The Uchiha promise

Its been a week since the encounter with orochimaru in the forest of death. Since then I've had this marking on my neck that I thought was a scar but turns out it's not. Just a couple more days till I leave this village and I haven't broken the news to naruto...Fuck. This shouldn't be as hard as it is but there is no way to break this to him without breaking his heart. I love the idiot down to every little imperfection so it's hard to just leave him but I have to. As I was still writing the letter to tell naruto there was a knock on my door, by the soft knocks I can probably guess who it is but I still get up and check first anyways once I see it's naruto I walk back over to the desk and hide the letter before walking back over to the door. Don't he know its 1:30 in the morning? "What is it dobe" I ask as I open the door. "Shut up teme but I can't sleep can I crash here?" He's lucky I love him otherwise I would've slammed the door straight in his face. "Fine come on in" I tell the smiling blonde who so happens to be wearing my hoodie. "You hungry?" I ask softly over at his house all he has to eat is Ramen which isn't too healthy "Yeah can I have Ramen or kustudan?" He asks with his eyes wide practically begging me to say yes "Fine go get comfortable" I tell him as i grab the ingredients out the cupboard and cabinets and begin to cook. After a while I wasn't paying attention and naruto had snuck behind me and wrapped his arms around my waist startling me a little bit but not to where he can notice. He notice my face and neck go red and he quickly let's go "I'm sorry sasuke I was just trying to hig you" the dobe said rubbing the back of his head a blush also evident on his face "Its alright naruto" I say as I hand him the bowl of Ramen and he sits on the couch and turns the TV on. "Sasuke? Can you promise me something?" Naruto asks worried "Sure what is it naru?" Respond noticing his change in demeanor and ruffling his hair. "Can you promise not to leave or froget about me?" I sigh as i realise that im going to have to break it "i can try all i want naruto" "oh okay i'm sleeping in the guest room still right?" He asked face still engrossed into the TV and his Ramen. The only reason naruto sleeps in the guest room is because the room that my late parents had given him is in the area where the massacre happened and he nor I is comfortable with him sleeping there. "If you want I still need to go grab your stuff from over there" There would be no point since I'm leaving midnight in 4 days. I sigh as I go upstairs to my room and shut my door going back to my desk and working on the letter I didn't even notice I was crying till I saw the ink on the paper running. I walked to my bathroom to get some paper towels and I cam back and cleaned it up it was still readable thankfully. I had just finished the letter when I hear little footsteps walking towards my room so I put the letter in the drawer and grab a book and pretend to read it. And just as my door swings open there is a sweaty tired naruto standing in at my door frame. "What's wrong naru? Can't sleep?" I ask him turning off my lamp light and walking over "Nightmares again" Naruto has had nightmares since itachi left and my parents died . I lay down in my bed as he lays down beside me curling into a ball and drifting to sleep. I resist the urge to pull him close and let him know he is mine but at the end of the day we are bestfriends but we can be much, much more Friends
