Chapter Two: First day at school

I saw Joanna off to the restaurant. I worked there part time and that meant, we would still see before we even got home. l chose not to take the bus to school. l rode my bicycle to school and parked it beside the other bicycles parked there. I clutched my backpack tightly as I walked in.

Rep Me Up High is a decent and beautiful school, endowed with natural sites, amazing facilities and nice equipments. I had being orientated on some facts about the school. The dos and donts weren't exempted.

"Locker 192" I said as I opened the lock of my locker. I arranged some of my textbooks in my locker when.a girl bumped into me.

"Ha" she burst into laughter "She's the poor girl at our school. How ironic. You don't look it. I know why. It's called packaging" she said and walked away with her friends.

"She couldn't even apologize" I blurted out.

My phone had fell in the cause of bumping into me. The screen had cracked and I frowned, sad. The students who saw me would talk in hushed tones and laugh at me. I wondered why. Joanna had said I looked good.

The bell was rung for classes. I looked around for Grade 11- B. I peeped my class and saw several students busy with their activities. The class was rowdy. They didn't notice what I was doing and I wanted no one to notice my presence. I walked in, only for the class to turn silent all of a sudden. I took a deep breath and kept on walking, heading for my seat. They all burst into laughter and I felt little.

I love fantasizing, everything fantasy, cartoons, drawing and imaginations. I was already fantasizing and imagining the situation. I was little and my classmates were huge as giants. Their laughter echoed everywhere and fear gripped my heart. I kept running, trying to avoid being squashed by them. They were all after me, wanting to end me. I hadn't noticed I was standing in the middle of class, holding my chest, breathing hard. They were all watching me like I was some sort of movie. I walked faster as I headed for my seat.

I was busy sorting out my books for the lectures we would have that morning when two girls approached my seat, rudely.

"Hey, new schooler"one of them with the blonde hair said "What goes on?"

I sat there watching them, like a film.

"Sneak peak. OMG, you wreck" the darked haired one said

"Do you know something? "the blonde haired said

"This school is for the rich, prestigious and popular. In this class, everyone is rich except you. Rep Me Up High is a school for the rich, not the poor. Didn't they tell you? " the blonde haired said

"Well, I guess not. Well, now you know, meet the Principal and process your transfer. We're hostile to poor people. We discriminate them. To avoid that, try another school that's meant for people from the slump."she said

"Come on Mari." the blonde haired said as they walked away.

"Ok, class" our teacher said after we greeted him "Let's welcome our new friend in our midst"

The students barely clapped as I walked to the front of the class.

"Hi. I'm Hildagard" I said

"That's all?" my teacher asked and I nodded.

"Ok. Welcome to Rep Me Up High. Hope you love our school. The people here will treat you well" he smiled and I nodded. If only he knew they were already pressurizing me to start processing my transfer.

********

We were having our five minutes break and I chose to walk around. I had gotten to the art gallery when I spotted five girls. The one I had met earlier in the hallway recognized me instantly.

"She's the one who broke the hook of my earring" she fired

"Em....you must be mistaking. I ..."

"Get her" they yelled.

I walked backwards, terrified and had suddenly gained pace when *thud*, a loud sound crashing to the ground. I turned around to spot the broken art materials on the floor. The girls had suddenly stopped harassing me and had took to their heels.

"I'm sorry. I...I swear I didn't mean to"

"You what?" a loud masculine voice yelled, that sent shivers down my spine. He confiscated my wrist with his hand as I felt pain.

"Ouch! Ouch! " I screamed when our eyes met. The once angered, furious eyes melted into an innocent one. He let go of my wrist and I heard gasps. Why were they gasping? Does he usually kill people who cross his path?

"I'm...I'm sorry" I apologized sincerely as I handed him his stuffs. I knew that mere looking at it, I had broken expensive art materials. I hoped he wouldn't ask me to pay. He just watched me without saying a word.

I had made a step when his words stopped me.

"Who are you?" he asked. Why do I always have to fall into trouble? If you tell him your name, he'll search for you around the school and have you pay for crossing paths with a handsome monster.

"The girl who broke your stuffs " I burst into a weird laughter and took to my heels. I collapsed on the clean toilet seat. I took my time to take in all that had happened, with slow breaths. The girls seemed to adore the figure that would have tore me apart.

I slowly pictured his face. He had cute jet black hair, blue eyeballs, a pointed nose, one boy dimple that made him hurt as hell, seductive pink lips and a well sculptured face. He had a dark aura and had the ability to switch moods. Joanna hadn't told me handsome guys attended this school. Oh, come on. She won't tell me everything. Rich kids attend this school, so handsome guys cluster up here.

I left the female lavatory for my class, for lectures to commence
