Chapter 5: Is this alright?

Frieren: "Strange, why doesn't his power have a limit?"

Frieren's normally calm eyes now showed a trace of curiosity.

She didn't believe that anyone could have unlimited power.

Even her own vast magic reserves, though immense, would eventually be exhausted if used at full force.

Akame: "It's been thirty minutes already."

What they didn't know was that while killing the undead, Rei Ao was gradually getting stronger.

Sakurajima Mai: *Gulp* "Is this really the kind of power a human can have?"

Frieren: "A human magician could achieve this."

Stella: "All right, I take back what I said earlier. His strength is actually impressive."

Stella: "But @Saeko Busujima, aren't you afraid of freezing to death by staying with him?"

Saeko Busujima didn't mind.

She followed Rei Ao from a distance, watching his back intently.

Even though her body shivered from the cold, she didn't stop.

As for why, perhaps Saeko herself wasn't sure.

Leaving the ice-covered area, the temperature gradually returned to normal.

Inside Fujimi Academy, many students hiding in the buildings stared in terror at the scene outside, wondering if someone had thrown some sort of freezing bomb.

Rei Ao noticed that there were still people inside the buildings.

It was a bit troublesome.

Would this mean he couldn't go on killing the undead freely?

He was here to kill undead, not harm others.

So he asked, "I'm planning to leave your school and head outside. What about you?"

"I…"

Saeko Busujima, snapping back to reality, thought of her companions and immediately shook her head. "I need to find my comrades."

"Comrades?"

Rei Ao thought of Takashi Komuro and the others.

With his enhanced eyesight and hearing, he could easily see a group of people surrounded by undead in front of a building.

Pointing in that direction, he said, "You mean them, right? Your friends?"

"?!!"

Looking where he pointed, Saeko Busujima finally noticed.

"Miyamoto Rei?"

A busty brunette turned her head at the sound of her name, her face lighting up with joy. "Saeko-senpai, we finally found you!"

"Hey! Don't lower your guard!!!"

A pink-haired, twin-tailed girl wearing glasses angrily shouted, reminding them of the dangerous situation they were still in.

"Everyone, stay in formation and move towards Saeko-senpai."

A young man commanded the group.

There were three girls and two guys, advancing while fighting off the undead.

Rei Ao stood by with his arms crossed, watching with interest.

This was the protagonist group, after all.

There was the brunette, Miyamoto Rei.

The pink-haired Takagi Saya.

The voluptuous, blonde school nurse, Shizuka Marikawa.

And of course, the male protagonist Takashi Komuro, along with a chubby guy named Kohta Hirano.

Suddenly, Saeko Busujima's eyes widened.

She shouted a warning: "Watch out!!"

"Ahhhhh! Get off me!!!"

Before Miyamoto Rei and the others could react, they heard a scream.

It was the chubby guy, Kohta Hirano, who had been grabbed by an undead creature around his leg.

And then—

"Roar!!!"

The undead bit into his leg, blood and flesh splattering instantly.

"Kohta!!!"

Takashi Komuro instinctively reached out to help him, but the panicked Kohta, like a drowning man clutching at straws, accidentally pulled Takashi down to the ground with him.

"Takashi Komuro!!!"

Miyamoto Rei, in turn, tried to help them.

"Rei!"

But Takagi Saya grabbed her, holding her back.

In a mere second, the two who had fallen were completely surrounded by the undead.

"Ahhhhhh!!!"

Their screams rang out, and within seconds, the only sounds left were the grisly noises of flesh being devoured.

"No…"

Miyamoto Rei collapsed to her knees, dazed.

How could this happen…

Takagi Saya felt utterly hopeless.

With two dead and one emotionally broken, what could she and Shizuka Marikawa possibly do?

Surrounded by undead, it seemed like a death sentence.

"Group leader Rei Ao! Please, save them!!!"

Saeko Busujima urgently pleaded with Rei Ao.

"Sorry, but the trade is already complete."

Rei Ao's indifferent reply followed.

Call him cold-blooded or heartless if you wanted.

Rei Ao didn't care in the slightest.

They were all strangers to him.

He wasn't about to play the hero just because they were pretty.

He wasn't the type of person who would lose his mind over a beautiful face.

Saving them wouldn't guarantee any sort of reward.

"A trade…"

Saeko Busujima suddenly understood.

Rei Ao had only come because of her trade request.

Now that the trade was complete, she had no right to ask or demand anything more from him.

But…

There was still a way!

[Trade details]: Save Miyamoto Rei and the others, and protect them for a certain amount of time!

"Heh."

Rei Ao grinned.

Now she was getting the idea.

Saeko Busujima only had one trade option left: body usage rights.

If she agreed, she would be offering herself.

If she offered herself, he would save them.
