The world was boring. No matter what happened people would go through their days doing nothing special and yet everyone wanted something to happen that could change their lives forever but it never did. Well, not until God decided at least.
Just like everyone else, Lux Tenebris was going through the motions and living normally. Today was his Birthday, March 6th, He was 15 and planned to have a party with his family and a few friends but alas it was a Thursday which meant he still had to go to school before he could relax and hang out with his friends. He was an average looking guy with blonde naturally curly hair and blue eyes which were behind his black framed glasses, His eyes and hair were the two things which stuck out the most and naturally they were the only things he could be complimented on. He wasn't a straight A student or an athlete of national level but he wasn't stupid or obese either, just purely average.
He greeted his two of his friends, Fin and Ethan, at the school gate and chatted while waiting for Fin to lock up his bike in the bike shed. They were good friends and they would all hang out from time to time. They went to the right as they entered the large school entrance. Physics was the first lesson Lux had to go to today and would actually be his last as the moment he entered the room everyone heard a loud, domineering voice.
"Humans, your world's inhabitants have long been wishing for something to happen that could change everyone's lives but none of you have even attempted to make a difference to your boring lives. Quite frankly, this has pissed me off so I am going to do it for you. You will soon see a holographic screen in your vision with the difficulties of the tutorial that all of you will have to endure through in order to familiarise yourselves with the powers and monsters that will exist in the new world all the survivors will be sent to. There is a very possible chance that you will die, so pick the difficulty you believe you can handle. You will gain abilities and a class based on your skill level and speed with which you finish the tutorial. There are no levels for yourself but there are levels from 1 to 10 for abilities which will make them more powerful and once you get them to level 10 there will be a huge power spike, although a common level 10 cannot be compared to a rare level 1. Classes can give you special traits or influence the environments in which you thrive and can enhance certain abilities of your physical body or mental state. Do not be alarmed, everyone will finish at the same time as the time you spend inside will be irrelevant to everyone else but you will emerge at places that are different depending on tutorial difficulty. You will be alone and not all of you will survive but I wish you all the best. "
As soon as the voice finished speaking everyone went into panic but decided that they had to think rationally because it could be a risk of life or death. The fact that this was reality set in when people saw a screen pop up in front of them.
Tutorial Difficulty:
Easy: You will gain one ability (Not unique to you) which cannot go over uncommon rarity. This tutorial will be especially easy to complete and once you do there is a 100% chance of gaining a common class when you finish. (10 levels)
Medium: You will gain 3 abilities (Not unique to you) which can be uncommon or rare. This tutorial is harder than easy difficulty but should not be too much of a challenge for average people and depending on your time taken to finish and your displayed skill you can gain an uncommon or rare class when you finish. (25 levels)
Hard: You will gain 5 abilities (Not unique to you) which can be rare or epic. This difficulty is as you would expect, Hard. The monsters are stronger than you physically but with some planning and good skill you can take them down, this may sound easy but it most definitely is not. Depending on your time taken to finish and your displayed skill you can gain a rare or epic class when you finish. (50 levels)
Nightmare: You will gain 10 abilities (Possibility of at most 3 being unique but still not a high chance) which will be epic or legendary. Incredibly strong monsters with a level of intellect close to that of an average 9 year old human child. If you pick this difficulty you will most likely die. However, if you survive you will be greatly rewarded and will gain an epic or legendary class. (100 levels)
Impossible: You will gain 15 abilities (All of these will be unique abilities that solely belong to you and cannot be replicated) All of these will be classed above legendary and classed as Impossible). Monsters will be almost impossible to kill and have the brain power of an average 15 year old. Although this may sound easy as you have 15 Impossible class abilities but you will have one ability at the start which you will have to master after only 10 levels and then after these 10 levels there will be a difficulty spike and your ability will be swapped for a new one which you will have to master for another 10 levels. This will repeat 15 times and if you somehow survive after all of the increased difficulty spikes and new abilities you will finally gain all 15 abilities and be able to leave. You will gain an Impossible level unique class before you finish which will also be unique to you. (150 levels).
After reading through this Lux turned to Fin and Ethan and asked them what difficulty they were going to pick. Neither of them knew what to do but decided what they were going to choose. Ethan was going to choose medium difficulty as he was a pretty well built guy for a 15 year old but didn't want to overestimate himself and risk being killed. Fin was an average height, stocky lad who played rugby, he tended to have a huge ego and could kind of back it up as he broke someone in the year above's nose in a 3 vs 1 fight with him on the underpopulated side. He was going to pick hard difficulty and was confident he could finish it although both Lux and Ethan thought he would be an idiot and pick nightmare or impossible. Lux on the other hand didn't really know what to pick but decided it would be ok to pick hard difficulty. They all said goodbye and expected to see each other soon. Ethan picked his difficulty first and Fin and Lux saw him disappear. Lux was about to pick the Hard difficulty when Fin, like a fucking idiot, slapped him on the back as a way to see him off but instead of it being a light hearted expression Lux's hand slipped over to the Impossible difficulty and disappeared leaving Fin to leave for the Hard tutorial none the wiser about what he had done.
