A few days later, Michael walked into the hospital ward with a boutique of fresh flowers, just as he promised. He knew she was in a coma, and she would probably never see them, but it gave him comfort to feel like he was doing something. He wanted her to at least know someone was there who cared when she woke up.
Noticing a lot of activity around her room when he arrived in the hall where her room was, he sped up his pace to see what was all the commotion.
He stopped a nurse trying to get answers. "Is Miss Holt all right?"
"Oh, yes. I have good news for you. She woke up a little while ago. She's alert and the doctor and rehab therapists are doing some tests now. You can go in. She's very scared though, so be quiet when you walk in," the lady smiled at him as she went back to work.
