Healing Spell

As I checked, and secretly touched, every part of his front, I had to turn him then to check the main problem; that wound.

I didn't know much about amending wounds, however as a prince worshiped by all, I had a two or three paper cuts here and there that caused a ruckus at the palace back then.

And in one of those times, I asked the healer to teach me something, and he secretly wrote a healing spell over a dirty piece of my blooded cloth; and up till now no one had ever known about this little secret of mine.

"I hope this spell can work," I didn't try it except for a couple of times to practice on it when I was a kid. After growing up, and being much observed and strictly followed, I decided to refrain doing these problem grabbing actions of mine.

Let secrets be secrets and no one else would know except for me.

That was something I could deal with now; this wound. However when I flipped him on the back, I was surprised to see another thing that was covered by the armor at first – a tattoo!

It was a sun tattoo bathing a place. I didn't know why but when seeing this weird tattoo, I couldn't help myself to glance around me, at this room. "Was all this destined?" this was the question; this was the doubt.

The wound was so deep, caused by some sharp weapon; an arrow was the best option, but there was no arrow. Plus the wound wasn't deep.

"Was it an arrow?" I asked the horse, as if it was able to reply to me.

"Neigh!" and it just replied!

I chuckled as carefully put my two hands over his wound, slightly above it so I wouldn't be tainted by his cold blood. "Retagus klotuas!" I muttered, softly while closing my eyes slightly, moving my two hands in semi-circular way, one clockwise, and the other anticlockwise.

The secret – as that healer told me – lied in the repetitive move, the tranquility of muttering, and the belief in the ability of my spell to heal. "Opening your eyes and examining if your spell has worked or not is one of the strongest signs of your failure," these were what he warned me on my piece of cloth.

So, I didn't look, I didn't steal a glance as I kept humming like a little parrot, obsessed with one sentence.

How much should I stay doing this? This was a very good question that I didn't know the answer to! so, I gave myself one hour; one hour before dawn would fall upon us; one hour for me to go back and pretend to be sleeping inside my room.

I heard the restless horse beside me moving its body from time to time, however I didn't open my eyes. Opening my eyes for even a brief moment would endanger me of breaking the spell, wasting all that effort; and above all the time!

I didn't have much time to waste here, and I had to keep my promise in saving him. why? Frankly at this moment I didn't know the answer!

Was it because of the horse? Was it because of him? Was it because of me?

Fate was weird, I never understood its plans and machinations; twists and tweaks!
