Chapter 42: Safe
The door to his house slammed open followed by a stampede of footsteps. "The calvary is here, sunflower. I know this all must hurt so, so much, but please, just a little longer. I've been searching for you for such a long time. I can't lose you, not yet. Stay with me, please."
Luke pulled back from her just as Greg, Daniella, and Mya came into the room. They paused for a split second, Daniella gasping while Greg and Mya cursed at Johanna's state, and then they flew into action. Mya and Daniella took turns at the table while Greg searched Luke's cabinets. Luke moved to help Greg, but he stopped him.
"Stay there, she needs you." Greg pulled out a bowl and cup, then began to fill one of them with water.
Luke nodded. "Okay. Mya, she has a stab wound on her right side." He lifted the blanket to show his cousin, who cursed again.
