Disaster CH 1

Wailing in his confused mother's arms was a newborn. The fierceness in his eyes seemed to have disappeared, instead replaced with a glazed look of confusion and intrigue. "Why oh why are you crying so much my dear Leonis?", the mother whispered. It was clear that she was not used to the sudden increase in activity her child had begun to display. After all, Leonis was often quiet and reserved, frighteningly so. Even with the extra noise, the mother could not help but sigh in relief that her baby was finally acting as expected. Taking the crying as Leonis' urge to eat, the mother began nursing her child.

Hurried footsteps approached the mother before a figure only adorning a towel rushed in, his glasses slipping as he came to a halt. "What's happened!?", he quickly said while looking around "is anyone injured?" he once again questioned. This was Leonis' father, a man who was often carefree except when it came to his family. The man in question appeared quite frail, he had short dark hair and eyes that drooped down.

"Nothing has happened dear, Leonis just appears to be a bit distressed." The nursing mother stated in a monotonous tone, clearly annoyed by the interruption. Eventually, soft tremors began to pass through the city. Perhaps it was simply random activity that occurred or maybe it was more.

Soon after the tremors passed, Leonis' father received an urgent call that required him to meet up with the caller in person. Once again, the father's usually carefree expression did a drastic shift as his face began to tighten up in seriousness.

"Sorry dear, it appears I must attend to something" he stated.

"Understood, I'll take care of anything" the mother then repeated sternly.

As time passed by, the light of the sun slowly dimmed down and casted long shadows of metallic structures upon the city. However, the normally peaceful night was soon to be shattered by an ominous rumble. A giant serpent monster, scales glinting in the dim light, slithered through the ground below the streets, cracking the roads above as the serpentine mass darted toward the small apartment complex that nestled in the corner of the block. The creature's piercing, yellow eyes fixed on the small, flickering lights on the seventh floor, sensing strong lifeforce within. With it's undulating movements, it slowly approached the building while under the cover of the tar.

Inside the apartment, a fierce mother cradled her newborn child while staring at the ground before her. Leonis' mother's  sharp senses were heightened, and was immediately alerted to the danger lurking outside. Her heart raced, but she remained calm, knowing she had to protect her child at all costs. The increasingly hastening vibrations seemed to further enhance the fierceness in her eyes.

Suddenly, a deafening crash echoed through the night as the serpent monster tore a massive hole in the apartment wall. Debris flew through the air as the creature's massive head thrust into the home, its jaws snapping with violent desire. The mother quickly cradled her child in her arms and continued to stare at the vile beast.

While holding her child, the mother began to move towards the beast as silvery particles began to gather around her. As the particles began to gather, the soft shine of an grey insignia could be seen etched upon her pupil. As the mother walked towards the beast, a flicker of grey flames ignited in her palms, swirling and growing into a fierce blaze. The grey flames crackled with a mystic glow, ready to defend her child.

The mother then lunged towards the beast while launching the mysterious flames towards it. The flames engulfed the monster, and as they made contact with the serpent's scales, they began to decay, turning into a smoky plume that clouded the building. The creature writhed in agony, its hisses echoing through the night as it attempted to retreat from the relentless assault.

The mother continued dodging the serpent's thrashing tail and avoiding its acidic fangs. She utilised the flames with precision, with each burst of grey flames degrading it further. The serpent's previously vicious form began to crumble under the fire, its scales disintegrating into ashes as it writhed in pain.

With one final powerful blast of the silver-grey flames, the mother vanquished the monster. Its form predominantly forming an amalgam of various bodily organs. The danger had passed, yet the city was louder than ever as pure destruction rained across the landscape.

The mother then grabbed her child and evacuated the severely damaged building, sprinting down the stairs and avoiding vulnerable locations. Amidst the chaos, blobs of water could be seen compiling on the building, attempting to extinguish the raging flame.

Upon escaping the building, the mother held her wailing baby as she glanced upon the smoldering city. Every building was either destroyed or nearing it. An orchestra of excruciatingly loud sounds could be heard reverberating across the city as multitudes of colours flashed from different sections of the city.

The mother, although frightened for her child's safety, was aware of what she had to do. Firstly, she had to find somewhere safe to place her child.

