their fight. She could remembered vividly the day James had proposed to her but she rejected him. She wanted to know if James still love her. So she decided to continue to play hard to get. She thought but then since the day she find out from her step mom that her daughter from her first marriage might end up being James wife. Becky sigh heavily. If she had known, she won't have rejected him. She thought gloomily. The day went fast and evening finally came. Avery was dressed in the most expensive pretty red dress. It was sleeveless as the beautiful dress curved her body perfectly bringing out her hidden curves. Avery was a natural beauty but tonight exceeded it. It was red sleeveless ball gown covered in glitters and tiny diamonds.

She wore her black heel and took her red purse. Her black wavy hair was let down beautifully. She was outrageously beautiful tonight. She left the room and slowly went downstairs. She was escorted by some maids. But James wasn't around. So he was unable to drop her at the smiths resident. The driver opened the door of the car for her to enter. She entered and the car drove in max speed. While the drive was ongoing, Avery was lost in thoughts. She didn't know what kind of family is James from. Are they the proud type or the nice type?? She had heard many stories about the proud and arrogant rich families. But what could she do. As the drive began to slowed down, Avery couldn't help but admire the tall trees. The drive was so long and smooth that Avery became more intense and nervous. After a long drive. The awaited moment came.....

The car parked in front of a huge golden gate unlike James own whose huge gate was pure white. The golden gate yawned opened and the car drove in. And packed in front of the entrance. Avery slowly opened the door and slowly stepped out. She was expecting to see journalist and photographers but none was there. What a strange gala party. She thought and was escorted inside. As she stepped fully inside, Avery froze to the ground. All her nervousness died down the moment she saw a familiar person. All eyes slowly turned to the red goddess. The smith family were filled with high pride and arrogance. Who is this damsel?? A mocking voice asked. She was a Smith and her name is Olive. She is the eldest sister of James Smith.

Oh you all haven't met her yet?? Another mocking voice said. It was none other than Avery mum. Avery felt totally embarrassed and hurt. She hasn't even done an introduction yet and they were all hurling insults at her. Oh God! What will her mother say to her? She thought. Who is she ? Mrs Smith asked as she stared at Avery from head to toe. She is here to look for man to marry her that's why. And she is a who.....

ENOUGH!!!!!A thunderous voice echoed in the party startling everyone even the background music stopped. The thunderous voice was none other than James Smith. He was coming down from the staircase. He stopped in front of everyone his eyes fixated on Avery who was at the verge of crying. She is now a member of the smith. She is now my wife. He declared loud enough shocking everyone except Avery mum. Since when?? Mr Smith asked coldly. But James didn't reply as he walked towards Avery. I won't let anyone insult you. He whispered for only her to here. This was the scene Becky met as the gift box fell from her hands. What!!!!!??? What wife? What are you talking about?? Becky asked puzzled. Can someone tell me what's going on here? She demanded. He is telling the truth. Avery mum said walking with elegance. Her father made a deal here with James Smith using his daughter as a bet. He told James that if he is unable to pay the one billion he borrowed, James should take his daughter for GOOD. Avery mum explained calmly stretching that good part. Mumm? Becky said eyes wide shocking Avery. Mum, pls don't tell me this filthy rags is the one you have been talking about? Becky pointed at Avery. Yes. She is ! Avery mum said. James, how could you do this to me. I love you. Becky said staring deeply into his eyes. But James just walked away. He wasn't in the mood for all this family drama. He had many more important things to do.

Becky couldn't help but cry heavily. Was this the reason why she was feeling uneasy. She cried And angrily went upstairs. You! You are a bad luck. Olive said and angrily left. Grandma smith walked towards Avery and held her hands. Dear, welcome to the family. She said warmly. Thanks old one. Avery managed a smile. You can call me grandma. Grandma smith smiled. Avery nodded and hugged her. Avery felt relax. Mrs Smith also walked towards Avery and hugged her and welcomed her to the family. Avery felt happy that two people from the smith family loved her already. Mr Smith hissed and took a glass of liquor and went upstairs. Mrs Smith smiled. Nina was James kid sister. She too also welcome Avery and liked her. The party began and was filled with fun through out the night.
