The Plan

Evan looked at Winston with disbelief, how did he not see through him. If there was something that Evan was confident in, that would be his ability to read people, yet this man fooled him.

When Winston saw the look on Evan's face, he burst into laughter, bending forward. One would be scared seeing an old man laugh this hard, he might get a heart attack.

Winston managed to control his laughter, he looked at Sophia. "Will you tell him or should I?"

Sophia sighed. "Evan, as you know, Shadow song is the direct enemy of the council. The members who knew of you, wanted us to verify your feelings towards the council. So on the night you escaped, we informed Mr Clingsworth, who is one of the few Noble's on our side. He was to probe you and find if it was possible to get you to pledge alliance to the council."

'I have to admit, these guys are good, they prepared before hand for everything.'

"So were you the ones that asked him to use a level 4 spell as bait?" Evan decided to ask.

"Level 4 spell?" Sophia was perplexed.

"Ha ha ha. That was just a gift in my part." Winston said.

"Oh, so that's it. Thank you." Evan said.

"Don't worry kid, you are one of our secret weapon, it's in our favor to invest in your growth."

A voice came from the people sitting in the cellar. "Winston, you gave a level 4 darkness spell for free. It seems old age has made you senile."

"Watch your mouth Agatha, I am as ok as I was in my prime." Winston said to the old woman who spoke.

"Come to think of it, you were never ok, seeing you would go off showing your flame magic to impress girls, and get them into your bed " The woman said in a scornful tone.

"Ha, you are just angry that I never looked at you." Winston retorted.

"You male whore, who would want you."

"Speak for your self, even now I am as attractive as ever. You on the other has turned sour." Winston said.

"It seems the Clingsworth don't have mirrors." The woman fired back.

Every one watched the disgraceful yet very funny and satisfying display by these Two geezers. After a minute of back and forth war of words, the two finally gave it a rest, leaving the match as a draw.

Sophia seeing that they were done with their banter, proceeded to call every one's attention. The plan was about to be explained.

"In this room they are only fourteen people, so if this plan leaks we will all be held responsible. I have swept the entire premises, and I can say confidently that no one is evesdroping on this conversation. Our plan is to begin to assimilate ourselves into Esperia. We already have Winston in Government, Agatha in Business. Roger in Information. But we need to set in more nodes that can ease things up. So Jade, Leo, Ray and Evan, you will be taking a test to get into the elite squad of the city guards, the ones who specifically protect the secrets of Esperia. This is a long term plan, as you will be sent to a council training facility for three years after the test. Any questions so far." Sophia paused, to allow questions.

"Lady Sophia, how will the Council ensure we are not spies." Ray asked contradicting his stupidity, though no one noticed, Evan noticed and that solidified his notion of Ray.

"The council has created a method, a spell that inbudes loyalty into their soldiers. That spell will be used on you continuously for the three years duration of the training. I have a spell that builds a barrier in your mind to stop the effect of the council's spell. This spell is one of a kind and only a handful of people know about it."

"Lady Sophia how do we contact you from there." Jade asked.

"There will be no contacting, this is what makes the mission tricky. You will have to act base in your intuition, but if push comes to shove, I will use long distance telepathy to reach you."

"So we are to become elites, gain the trust of the council, so that we can slowly erode it as we climb up the power ladder." Evan broke the plan into summary.

"Yes, that is it, though most of us here might not get to see the fruit of the plan, we still have to play our path." Sophia rounded up.

Evan was rejoicing deep within, they had made a perfect plan for him to grow and exact his revenge. He didn't care for shadow songs goal, all that mattered was his goal.

The meeting ended after feeling in a few blanks by Sophia. Evan and the rest went up to the bar above.

"Damn, being a soldier is not my thing you know." Ray said holding a mug of beer, only he and Leo were drinking. Evan and Jade didn't take anything.

"I understand Jade not drinking, but what of you Evan, what is it?" Leo whose cheeks were turning red spoke.

Before Evan could answer, a man some tables away fainted from over drinking. Evan pointed to the man. "That man is enough reason."

After he said that, Leo didn't bother him anymore, but he did not stop drinking.

Couple hours later Leo was barely awake, whilst Ray was completely off.

Evan stood up, looking at Jade he asked. "Are you going to help them?"

Jade stood up as well."No, it will be bright out in a few hours, I need to go rest. The bartender will probably put them in the cellar."

Evan gave a nod, and then proceeded to leave first. Tomorrow he would begin practicing that level 4 spell that Winston gave to him, he had to learn it before heading to train for the elite squad, as he didn't know if he would get another chance when he got there.