Once again, the soles of her began to gather with particles of silvery grey before a plume of fire emerged from them, propelling her forward wile she held tightly to her baby. As she continued to fly she eventually landed before a concrete cube with seemingly no details nor texture.

As soon as she placed her hands upon the cube, an opening came forth as a face of the cube descended into the ground. Inside, merely shelves of canned food and water. The mother then placed her child onto the floor, ensuring he was settled before whispering one final message.

"Mommy will be back soon."

She then kissed her child and closed the door once more before the plumes once again appeared and she took flight back into the city.

The mother and her flowing silver hair commanded a fierce aura as she commanded her flames to coil around her body in the shape of a cloak that flowed with a noble power.

Beside her stood the father, his face once again quite lackluster. This time, however, he was not carefree, he was simply calm. His hands were clapsed as a radiant golden aura coiled around his body, materialising into a golden armour that demanded respect, almost as though he was the emperor. In his arm he held a golden spear while behind him hung a golden bow.

As the city trembled and collapsed, they looked upon the largest monster in their city, it was a a small city after all.

The pair then began to approach the beast, quickly dashing towards the beast before it could caus any more damage.

The mother danced amidst the chaos as her flames propelled her body across the air, her grey flames leaving trails of destruction in their wake. With each strike, she whittled away at the beast's monstrous form, her movements a deadly ballet that caused and reduced destruction.

Meanwhile, the father stood firm, his golden armor gleaming in the fading light. with the golden power he wielded, he slashed at the beast and cut apart its body. Slinging the bow over his shoulder, he fired arrows that pierced the beast before promptly exploding in a vibrant golden hue. With each consecutive slash of his spear it seemed as though the monster had merely received paper cuts, it was clear they were overpowered.

As the battle continue to rage on, it was clear they would not be able to win alone. Each attack that the monster released from its sulfuric maws corroded their bodies and burnt their skin.

As the pair looked at their own bodies and the puss that leaked from their open wounds, they knew they could not kill the beasts without dying in the process. With the blood leaking from their bodies and loose tendrils of muscle and fat gracing the air on the exterior, they had to make their decision soon.

With one final look, they nodded. They thought of their son, a cherished gift that acted as a beacon. They merely hoped he could be raised by their closest friend. And in that moment, as their eyes diverged, they began their final attack. An insignia appeared upon their eyes, dyeing their scleras neon, a radiant symbol hen began that shine with blinding brilliance. Their eyes began to bleed, as their bodies convulsed with synchronised pain.

Summoning every ounce of their remaining strength, The pair began to look towards the sky as a dense mass of particles of silver and gold began to gather atop the city. Together, they called forth their strongest attack, as a blade of herculean proportions that shone like the sun appeared in the sky.

The blade itself looked ethereal, its blade made of pure gold and wreathed in the mother's grey flames. With one final push, the duo beckoned the blade to descend onto the beast, attempting to crush it.

The ground trembled beneath them as the sword struck the monster with unseen speeds, piercing the beast's heart with a blinding blur of glistening shine. In that moment, the skewered beast had begun to decay from the inside out as its organs spewed across the city, painting the buildings red as the scent of sulphur encompassed the city.

As the city fell silent, the mother and father held onto one another for support as their breathing began to quicken, with one final action they embraced one another and collapsed. When they hit the ground, their bodies began to smush up into a paste of bones and tissue. It was truly a gruesome death that came with the destruction of their muscles and connective tissue. With one final thought, the mother then used he flames to set them both on fire, to ensure they were cremated.

In the aftermath of the battle, as the city mourned the loss of all those who died, others simply had no time to mourn as they had to begin looking for another place to live in.

With the city completely decimated, the residents could only be thankful for being alive. As thanks to their saviours, they collected their ashes into opulent vases and placed them into an alter. Hoping that eventually, someone would come to collect them, someone who was important to them.

In the concrete cube outside the city, a bald man adorning a large coat and wearing sunglasses could be seen approaching it. As he opened the door, he took off his glasses and glanced at the child that lay asleep through his tear filled eyes. He then picked up the child, closed the cube once again and began his journey back from where he came from.
