A transparent consciousness wandered through the void, devoid of matter or form, its lingering memories the only thing keeping it alive conscious. The void around him, devoid of color or temperature, acted like a prison, keeping his mind in chains. "Is this the fate of those who go against the natural order?" The consciousness pondered as his mind wandered through a few happy moments in his memories. With the passage of time, that more behaved to an eternity. His memories become more and more scarce, his life, his sensations, people, everything was deteriorating in the face of the flow of time. Yet, somewhere in his mind, his conscience refused to let go of a memory, working his very existence at risk to hold on to it. The emptiness around him exerts more and more pressure, as if he were trying to squeeze something out of that lost soul. " ONLY OVER MY DEAD BODY! Chapter 15 - Hunting

Kael's body turned, with impressive speed, moving away from Drake.

Drake didn't react right away, watching the soldiers' reaction, but it seemed his courage had dissipated alongside the big silver knight. Seeing that there would be no movements on the part of the soldiers.

Drake picked up a random sword from the ground, enveloping his feet in aura, he headed in the direction Kael ran.

The soldiers, upon seeing Drake disappearing into the darkness, were finally able to relax, some even sat on the ground from the tension.

" Since when was there that monster in the Crimsons? " Someone asked.

" I know Dante's two kids were promising, but who is this kid?"

" I don't know, but that seems to be the most troublesome " Murmurs filled the camp that had momentarily become a battlefield.

From a distance.

Kael had run along the dirt road, in an attempt to reach the city of Viburg while alive. His body moved like the wind, his running movement was a bit clumsy, but there seemed to be something like a bodiless light around him that propelled his body.

With each step, Kael floated in the air for a few seconds, making his speed quite fast. If he kept up at that speed, in about 1 hour he would reach the city of Viburg, as long as his mana supply could support it.

Little by little, a smile crept onto his face. His running speed as a 4-circle sorcerer was equivalent to that of an intermediate Knight.

In terms of overall firepower, given the time to concentrate, he could display power equal to or greater than an Advanced Knight.

In the distance, many kilometers away, Kael saw the lights of the city of Viburg. In the distance, Viburg glowed with many lights through its small walls. The city of Viburg was far from the border, so its priorities were not defense.

There were some forests nearby where the wild animals that passed looked with curiosity and fear at the city.

Kael felt safe, increasing his speed. When a feeling of unease hit him. Looking back as he ran, All there was was darkness. Still, the discomfort seemed to be growing.

Awareness of him was spread around him, making him aware of his surroundings. Kael was running at his limit, when his consciousness noticed movement a few meters away. Looking into the dark. Two red eyes swayed, seeming to be in a running motion, never taking their eyes off Kael. Kael felt a shiver run down his spine, but he soon reacted, raising one of his hands, a small red circle lit up. A small ball of fire flew towards the darkness.

Drake, who was running at full throttle, was out of breath. His entire body was drenched, making him question whether it was sweat or the blood of his enemies.

Noting the approaching warm glow, Drake cocked his head to the side. The fireball flew past his head, burning off some of his hair on the way. The fireball continued flying, until it hit the ground in the distance.

Boom

A small explosion occurred. Drake felt relieved. Fortunately his primary reaction was to dodge, if he decided to counter that spell it would probably explode in his face.

Looking at his prey, Drake gauged the distance, there were about twenty meters separating him from Kael.

Pushing his body to its limits, Drake hurried on. Black aura circled his feet, causing his speed to receive a boost. His leg muscles were burning from the long run, but a fierce smile spread across his face.

The pressure of the wind was making his cape flutter. With each step, Drake was getting closer little by little. Another fireball approached Drake's body.

Woosh

Dodging, Drake charged forward as the explosion sounded behind his body.

Boom

Kael, seeing that Drake was dodging his fireballs, decided to take a different approach. His mana was almost depleted, he would risk everything on his next attack.

Kael momentarily withdrew his translucent spell that enveloped his body. Gathering as much mana as possible for his last spell. Raising his two hands, a fiery red magic circle began to form, heat was building up around his figure. Gradually the magic circle was formed in the air, amidst various symbols and complex figures.

