Kibe walked himself out of the auditorium.
"A small meeting, eyes everywhere, and yet no words spoken about Tatsuo or the fact that Takashi was there that night. Could they be plotting some form of blackmail? No, if they wanted it done that way they would have. So why not? Why not do so?
...Nothing is adding up. Then again, if things do go those ways, then I will act accordingly. As it so stands, every action is met with a reaction." Kibe said as he continued to walk towards the baseball field where he was just in time to see Mi miss her third ball.
"STRIKE! You're out Mi." said a flamboyant student, Mi cursed under her breath as she walked over to the bleachers and sat down.
"How'd it go?" Kibe asked completely scaring Mi.
"Goodness! You gave me a fright, how often do you just disappear like that? What is even is it that you do to blend in like that?" Mi asked
"Humans are used to seeing the bizarre, the weird, and the exciting. When it comes to the bland, sure they may see it at first, but see it too many times and then it becomes just as apparent as a dust mite." Kibe answered as he took off his outer coat to his school uniform.
"How'd it go? Did they ask you to join them? I always felt like you'd make a great president." Mi said
"No, just asked some questions about Tatsuo." Kibe said
"Poor guy, I wonder what could have made him go over the edge like that. He seemed so confident about himself." Mi said with Kibe remaining silent. Mi's eyes looked over at Kibe, She didn't want to say it, but she had a feeling that Kibe might have something to do with what happened.
"Hey, were you-" Before Mi could speak though, Ryota would shout at them.
"HEY! Kibe! You wanna come over and try a few swings? The new students are having a blast." Ryota said, Mi closed her mouth as she looked at Kibe. Kibe's eyes wandered around for a moment. Not trying to draw any attention to himself he decided to go and give it a try.
"Kibe? Since when did you play sports?" Mi asked as Kibe walked towards them.
"So, what are you feeling? Easy or-"
"Let's just play." Kibe said with a cold tone as he stood on 1st place, Ryota shrugged as he then walked over to the middle. Kibe looked around and saw students talking and chatting on the grassy fields around them, some couples and others friends. Mi seemed to even find her friends, which meant he was alone. The day was bright and the wind blowing, Kibe could feel the energy coming from everyone here. They all were hyped about playing and looked to be ready for anything. Kibe stood there for a moment before being handed a steel bat by Ryota.
"Alright, everyone ready?" Ryota shouted as everyone gave a thumbs up, Kibe just got ready too. He didn't intend to win, but he didn't seek to lose either. Just play as any other student would, Kibe then watched as the pitcher swung the ball at him at a crazy pace. However Kibe would feel eyes on him, not like the eyes of those around him, but as if he could feel like someone was watching him. With his attention taken away from the ball it would go to nail him right on the head. Everyone gasped in shock.
"HEY! YOU ALRIGHT!" Ryota asked in a panic, but was even more shocked to see Kibe hadn't reacted to being struck. Its likes as if nothing had hit him at all.
"Uhh, hey bud." Ryota said which snapped Kibe out of his trance, he looked at him and then at the ground where he saw the ball at his feet.
"Oh, sorry. I got distracted. Can we go again?" Kibe asked to which everyone looked at one another.
"Yeah, sure." Ryota said, he didn't bother telling him to get checked out, Ryota could tell that Kibe wasn't normal. He just didn't know in what way. Kibe kicked the ball back over to the pitcher.
"Alright pal, I'm gonna throw it again. Don't just stand there." said the pitcher to which Kibe gave a small thumbs up. The pitcher then wound back and hurled the ball at Kibe, At that moment Kibe had to decide rather he should hit it or not. Hitting a home run would make him stand out too much, hitting it too weak will either result in some asking him why hes so weak. So the proper conclusion was to just hit decently far. Kibe then would hit the ball, scoring it way across the field allowing for everyone and himself to run to home plate.
"Wow, that was a hell of a hit there friend. You got some skill." Ryota said
"Nah, just got lucky on that hit." Kibe said
"Maybe, but still good. Maybe you should drop by my father's dojo sometime. We could use another good man in there." Ryota said
"No thanks." Kibe said as he started walking off.
