CHAPTER 16 Christmas Eve 6

　　I took her hand limply in mine. “Your girlfriend?” I asked in his direction, watching the smirk form on her face.

　　“Well…” he began.

　　“Yes, me and Dawson have been together for ages. I gather he hasn’t mentioned me yet. He’s naughty, isn’t he?” She laughed, releasing my hand and snuggling up to his side.

　　“Very,” I bluntly commented, narrowing my eyes at him.

　　“We’ll all have to get together!” Heather cheered, ignoring the atmosphere that was forming in my direction.

　　“Well, I…” Dawson mumbled.

　　“My parents will be so happy to see you!” she beamed, moving further away from him. “Although they’ll want to know why there’s no ring on my finger… yet!”

　　“What?” he asked.

　　“A girl can only wait so long!” She chuckled, moving back into the crowd of dancers.

　　“But, Heather...!” Dawson called out over the music.

　　“See you very soon!” she shouted back, disappearing from view.