From the size of this new circle, it was predictable his power level. The magic circle was almost complete, while Drake was still 10 meters away, he wouldn't arrive in time to interrupt.

Drake, sensing the urgency of his enemy's attack, resolved to act. As he ran, his steps suddenly stopped, as the black aura seemed to dance from his legs to his arms. Putting the sword he carried into throwing position, he threw it.

Swish

Like an arrow cutting through the wind, his sword followed the trajectory of Kael, who was about to form his magic circle.

Push

The flying sword creating wind pressure visible to the naked eye pierced Kael's shoulder, causing the magic circle to shatter from the loss of concentration.

"ARGHHH!" Kael screamed, as his body fell backwards.

Screaming and thrashing to the ground, Kael resembled an animal that was about to be slaughtered. Drake, with cold eyes approached slowly. There was no source of light nearby, just the distant pink line on the horizon, signaling the onset of morning.

"PLEASE SPARE ME!" Kael pleaded for his life.

The look on Drake's face grew worse at hearing Kael's pleas. Coming close to Kael's body that was shaking with spasms.

Drake lifted his leg enveloping it in black aura, landing on one of Kael's legs.

Crack

With a loud snap, the bones in Kael's leg snapped, piercing his skin, making a compound fracture.

"AARRRGHHHHHH!" Kael's screams echoed down the silent hill, becoming a spectacle to the ears.

"Blame your bad luck on attacking the wrong person" Drake's voice rang along with his nonchalant expression.

Lifting his leg again, Drake moved down toward Kael's other leg.

Crack

"AARGHHH!" Kael's scream again echoed.

Kael's eyes looked toward the city of Viburg, which was in sight but not so close that anyone could hear his desperate cries. Compared to Kael's dismayed face, Drake managed a faint smile.

" DON'T KILL ME, I HAVE RELATIONSHIP WITH A MAGIC RENOWNED FAMILY! " Kael shouted through his tears.

Drake had his eyebrows raised upon hearing that information. Interested he asked.

" What kind of relationship do you have with them?" Noticing Drake's interest, the glimmer of hope returned to Kael's eyes.

" I am the bastard son of an imperial family elder, let me live and I will reward you " Kael said stuttering and missing some words. It was a somewhat contradictory view, to see a grown man acting like a child in front of a teenager.

"Hmm, so that's it" Drake said as he bent down, his hand going towards the sword that was strapped to Kael.

"ARGHGHHH!" Pulling the sword out, Kael screamed and writhed wildly, but soon ceased as the sword was removed from his body.

Drake looked down at the blood on the sword, which reflected the few beams of sunlight that had begun to show. The sun was slowly reaching Drake's face.

His eyes were no longer glowing red, showing that he had reached the limit of using his bloodline for now. His hair had thinned out a bit, there was a burn wound on his face caused by the silver knight, bruises covered his entire body.

Kael was now smiling, hoping he would make it out of this situation alive. When Drake's voice rang out in a cold tone.

"Unfortunately for you, I don't usually go back on my words." As Drake finished his sentence, his sword made a clean sweep, severing Kael's neck and head.

Kael who had a hopeful expression, quickly turned into a terrified expression, before he knew it, his head had detached from his body, Blood gushed from his severed arteries, quickly forming a pool of blood beneath his body.

Even after being killed, his body emitted muscle contractions, forcing some spasms. Drake looked at the feats he had pursued since last night, his slight smile slowly fading back to his neutral expression.

Sheathing his sword he said.

"I hope you can rest in peace, Kaesir" After talking about him. Drake turned, walking in the opposite direction.

His mission was to exterminate the goblins, which had long since been completed. This little detour he had taken was for personal reasons.

The sun was finally showing in the sky, illuminating the surroundings and warming Drake's entire body.

Drake liked the feeling of having his body embraced by the sun, closing his eyes for a few seconds, he enjoyed the moment and allowed himself to relax.

After having his adrenaline cooled down, Drake felt tired, along with his growling stomach.

Taking a piece of jerky from his bag, he popped it into his mouth. Slowly moving his steps, Drake moved.

Drake could be seen walking calmly as he took slow bites of a piece of jerky.

With a slight smile on his face, he said. " Time to back home "
