Introduction to the New World

Welcome to 2177, where all of the chaos began. Some believed God had died. Some believe they had become Chosen Ones of the new order, others scoff at this and live peacefully within civilian communities because the sky had shattered and given them the opportunity to advance as a species.

Humanity, at random chance, has been given the ability to manipulate reality.

Twenty years of technological progress got lost during the Calamity War, no record of history had been written down, as reporters and historians fear venturing into the factional disputes between groups of powerful demigods, super vigilantes, and lone mercenaries.

Eventually, civilians and normal persons alike have begun taming wanna-be conquerors and emperors with the power of radiation, which suppresses those abilities. Science has found a way to protect regular humans against the radioactive protections of such physics-breaking powers.

As the world moves on from the first generation of supers, healing their wounds and mending alliances, governments enact laws on supers, the public thinking of them as a special task force against the remaining loose ends of the Calamity War.

This story begins forty-seven years later, in 2224, as the public defines the heroes and the villains, and begin taking advantage of the new powers. Research is miles deep in the origin of superpowers. A journey to the moon is possible in seconds, they may begin colonies on Mars, and possibly beyond.

However, not all is well in the world. With over a thousand existing superheroes, more than half of which is known as the second generation, power struggles rise and fall within a cruel system.

The Board is known as the main group of superheroes anyone can count on to save the world. Smaller-named heroes take care of the day to day robbers and egotistic persons who think they can take over because they have a small advantage.

They have only one enemy left after having thwarted the last one, a great tyrant known as Dystopia. For him, money means nothing. His ability to create metals out of nothing in a gold-standard currency system means he can crash economies with a flick of his hand. They say he crushes the heads of his debtors and their loved ones when they miss payments. They say he bathes in diamonds fresh from the ether. He kidnaps your children and recruits them by making them drink blood. Some say he practices cannibalism, his traitors cooked and drenched in red wine.

These days, registered superheroes are going missing, disappeared off the face of the earth. While this could be traced back to Dystopia, no evidence has been found to connect the two. One day, Dystopia himself goes missing.
