Chapter 23: Take Me
"I'm okay. I'll tell you tomorrow." Her gaze slid from his to Mya's. "Can we talk about all of this tomorrow? Please?"
Mya, just as confused as he was, tilted her head to the side but nodded. "Of course."
Greg cradled Daniella, and she clung to him, grasping his back in her tiny hands.
Mya searched Greg's eyes for answers, but all he could do was shrug and shake his head. She folded the maps to clear off the table. "Why don't we eat and try to enjoy the night then?"
Daniella's shoulders slumped in relief. "Thank you."
They ate and fell into an easy conversation around the table with light teasing and small laughs, but eventually the night came to an end.
They stood and Greg pulled his cell phone out of his pocket. "Do you mind if I make a couple of calls?"
Daniella smiled. "No, I'll see Mya out. I have a few things to discuss with her anyway."
Greg looked between the two of them. The smirk on Mya's lips did not bode well for him.
