Ye Fan remained at the police station, engaged in discussions about constructing the base vehicle with four engineers.

Engineer Luo Jiaxin presented the plan, "Sir, the preliminary materials for the base vehicle have been identified. We currently require a significant amount of steel. Please arrange for 500 tons, and then create a warehouse for us. The dimensions should be no less than 80 meters in length, 80 meters in width, and 50 meters in height for convenient construction."

"We need such a large warehouse."

"Yes, for internal operations in the warehouse, you will also need to send troops to guard it. Send no less than fifty soldiers to assist us with basic work. This will improve work efficiency."

"Alright, I understand. Let's make arrangements now."

Ye Fan knew of a suitable warehouse in Chengguan Town, the abandoned grain depot. He instructed the troops to secure it and allow engineers to start construction.

For the steel, there were several nearby factories that could meet the production needs. The base vehicle was expected to be sizable with a thousand tons of steel.

Ye Fan informed the troops to seize the grain depot, and the engineers could begin working there. The troops were also directed to collect additional needed materials such as generators, lighting equipment, lathes, and metals.

He considered using small lathes in Chengguan Town initially and exploring larger factories in the suburbs of Lingshui County later when the army expanded.

The engineer made the request and left, anticipating entry into the warehouse to commence construction the same day.

The construction of the base vehicle progressed on the right track. If everything proceeded as planned, Ye Fan could witness the completion of the vehicle in half a month, accompanied by an essential task – determining the location for building the base.

In the director's office, there was a large and detailed topographic map of the province. Ye Fan, with a pen in hand, contemplated suitable locations.

He concluded that Chengguan Town wouldn't serve as a permanent base due to various shortcomings. Ye Fan envisioned a location with plains and nearby mining areas, crucial for future development.

After extensive consideration, he narrowed down the options to two places in the province. One was close to the Rakshasa border, offering mines and plains but with a smaller population. The other was a backing farm in the Sanjiang Plain, featuring a gold mine but with limited reserves.

Ye Fan settled on the backing farm, despite its zombie-infested surroundings. He believed a well-constructed wall could ensure safety. Drawing a check mark on the map, he decided the location for the base construction.

According to his budget, he needed to accumulate over 100,000 units of money before considering building the base. Nana had informed him that physical buildings and equipment in the future would be expensive.

Ye Fan aimed to gather resources through mining, considering jewelry from zombies and other temporary methods insufficient. He realized the importance of mining for future financial resources.

The engineer, returning with the requested materials, marked the beginning of a hectic day. Ye Fan pondered over the gains from the ongoing battle, considering his promotion to battalion commander dependent on the amount of gold acquired.

Suddenly, Nana alerted him about a supply box located at the town government building. Eager to see what valuable items it contained, Ye Fan sent Second Platoon Leader Shen Ruihui to retrieve it.

Shen Ruihui, however, requested Ye Fan to change his perspective. Upon doing so, Ye Fan was shocked by the scene that unfolded – the town government building had collapsed, revealing a scorched pit beneath. Mutated zombies and a potentially colossal threat awaited.
