Ch 22 Day 1 part 2

The newfound team were pulled into their first competition as a game. Excitement coursed through their veins as they anticipated the results. Oikawa Toru was one such player, quickly zooming across the courts and setting up pylons.

The actions of Oikawa produced thoughts of regret within the mind of Daniel, as he sought out ways to back out and still get what he wanted.

Suddenly coming to a realization, a massive grin found its way to his face and attempted to grow even wider. Quickly regaining his composure, he made his way to the court and cleared his throat and got the attention of the team.

"I have made my decision. I'm going to leave the serving specialist position to Oikawa-senpai." Gesturing to Oikawa, who currently had a dropped jaw.

"Hey, no, no, no. You can't just do that. We were going to decide the player with the game. You can't back out now." Player A said.

"Oh, but I can. Who said I can't?" Daniel retorted and shrugged his shoulders.

Turning to the team once again,

"Besides if you guys want it, go play against him, oh wait, you can't 'cause you are scared. If no one's going, I'll assume we can get this party started."

Silence ensued until the coach took the lead and started the practice.

"Alright you guys start your warm ups and Daniel, give me 10 pushups."

"Yes, coach"

'Huh, I see. This is the approach you're using with me. Very well, let's see you try.' A bit gloomy, he completed his push-ups nonetheless and quickly made his way back to the team in the midst of their warm ups.

After all was said and done, they made their way back to their coach.

"Today we will be working on our blocks, there will be no one man today but twos and threes. Let's see… Oikawa and Iwaizumi. Show the newbies how we set up our wall.

At the net, you have to be ready to be explosive and block the ball. Hence we always start in our loading position and hands an inch before the net."

"Now when I say go, you will go through all the steps I've taught you and block.

Get with a partner and let's have Oikawa and Iwaizumi go first. GO"

After a series of go's..

"It's time to see how you fare against blocking a target now and how you guys will do against a real wall. Oikawa will be setting so you guys set up a wall and let 1 person come hit and we'll rotate. Is that fair?"

"Yes, Coach."

"Get in lines and let's get this going."

A WHILE LATER*

"You guys set up teams of 6 with subs, we will be ending today's practice with a game. Oh and Oikawa and Daniel will not be on the same team."

15 minutes later.

Daniel's POV

'Damn, is this the feeling of being at the top. It's getting boring and I haven't been scored on yet. I know I wanted to get a solid defense, I didn't expect this as a consequence. Wait, what am I going on about? We can just get Kageyama in and…ho ho ho now this, this is epic.'

"Hey can one of you sub in for Kageyama, he hasn't been in yet." Getting a lot of ooh's, I realized they probably forgot about his existence because they're having sooo much fun but now it will be even more fun.

"Kageyama Tobio right, come in and play setter. This time I'll play the middle".

BAM*

It was served over the net and to Oikawa's team. I could tell he was a bit frustrated..okay maybe very frustrated. It ain't my fault he's not good enough to score on me. However since I'm now middle, he can score all he wants. That is, if he can get it over me.

Player C received it and made it a bit short, causing Oikawa to cover the space and set it to Iwaizumi on the left. Iwaizumi, going into his approach, took off and came face to face with me mid air. Oh and add Kageyama as well.

Iwaizumi's POV

I have to clean up after my kouhai's mistake and oop-. How is Daniel already in the air and that hang time is… beautiful. I'll force a line shot and a block out.

"OU- what? How did this guy-oh? Tsk. Let's get into the huddle.

Daniel's POV

"LEFT" I called out.

'Kageyama went with a high ball, heh maybe I should help him a little.'

[AN: I'm sure you all recall Kageyama sets what he thinks will make the hitter score]

Flying in the air, I hang off hitting until the last second when their wall begins to fall back down and..

"We'll end the practice today there. Good work guys, grab some water and meet me back here. I have some news.

Quickly getting their hydration over with, the team sat around the coach who sat on the bench by the wall.

We received an invitation for a practice game against the powerhouse Chidoriyama Junior High. I'm asking you the players(readers) if you want to accept or decline.
