<p>Being pleasantly surprised alex new him so well Chris also smiled and shook Alex's and said "Alex it's also nice to meet you, you were the talk of the veterans and the military in our state for your selfish acts" said Chris while Alex's head was racing in trying to figure out what he did to get attention and then it hit him his state has a pretty big veteran's population only 300,000 but it has 5 million people plus the 3rd largest military base in the country everyone has connection to the military and are highly supportive of them so taking in the 300+ veterans when they were vulnerable to getting eaten will get a lot of support and Alex was actually happy he unknowingly got friendly relations with the military so early the only reason he didn't know is because he only stays on the news channel and doesn't go out what made Alex sad and also cringe is that if he was in California or Texas with the amount of veterans and homeless veterans there he could probably gather tens of thousands of people before the military lost its high command but what made him cringe was the huge populations of those states especially California it had tens of millions of citizens and 115,000 homeless people that's half of the entire US and major cities have strict gun laws making survival in California a nightmare atleast Texans have guns to fight the undead as Alex was thinking in fact his entire train of thought didn't even take 2 seconds a woman came from the room from behind Chris and smiled at Alex and said "Thank god you have made it alex I thought we would be stuck here for months" said Janet as Alex smiled and shook her hand and said "I'm only doing what I can for humanity nothing much anyway what do y'all have in plan" said Alex with the last sentence for both of them<br/><br/>Chris and Janet looked at each other for a second as Chris proceeds to say "we will go with you after all research into a cure has stopped as we ran out of test subjects and we are scientists we probably wont go out and our food will eventually run out I don't rule out the possibility of hostile survivors aswell" said Chris with a sigh as Alex was thinking how did they have such a tragic fate while being so cautious Alex shook his head and said "sorry I was thinking of something and yes we will take you as we don't have enough people to guard this place and our base do you have any trucks left over to take everything in this place?" Said Alex hoping they had trucks he didn't want to leave stuff behind here in case somebody came and took them "yes Alex we still have a few vehicles in the garage they were intended to be used by security and hauling" said Chris while he proceeded to say "let me lead you" said Chris as he began to lead the way looking a little impatient to leave followed by his wife just shook his head and followed as they made their way to the garage they passed some of Alex's team members sweeping the building looking at them so professional Chris couldn't help but turn to Alex and ask "you are y'all soldiers?" Hearing Chris Alex chuckled he wasn't a soldier but no one can check now as the world is going to shit so he said "yes me and my team are retired soldiers" said Alex with a smile as Janet said "really your a retired soldier I thought you just trained as I heard you bought everything I don't know how you got so rich while being a soldier looking at the equipment gear and apc and taking in the homeless veterans" said Janet as she was now interested in Alex's story and so was Chris who led the way "haha I got my money from inheritance my father owned a business I sold it when I saw the world going to shit luckily my parents won't have to witness this tragedy" said Alex as he really felt fortunate after those 5 years he suffered he doesn't wish that on anyone ofcourse if his parents were alive he would fight to keep them alive but since they died a couple years back and died somewhat peaceful considering how people are dying as we speak and how they will die in the future since they are already gone he can't bring back the dead he is just grateful they don't have to live through hell like he will have too "your right alex what's coming next can only be described as hell" said Chris with a heavy face as Janet also got a heavy face they know almost everything about the infection and it doesn't look pretty a cure won't be able to be found in a long time by the time humans might be close to extinction <br/><br/>As Chris and Janet led the way down stairs to the basement where a garage was Alex was praying in his heart that they had big trucks as soon as they got to the garage what greeted Alex's eyes were 5 trucks big they look like bank trucks that transport cash with armor on them and what looks to be an ambulance light and sirens this should be vehicles for the security to get samples out side the trucks were all black with CDC writing in bold letters on the side alex nodded these are good trucks after all money trucks can hold up to 2million in cash that's a lot of space they can definitely take everything here, seeing Alex like the trucks Chris said "Alex these trucks should be perfect they are armored and can haul a lot" Alex nodded "yeah they are perfect with this we should be able to leave after packing up"</p>