"Wait where are you going? We still have a little more of the game to go through." Ryota said
"I don't." Kibe said to himself, he walked over to the bleachers and sat down. He grabbed the coat of his uniform and put it on.
"Nice butt." someone said, Kibe looked around, the unexpected "compliment?" was well...unexpected. He looked right under him. Where he saw a girl with short black hair sitting beneath the bleachers.
"Down here." She waved, her voice was raspy and dry sounding. Kibe dropped behind the bleachers and looked at her as she stared at him, Kibe could tell from a glance she was the one. She was the one who was staring at him. Her hair was cut short, shorter than short really. She had an eyebrow, lip, nose, and when she spoke, a tongue piercing. Her skin looked pale and her nails were black and she had dark eyeshadow on too. Her outfit was modified, her skirt was longer than any other girl's.
"I reckon your one of the new transfers that came over today." Kibe said
"What gave it away." the girl said as she stayed sitting down.
"What's your name?" asked the pale girl
"Kibe, Nori Kibe." Kibe answered
"Well, Kiiibe, you shouldn't give people false hope." the pale girl said
"I don't know what you're talking about." He replied
"I can tell you didn't want to go over there and I can tell that you weren't giving it your best." the pale girl said
"What's your name?" Kibe asked
"Kat." the pale girl said
"Kat?" Kibe said
"Yes. I'm glad you know how to say it." Kat said as she turned back to the field. Kibe looked at her before he got ready to walk away.
"Kibe." Kat shouted at him. Kibe looked back at her.
"Don't worry about me. I'm not interested in what you're doing. But I do like to watch." she said to which Kibe then continued to walk away. He looked around for Mi for a moment, but ultimately decided to walk inside when he couldn't find her. As he was walking the halls towards his class he saw Aki looking out a window in a lone hallway.
"Akia" Kibe said getting her attention
"Kibe...guess your here for answers..." Akia said
"Yes, now answer them. What is going on with you?" Kibe asked
"...I-I...the world isn't what you think it is. The people, the animals, and even the buildings. None of them are what they seem, I saw it at my old school. Someone they..." Akia stuttered on her words, hesitation clogging her throat.
"They what?" Kibe asked
"Nori Kibe!" shouted a familiar voice, Kibe and Akia looked back and saw Hideaki and Takashi walking down the hall towards them. Odd timing on their part.
"Glad to see you, enjoying the festivities?" Takashi asked with a smile
"As much as I ever do." Kibe answered
"Who's your friend? Partner maybe?" Hideaki asked
"Romance is not something I am currently pursuing." Kibe answered
"Hehe, always so articulate. You know if your ever looking for purpose beyond school. The stud-"
"No thanks." Kibe said
"Oh?" Hideaki said
"All organizations fall under two categories, either they are the causes behind the chaos of the world or they profit from it." Kibe said
"Hehe, Well I'll assure you we don't do either." Hideaki said
"That's what they all say." Kibe said, the two stared at each other, the wind flowing through the hallway from the open window made it feel as if the two were walking twisters, their words spinning around one another like a typhoon. The only question was which one was going to get sucked in first.
"I believe my previous observation of you may have been, invalid. I judged you as someone who seems to have their life figured out, but it would seem that you have much more than that." Hideaki said his words still sounding like a lecture. Akia felt like she was millions of miles beneath these two, their words and their way of speaking made them sound like rulers. Of what? Who's to say.
"Observations are for studying what we don't quite understand. There's no need for you to do such with me." Kibe said
"And why is that?" Hideaki asked
"Nothing is interesting about me, I promise you. I'm as ordinary as can be." Kibe answered
"Oh I don't think so, I believe you may in fact be the most interesting person I've ever met." Hideaki said as he took a few steps to Kibe, the two face to face now. With Hideaki being just a foot taller than Kibe.
