Confessions of a Drama Queen

It had never crossed her mind, that Mandy Gilbert, would live in her imaginary life when the boy she had a crush on since primary school, Justin Bedington, chose her to be his wife. Mandy knew Justin for as long as she remembered. She was only able to look at him through an untouchable wall known as ‘reality’. Justin is crazy rich, the son of a CEO in a multi-billion company in the U.S. Being surrounded by countless pretty girls, selected as head of the Student Council, brilliant, a social butterfly, and a highly dedicated person he was, didn’t make Justin got easily overwhelmed by that. Though he lived in a world full of loving gaze in any where he went, he gave zero care in it—even when almost half of the girls on this planet were head over heels in him. But who knew, his final choice was Mandy. Since their dramatic and ridiculous meeting, Justin thought that girl is amusing, funny, and known as a trouble maker girl who often gets over-dramatic at school. Justin first encountered her at a party, and from then on, he knew that this girl is one of a kind, so he chose her to be his wife. But who thought Mandy would live her new life in peace? The Drama Queen faced countless dilemmas revolving around Justin; from his sexy assistant, a gorgeous widow next to their house, and also, an obsessed teenager. Mandy couldn’t stand all the girls’ hysteria every time they were around him. Adding to that, the trust that was given by Justin, made Mandy feel as if she was ignored and invisible. In Mandy’s little mind, marrying someone of her dream would lead her to a life full of happiness—as seen in fairy tales. However, marriage life wasn’t as good as she thought. Problems after problems appeared unexpectedly. Starting from Justin’s anger toward Mandy who ruined the most important event in his life, being shunned by her best friend due to misunderstanding, to the revenge carried out by her school friends that put Mandy in danger. Mandy only had her journal—the only thing she could write her feelings, lies, and all the secrets. So, how did the drama queen overcome the problems she faced and admitted all the biggest secrets that separated Mandy from her loved ones?

Watching A Show with My Crush

[Mandy's Diary st Senior Grade]

Justin asked me to go watch a theater show at school tonight. He asked me to go. For the first time. And it felt like my legs went limp like jelly. I wanted to slap my cheek to make sure this wasn't a dream.

"Ouch!" I screamed after my hand flew to slap my cheek. It hurt. Then this wasn't a dream, for the sake of Gandalf's beard.

"Stop slapping your cheeks because you're not dreaming!" Candice's shrill voice came from the doorway. She came over with sparkling eyes, looking at me like I was a treasure chest. I took a deep breath, looked back at the mirror, and looked at my face, making sure there weren't any pimples there.

"I still don't believe myself. Gosh, that's Justin Bedington, Candice." In the end, I looked back at Candice who was already lying on my bed with her arms dangling under the bed. "He rarely asks the girls around him on dates. Uh, nope." I hit myself in the head. The devil on my shoulder shook his head thinking I was stupid in choosing words. Date? Haha, no. "I mean, go out together, watch a theater show, what a damn thing you call it."

Candice's lips curled downwards. She jumped out of my bed, walked cheerfully like a pressed spring toward me, and turned me to face the mirror.

"You are no less beautiful than Rebekah or April. You are more natural."

LOL. I felt like a 'pick me girl'.

"Except for my cheek. I look like a pig." I snorted softly pressing my cheeks, making my lips part in an O shape.

"No, your body is in a good shape, so stop dieting." Candice's eyeballs rolled upwards. "You're already skinny, for God's sake."

I pressed my lips together to form a straight line. I took a deep breath, letting my lungs work to collect the air in my room before looking up at Candice who was standing behind me.

"Thanks, Candice. You've helped me a lot so far."

Candice smiled a little. He patted his hand on my shoulder, shrugging her shoulders and wrinkling her nose. "Now, go shower and get ready before Justin picks you up."

My heartbeat loudly again. I guessed it was either the devil or the angel on top of my shoulder who tapped their wand there making it beat so loudly that it nearly burst my chest cavity. Candice advised me to take deep breaths, and let them out slowly, over and over again until I started to feel calm.

I'd told you many times, that I'd be the center of attention for people who attended Jordan High School's theater club show. My cheeks almost burned because of the heat getting stares from various eyes around me. I bit my lower lip, fiddling with my fingers looking at the mixed views from them. My eyes glanced to the side slightly, seeing Justin's apathetic expression which seemed normal. Of course, he was acting normal. What's the point of bringing a girl like me here?

We took a seat in the front row. Justin got VVIP tickets which is why we sat in the front row. I moved restlessly and cleared my throat slowly feeling my dry throat while looking around the place.

"Are you okay?" Justin asked suddenly beside me, noticing my nervousness.

A wide smile spreads across my lips, pulling my cheeks up. Damn, that's the most anti-dose smile I've ever given anyone. "I'm fine." I'd rather just avert my eyes than embarrass myself in front of him with my stupid face.

The lights in the auditorium had been turned off. Not long after, the stage mosquito net was pulled apart revealing a new, more dim light. Show starts. But how can I calm down when I'm sitting next to the school superstar boy I'd been crazy about since childhood? I tapped my fingers. The angel on my shoulder helped me calm myself while the devil tried to distract me.

Shit. I couldn't concentrate on enjoying this show.
