‘Alena’s gone.’
‘So has Stac.’
‘Shit come on before she tells her everything.’
They changed form with two vampires by their side.
‘What’s going on Shortie?’
‘This place, all of it. It goes back centuries. When they were alive like us. We were treated like scavengers, not equal to those that lived here. There was plenty of blood spill. Heads blown away, limbs decapitated. I even saw my own sister have two spheres go through her body. They couldn’t kill all of them. They killed a few vamps, staking them in the right place. They called us Satan’s children, children of hell, we were diseased and they didn’t deserve to live.
Then the revolt began and lasted for two cemeteries that’s when they finally got us every last one of us.
We fought them ripping them into shreds to fight for our right to stay in the city we were born into. They carried fire torch’s setting the city ablaze things then were made of wood not like you see now all of brick. More stable.
Those who were left, left the city after making sure that it was dead, tying all of those left to wooden posts setting us on fire too. Watching as we all came to our death. It had been less than another century when newcomers came to the city re-building it to what you see today, but even that came with a price them. They weren’t banking on the dead rising.
They walked into the city centre where they were all hung, draw, and quartered by razor sharp nails. Many were killed by the Vamps ripping into their flesh, bleeding them dry. The there was me, I enjoy killing like all the others the good old fashioned way by piercing our nails through their flesh slicing them to pieces, they also burned them like once had been watching them die hearing their screams enthralled them even delighted their sickening minds like it once had with them.’
‘How come you know all of this?’
‘He told me.’
‘What has all this got to do with you?’
‘His brother knows that I am different.’
‘Yeah you’re not dead.’
Alena looked at Stacey. ‘I need to tell you something.’
‘Sure. It can’t be any worse that it already is.’
‘It can believe me.’
‘What is it Shortie?’
‘I’m the daughter of Satan.’
She laughed. Alena stared at her.
‘You’re shitting me right?’ Stacey said grinding to a halt, pulling Alena with her. ‘You can’t be the daughter of Satan.’
‘I am. I’m sorry. Look all I know is he told Mom about this place. He planted his seed in her before he died. Me. I didn’t believe it at first either, that’s until I came out here. That’s the truth Stac.’
‘Oh my god.’
‘Come on.’
‘Did Griegh know about this?’
‘No. no one did, can I trust you to keep it to yourself?’
‘Sure. No one’s going to believe me. No one will believe us about this place either.’
‘Good, now let’s get out of here.’ She said taking Stacey’s hand running on.
The gates closing.
The two friends skidding across the pavement, the dust circling in the air.
The gates closed.
‘Shit.’
‘Leaving so soon?’
Alena turned looking at Stacey. ‘Do you trust me?
‘Yes.’
Alena pulled Stacey behind her. She looked at the two brother’s two devils with a difference. She stared at Zephyr how could she have been so wrong?
He was so evil, unlike he was before. One demon devil was bad, but two was hell. Yet they both held a different presence, a different ora, and a heap of bullshit to cover the face behind the mask.
‘Come on Alena. No need to run.’
'You’re all freaks. Who’s next? Us?’
‘What ever gave you that idea?’
‘You lied to me! You told me my friends were alive, but you’d fucking killed them.’
‘Temper, temper.’
‘No wonder they call this the City of Evil. Maybe you should change the sign.’
‘Then no one would come would they?’
‘Then no one would die would they?
‘Come on Angel. We both know that’s not entirely true.’
‘Yes it is. Now let us leave.’
‘You know I can’t do that Alena. No one leaves. Not even you, you should know that by now. This is the city of the dead, there is no return. Now loose your friend, and come with me.’
‘Never!’
They all stepped forward.
‘Come on Angel.’
‘Don’t call me Angel!’ She screamed, her eyes blazing with fires, her hair a stream of fire.
‘Told you didn’t I?’
‘She’s his kid.’ Exodus looked at Alena. ‘Come on Angel.’
Her voice changed, an evil pitched tone. As if a demon was trapped inside her body. ‘I am not Angel. I am Karenina daughter of Satan. Do not tread my path, or I will kill you!’
‘Come on babe you know that you are not strong enough to do that.’
‘You will die!’
Exodus looked at Zephyr and nodded, using only his eyes.
Zephyr opened his hands only showing his palms, a force field in-prisoned Stacey.
‘Shortie!’
‘Let her go!’ She bellowed as fire balls hurtled from the palms of her hands.
‘Impressive.’ Exodus admitted. ‘But two can play that game.’ Fireballs flew out from his palms.
They began walking towards one another fire balls flying in mid air both dodging them.
She looked at Exodus as two of the fireballs met in mid air. ‘Don’t come any closer.’
‘Look into my eyes Alena.’
‘Never!’
His eyes burned into hers, her guard dropped as she went to grab for Stacey. The fireballs collided burning brightly lighting up the night sky before vanishing.
Her hand shot back. ‘What have you done? Let her go!’
‘It’s a force stronger than you can ever break my sweet little angel.’
His eyes burned into hers, her eyes to weak, unable to fight back.
The fires died within them fading away her eyes now blue.
Alena dropped falling into Exodus’s arms.
‘Take her somewhere Alena can’t find her. Then we’ll meet up in the circle.’
Zephyr nodded carrying Stacey away.
Exodus carried Alyna away with two vampires by his side.
