Regardless of my presence here, the rooster brazenly approached the stream to take a drink.
[Rooster: Level 1.]
[HP: 10/10.]
It was about thirty meters away from me.
I instantly equipped my slingshot and took a rock before aiming at the rooster.
My accuracy was certainly not the best, but I had only one chance to end the rooster.
If I were to miss this opportunity, I would probably not get another chance like this and starve throughout the night.
I extended the rubber and then released it!
*Squawk!!*
-6
It released a startled squawk before falling helplessly to the ground.
It was stunned, but it wasn't dead.
I was starving. It's been hours since I ate the berries. My hunger bar had dropped to 20% and 10% was due to the water I drank a few seconds ago.
I saw a couple of berries I could eat, but they were the poisonous kind, and so I avoided them.
I grabbed the massive rock not too far away from my feet, then I rushed to the dazed rooster before standing in front of it with the rock raised just above my head.
*Bam!!*
[Ding!! Bashed!! Target was smashed to death. You have killed a rooster. 10 damage was inflicted on Target's HP. Dropped item: Chicken meat. You have gained 5 exp.]
The rooster turned into pixels, leaving behind a lump of meat.
"Woah!!" I exclaimed in shock, then grabbed the lump of meat left behind by it.
"This just makes things a lot easier for me,"
To be honest, I thought I would have to pluck the feathers of the rooster but seeing a chunk of meat right in front of me seems a lot better than hand plucking the feathers away first.
I stored it in my inventory and then gazed around the surrounding once again.
'If a rooster could come all the way here for water, what are the odds of other monsters doing the same as well.' I thought before taking my drenched clothing.
I need to stay in a place not too far from the stream without being too exposed for other monsters to take notice of me.
Aside from that, I needed to find sticks I could use to start a fire that will be used to cook the chicken meat in my inventory.
I looked at the sky and saw that the sun had begun to set, then I picked as many sticks as I could find before settling in a place not too far from the stream.
A few hours had passed once again, but now I had made my very own makeshift fire pit filled with sticks I found lying around on the ground.
I lit the fire with wood and a bright orange flame grew as the area became warm.
I cuddled up close to it to warm myself up against the cold night.
I took a few sticks and positioned them in a way so that I could cook the meat directly above the fire.
Not only that, but I pulled the meat out of my inventory and then began to cook it on the tripod of sticks I made.
I had never done this before, so I didn't know if what I was doing was right or wrong.
I had never cooked a lump of meat like this either, but I decided to wait until the meat turned brown.
I sat and watched as the edges of the meat began to slowly turn brown.
The smell as well had begun to make my mouth salivate as I stared at the meat.
It's been a while since I last ate chicken meat.
The aroma that wafted into the air was also mesmerizing, and I could only hope that it didn't attract anything deadly to my spot.
I was surrounded by trees and everywhere else was dark except for where my fire pit was.
But then…
"What do we have here?" The chuckle of a masculine voice alerted me that I had unwittingly attracted a number of uninvited guests behind me.
I tried to stand up to see who it was, but...
"Woah! Not so fast, little man," Another voice sounded, grabbing both of my hands and dragging me down to the ground.
My frail hands were clutched tightly behind my back as I was made to eat the dirt my face was pressed against.
It was annoying because I didn't even hear them coming.
"Woah! Brother! We got ourselves a real survival here. The kid got chicken." The first male yelled, then chuckled at the excitement of eating my meat.
I couldn't see their faces, but I could hear them and this only made me feel uncomfortable because it makes me feel vulnerable, and I don't like that.
"Hehe..... Is that so? I knew I smelled something delicious," A third voice sounded right above me.
These men don't know who they're messing with.
