"Immortal? What kind of immortal are you?" Sam chuckled, not thinking that he might remember these guys from the original show. But if they were, they would be funny.
"The kind that you cannot kill," one of them said with utter confidence. "We are the Immortal Brothers."
Sam rubbed his chin. "Interesting. I'm immortal myself, so what kind did you make? Infinite regeneration, infinite lifespan?"
The three old people changed their appearance, taking on the form of young men.
"Sam, you don't have to talk to them," Aki interrupted, creating a circle with his finger.
Aki was using the famous signature of summoning the Fox Devil. But before he could do anything, one of the three aimed their gun at him and fired.
Aki flew from his spot, barely dodging. When Sam looked back, he noticed that it was Himeno using her Ghost arm to shift Aki.
"It reminds me of the time when Himeno sempai saved me from the Clown Devil," Sam thought.
"You don't have time to turn your head, immortal devil hunter," one of the three came up behind Sam and fired several shots. Sam decided to let him do that.
[-30 HP] [-50 HP] [-20 HP]...
Sam turned toward him, feigning a shocked expression. "You..." His knees shook, and he seemed about to collapse.
Tendo and Yutaro grabbed their guns, but Himeno stopped them. "Let him, he's not serious."
Sam smiled and stopped shaking. He quickly extended his hand and grabbed the gun, saying, "So, you're saying you are immortal."
The so-called immortal man was quite astonished. But when Sam aimed the gun at him, he didn't act afraid. Instead, he charged at Sam.
Sam smiled, aimed the gun at his head, and shot him.
A dead body fell. "Guess the three aren't immortal, after all."

Before Sam could brag against his foes, the remaining two aimed their guns at him.
Using flash step, he vanished. When he reappeared, he was squatting and sheathing his sword.
"Hey, Himeno sempai, look. Not a single drop of blood."
When he finished speaking, a slash appeared on the chests of the so-called immortals as their bodies were cut in half.
[+100,000 XP]
Himeno took a deep breath and sighed. "And here I was steeling myself for one of your crazy pranks."
"Hey, don't spoil it for the new guys," he said while looking at Tendo and Yutaro.
Surely, it would be funny to prank them like he'd done to Kobeni and Arai. When he remembered their faces, he couldn't help but hold back his urge to laugh. But now was no laughing time. There were three professional devil hunters who had sneaked up on his team, and if it weren't for his Devil Sense, they would have died. It meant that they were aiming for them to hunt Denji.
"We've been in this organization longer than you have, new guy," Yutaro answered.
Sam shook his head as he walked to the bodies of the three. He scanned them and grabbed their phones.
"These guys, they are aiming for Denji, meaning the other assassins have arrived. But why did they attack us first?" he wondered.
"Apparently, they have a deal with the Skin Devil," Tendo answered. "They were after our skins to enter the Public Safety."
"Interesting." While Sam was scanning the phones of the 'Immortal Brothers,' Himeno got behind him and was looking for bullets on his back.
"So, what's the trick?" Himeno asked. "You don't have a protective vest."
"I'm curious too. Are you really immortal?" asked Tendo.
Aki shook his head. "He's not. He simply doesn't fear death. But where are the bullets?"
"Used a deal with a devil to cancel damage that my body receives. Although, it's only limited to a certain amount of damage," Sam replied. When he was done scanning the numbers, he muttered, "Interesting. These guys are Americans. And they have hired a list of other assassins."
Sam picked up his Tony's phone and dialed his underground friends with the list of numbers, demanding to know the owners.
"Then I should report that back to Makima."
"Are you even listening to me?" Himeno interrupted his thoughts.
Sam looked at her. "What were you saying?"
"I'm saying, don't act recklessly because you have a contract with a devil. You think your life or what you give to devils are playthings?"
"Says the girl who gave her eye to the Ghost Devil for one arm."
Himeno sounded offended. "You said what!"
Sam was quite tired of her, acting as if everyone else's life is her concern while she should care about her own first.
"You heard me," Sam replied. "You're selfishly acting concerned about my life while you are throwing your own. I don't need your advice on how to live or when to die."
"You think so," Himeno pouted. "Fine, no bedtime."
"Same words my ex said before coming back to me." Sam shrugged. It's not like he was out of options. But thinking about it, with assassins all around the world and with him having a mission, he didn't have time for bedtime.
When you pass on your genes, you pass on your genes. But when you grind, everything else is put on the side.
Suddenly, a car stopped in front of them.
Kobeni was driving. She got out, tears streaming from her eyes. One could tell she wasn't sad, but was panicked.
"Everyone in the city is turning into puppets, and they are surrounding the headquarters," Kobeni said.
"Where is Denji?" Sam asked.
"He's inside that building," Kobeni said. "Be careful; if a doll touches you, you'll turn into one."
Sam unsheathed his sword. "So, guys, I advise you to get to the top roof of a building." He then walked.
"Where are you going?" Sam looked left and right. Normal people were around him. One wouldn't notice a doll, but Sam wasn't just anyone. He was a devil hunter, and he could tell the devil from the fiend from the possessed to a normal human.
The dolls were acting normal, drinking coffee and playing.
A young girl dropped her ball next to them and rushed to pick it up.
"There are 10 possessed people. That young child, for example," Sam said, unsheathing his sword. That girl was no human, not anymore. Anyone touched by her would turn into a doll. It was better to set her free.
Sam's sword turned into an arc of light, cutting that little girl in half. No blood followed.
No one seemed to mind his action.
Damn. These devil hunters are really cold.
The girl's parts fell, reacting like doll parts as they rolled on the ground. "And you guys need to hide; I'll be on my way to the headquarters." Then, without acknowledging anyone, he started running.