"And I intend to find out in what way that may be." Hideaki said with a smile
"You'll be wasting your time." Kibe said
"No time is wasted so long as it is of your choosing, we only waste time when spent on anything other than ourselves." Hideaki said
"..."
That's when the school bell would ring symbolizing classes had gotten back into session.
"Oh well, seems our chat will have to wait for another time. Hope you make it to your class on time." Takashi said
"It's right around the corner, I'll live." Kibe said
"Hm, alright then. Well, let's go Akia." Hideaki said Kibe's eyes looked back to her.
"Huh?" She said
"Your class is in a different building, yes? I figure I may as well walk you there." Takashi said, Akia looked at Kibe and then walked away with Takashi as students began to fill the hallway, they're voices and chattering almost deafening. Kibe and Hideaki still looking at one another. And with that, the students around them soon turned to nothing, in a blackness deeper than void they were the only two there. Their eyes searching for weakness. A twitch of the palm or glance away from the eyes. They searched each other. Though they saw nothing. Nothing to tell them about each other.
It would be a minute to them, but for the outsiders, to them, it was mere seconds, not even that. Kibe and Hideaki would then turn from one another and walk away. Once Kibe entered his classroom he saw a man wearing a long black coat, his hair was jet black and his eyes brown, A young girl next to him would be wearing the school uniform. His daughter perhaps. She had blonde hair and oceanic blue eyes. That's when the teacher came in and cleaned his glasses.
"Greetings students, hope you all have a wonderful time outside. Now I want to introduce to you all Mr.Nakayama and his daughter Nakayama Jun. Go ahead." the teacher said giving Mr.Nakayama the floor to speak.
"A detective." Mi thought, her eyes then went to Kibe who was just looking forward.
"Greetings there students, I want you all to know to not be afraid. I'm Mr.Nakayama, I'm a detective for the police from the city that's about a few miles away. I was told that one of your peers had taken their own life. Others expressed some concerns about foul play. So I'm here to look into that. I also would like to introduce my daughter, Jun." Mr.Nakayama said as he gestured for her to walk up, which she did. Her eyes scanned the room.
"Ordinary bunch, nothing here worth exercising my brain over. If there was foul play involved, I doubt it's from within this school. From what I saw it's just filled with goofballs and quiet types." Jun thought to herself, her eyes then laid on Kibe who was sitting straight forward. She looked at him a bit puzzled, his posture was much more straight and less slouched than everyone else. She could tell he was either an A+ kind of guy or was perhaps someone of interest? She didn't know what to make of it, that was until Kibe then got on his phone.
"Never mind." She thought
"Jun will be attending school here until I can crack this little case. Though I reckon it won't take me too long. Anyway, thank you all for your time. I hope if we meet again it will be pleasant." Mr.Nakayama said bowing as he left. Jun then walked through a row of seats and sat in the seat adjacent to Kibe. After class everyone went to lunch, Kibe decided to go to the roof to eat his food, a place for him to think without people staring at him. Though he didn't care either. He at his rice and salmon as he looked up at the clouds.
"The student council and now a detective. What other surprises could there be?" Kibe said as he thought about what to do about the cameras. He figured it'd be best to turn in what he found that day so he could deflect some attention from the investigation going on. However, that was when he saw Akia burst through the doors of the rooftop. Her face dripping from tears, she tried wiping her face, but nothing worked. Kibe looked at her. Her eyes then met his as she saw him.
"I'm sorry." Akia said as she then ran to the edge of the rooftop and climbed up.
"HEY!" Kibe shouted
"Remember what I said, nothing is how it seems." She said, before Kibe could catch her she would jump off, all Kibe could think as he watched her plummet was-
WHY
He looked down as he heard the screams of girls as Akia's body landed with a loud thud. Kibe's eyes were that of shock as he looked down at Akia's body surrounded by students, blood rushing from her shattered temple and open skull, he had no idea what to make of what happened.
"Hey! There's someone up there!" shouted a voice as everyone looked up at Kibe and pointed. His eyes then caught something else, in the crowd looking up, was Takashi also pointing up at him.
