----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Read on mobile device for best experience. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Having lost his parents at a young age and not having access to a home since it had burned to the ground after a sudden outburst of flames, Arthur was taken in by the council of sorcery. Not because they had felt sympathy for him but simply due to the fact that even though his parents had been burned to ashes, Arthur did not even have a single scratch on his body. Now intrigued by the boy, the council of sorcery sent their most obedient servant; the one they call “the inspector” to relocate Arthur into a prestigious school so that his strength could bloom so that they could have a powerful ally in the future. Even so, the council of sorcery commanded that the school treated him like trash. This was because Arthur’s parents were quite powerful in their prime and as such were sought after by the council of sorcery. Even though it was an amazing offer for Arthur’s parents, they refused which invoked the long lasting rage of the council of sorcery. In a world full of factions that try to sway the tides of power to their own side, Arthur must now learn how to grow strong so he could finally find the person who had killed his parents and get revenge for the years of torment that the council of sorcery had put him through. Although he just might get quite a bit more than he bargained for. —————————————————————————————————————————— Note: This story will be quite long since there are a lot of things that need to be covered in the story. Sadly though, I’m fueled by compliments so the more people that enjoy this novel, the more I can write. Schedule plan for this novel is 2 chapters a day, 1000+ words each or if does quite well, it will be moved up to 3 chapters a day (same number of words each). —————————————————————————————————————————— Hope you enjoy this novel though, happy reading.
"Although I could simply accept the first hit which would do no actual damage to me then finish him off, I want to make this a challenge for myself, I want to see just how far I can push this body of mine," said Arthur as he continued to dodge the punches that his opponent were throwing at him. He analyzed for any opportunity to strike his opponent however there was not a single one and his opponent was relentless. Even though by this point Arthur had been dodging the attacks for 10 minutes straight, his opponent's attacks didn't seem to be even a slight bit slower.
"This is getting a bit boring, I should bring this to an end," said Arthur as he closed his eyes all while he dodged his opponent's punches.
"Tier 2 Spell: Flame Overflow"
Using this spell, Arthur completely covered the arena with his flames which instantly forced his opponent to stop punching and walk away. As for Arthur, he stepped forward to land a finishing blow before snapping his fingers and forcing the flames to disappear.
Instantly the crowd began to clap in excitement as they thought that Arthur would lose the battle due to him being on the defensive end of the battle for quite a long time. Even so, at the end, Arthur came out victorious.
After Arthur's match, the final division which consisted of anyone over the age of 21 began its final battle as well as the first division which allowed competitors from ages 0 to 10 began. Although everyone was excited, Arthur simply went to sleep which the competitors saw as an insult and as such held a grudge against Arthur which they planned to get their revenge on after their current match.
…
After the match concluded, it was announced that the final match which was a 3 way battle between the 3 winners from every division would take place the following day. Hearing that, Yosel woke up Arthur and told him that it was time for the to go.
After the 3 teleported back to the island, Yosel was preparing to leap on the tree so that he could sleep since he was getting used to getting kicked out of his own home.
As Willam was heading towards the house though, Arthur held him by the shoulder and stopped him.
"What's wrong Arthur?" Willam asked.
"If you don't mind I have a favour to ask. Well, technically I have 2 favours to ask if you," Arthur replied.
"What can I help you with?" Willam replied in a kind voice.
"Well, I want to train one last time," said Arthur which made Willam confused.
"But tomorrow is your big day, it would be much better for you to sleep today so you can be at full power tomorrow," said Willam.
"I understand where you're coming from however during the last match I was in, I couldn't dodge and attack my opponent like I did previously. He made it impossible for me to do two things at once. That broke me down and I don't want my opponent to feel as if they have the advantage for even a second," Arthur explained which caused Willam to smile.
"I understand, what's your second request then?" Willam asked.
"Well, I've heard quite a bit about dungeons but I've never been told what they truly are and I've always been curious, do you by any chance happen to know what they are?" Arthur asked to which Willam gave a nod with a face that was interested.
"Sure, I can explain that to you however it'll take some time so let's do it while I train you," said Willam to which Arthur nodded and stood still and requested Willam to start attacking him. During that night, the two trained while Yosel simply ignored them and took the opportunity to sleep in his house.
"Well, you see Arthur, dungeons are a place which monsters live. Since you said that you don't know much about dungeons, I'm assuming that you don't know what monsters are either. They can range from modified animals such as hellhounds to large alien like figures ranging in all colours. They could be mythical beasts like dragons or small goblins which surround you and use their numbers to over power you. Either way, when you're inside a dungeon, your only mission is to kill all the monsters and make it out alive," Willam began to explain.
"Dungeons are located all around this world. They're all entered through magical portals which are called gateways. They're large empty doors which are covered in a mystical substance which when crossed through allow a person to go inside a dungeon. Something like a door that allows you to teleport to another dimension to fight," Willam continued to speak as Arthur continued to dodge the punches while still being hit by nearly all of them.
"You might be thinking that it makes no sense for a person to enter the dungeon since it's dangerous and offers nothing in return, however you would be mistaken. You see, some of the best artifacts which people use in battle come from dungeons. The better the user, the more efficient the blade or armour. Moreover, they dungeons are known to allow a person to increase their strength quite a whole lot. As for the equipment, it all depends on the user of them. However there are cases where the equipment by itself can be the sole difference as the rarer ones have so many amazing abilities that no matter the user, they'll be a terrifying weapon. If you remember the kid who you defeated quite a while back and was sent to prison for that or was at least supposed to have been sent for but you just came there yourself has a set of armour like what I described," Willam said to which Arthur with a laugh however Arthur had began to remember one of his first opponents which was supposed to be the heir to some large gold company that had the armour which absorbed anyone's attacks then deflected them. At the time, Arthur didn't think that they were anything special however he now wanted that set of armour for himself. He only thought of this now due to the explanation that Willam as giving him.
"So is there something that I need to do before entering the dungeons or can anyone walk through them?" Arthur asked.
"Actually, you can just walk through the dungeon gates however there is always an engraving on the stone part of the dungeon gate that tells someone to place their hand on the gate and if it turns red it means they're too weak and if it turns blue, it means that they're at least the minimum strength to challenge the dungeon," Willam replied which lit a fire in Arthur's eyes as he now had a new goal to pursue.
