Chapter 68

Tristan

I sat down in my car. My heart raced as I gripped the steering wheel. It was 6:30 in the evening, and I stared through the tinted windows of my black car. I had texted Hayley earlier, and she still hadn't answered. I was planning on buying Ali some flowers to apologize for my rage this morning. But she wasn't responding to any of my texts. I wanted her to tell me what Aaliyah's favorite flowers were.

Frowning, I pressed Hayley's contact and called her.

"Hayley, I understand you're still mad at me after what happened between us, but I need you to know that as soon as you see my text, you should waste no time in giving me a response," I said.

"If you're not going to say why you called, I will hang up on you," Hayley said.

"What are Aaliyah's favorite flowers?"

"Brother, I don't keep track of every little detail about Aaliyah," Hayley said. "Why don't you ask her yourself? You are her husband."
