"Here we are, Romeo. Welcome to the edge of civilisation." Alfred announced as the duo walked into a bustling hall that looks more like a waiting room of some sort.
"Woah. This is awesome." Romeo couldn't help but comment as he swept his gaze across the architectural marvel of the hall.
"See Romeo, with a little patience, you would be able to cook a stone till it's done." Alfred stated as he pats the shoulder of Romeo. "Now you stay here like a good boy while I go get our tickets." Alfred said before walking away from Romeo.
"Oh, and Romeo, do not do anything stupid. Wait there till I come back." Alfred paused in his steps as he turns to warn Romeo sternly. Having received a nod from Romeo, Alfred proceeded with his movements as he blends into the bustling crowd.
Romeo soon return to admiring the beauty of the Spatial Port. The whole infrastructure screams of the state of the art architectural magnificence while being adorn by cutting edge technology that seems to good to be true.
Besides the manner in which the entire Spatial Port seems to seamlessly blends in with the natural terrain of the mountain it was built in, the sight of sentient artificial intelligence going around with their businesses alongside the amount of high-tech utilities set ups around the Port is enough for Romeo to get drunk in the magnificence of the Port.
However, besides the sentient artificial beings and the high-tech setups around the Port, another feature that truly draws the attention of Romeo is the kind of people moving around in the Port. For starters, their mode of dressing clearly reflects the kind of aristocratic background they tend to have and judging by the auras being emitted by them, Romeo can tell that they've awakened their Carnal Genes.
While Romeo was still busy exploring the Port with his curious gaze, Alfred is struggling to get tickets for the both of them.
"What do you mean I am not permitted to buy a ticket?" Alfred questions, his tone carrying the hint of anger as he stares at the dignified female attendant before him.
"That is not what I met, sir. All I am trying to say is that I don't have the permission to sell you a ticket." The female attendant replies while trying to calm Alfred's raging hormones down. This action of hers might be possible if she was not wearing the look of obvious disdain directed at Alfred.
"That is the same thing. Just admit that you simply do not want to sell the ticket to me." Alfred shouted in frustration. He could discern from the way the woman is staring at him that it wasn't because she does not have the permission to sell him a ticket that she refused to allow him to buy it but because of the disdain she holds for him.
Alfred is no fool. He could tell that since the whole Spatial Port, even though it existed in the slums, was hidden from those who lived in the slums based on the fact that they are considered as outcasts, then it would simply be difficult for him to buy a ticket even if he was to get permission.
Alfred inhaled deeply with his eyes closed. Letting out the breath, he opens his eyes while pinching the bridge Rd of his nose as he questions, "What if there is a way for you to sell me the tickets?"
"Excuse me?" The attendant raised her brows while crossing her arms as she glared at Alfred. "I am sorry but I do not accept bribes." She spoke coldly having figured out the type of way Alfred might be referring to.
Alfred simply chuckles at the words of the attendant. "I never said anything about bribing you now, did I?" He asks with a playful smile on his lips. "However, I think you would be pretty much interested in what I am going to give you in exchange for just two tickets."
"Sir, I am going to ask you to leave. Leave before I call for security." The attendant threatens but Alfred still refuses to back down.
Instead of leaving, Alfred simply took the backpack off his shoulders before removing two Beast Cores from it. Holding the Beast Cores out towards the attendant, he spoke, "I doubt security would be able to cater for your needs unlike the way two Beast Cores would be able to."
As the attendant saw the glowing cores in the hands of Alfred, the cold face she was wearing is quickly replaced by one of shock and greed. Never in her life would she think of gaining two Beast Cores being an attendant in the Spatial Port. As someone whose Carnal Gene is considered the lowest of all ranks in the world of the Elites, she was condemned to years of hardwork in the Port just so that she would be able to fend for herself and her family, a task that seems impossible until this moment. But now, looking at this cores before her, she felt that her life would finally be able to take a great turn around.
"How about you sell me two tickets for two Beast Cores, uhm?" Alfred asks while snapping the attendant out of her trance.
"Where did you get such amounts of Beast Cores?" The attendant couldn't help but ask with furrowed brows as she stares at Alfred scrupulously.
As far as she knows, Beast Cores are extremely rare to come by in the slums especially since there remain no existence of a beast in the slums unlike the civilised world where they are rampant.
Also, the fact that Alfred could be able to get his hands on not just one but two Beast Cores is a proof that he is not an ordinary person. In a world where the exploits of humans depends on the type of power they possess, the attendant could tell clearly that Alfred might not be a citizen of the slums but rather a member of one of the house of Elites.
"Where and how I got it are not your concern." Alfred hissed with a tinge of impatience lacing his tone, "Will you get me the tickets or not? If not, then I guess you have no problem with me taking my business elsewhere." Alfred said as he moves to put the Cores back into the bag.
"Okay. Two tickets for Land Climax coming right up." The attendant said as she pushed some buttons on the computer before her. After typing in some stuffs, she brought out two tickets and gave it to Alfred who had a subtle smug smile on his face as he passes her the Beast Cores.
"See, that wasn't so hard. It was nice doing business with you anyways." Alfred says before walking away from the counter while leaving the attendant who cautiously and carefully put away the Beast Cores.
Making his way back to where he left Romeo, Alfred was surprised to see a scene that almost caused his eyeballs to pop out of their sockets unfolding. It seems like Romeo didn't understand when Alfred told him not to do anything stupid.
"I already apologized. What else do you want?!" Romeo gritted his teeth as he glares at the young man before him.
With dirty blonde hair that is neatly combed to the back and ocean blue eyes that compliments the colour of the suit he is donning, the young man seems to be a noble judging by the air of arrogance that surrounds him alongside the bloodthirsty armoured guards around him. Apparently, the young man looks like he is in his early twenties based on his appearance.
"Apology?" The young man sneers as he gazed at Romeo like he was looking at garbage, "You ran into me and you think an apology would be enough for the damage you caused me?"
"Ran into you? Damage? I did no such thing." Romeo refuted. "You clearly were the one who wasn't looking at where you are walking yet I had to apologize for an action that I did not commit."
"Are you questioning my senses. Do you think that I would be blind enough to bump into a lowly creature such as you? You must be joking." The young man said as he let out a scoff. "Since you are not ready to take full responsibility for your actions, I guess I would have to punish you myself."
As the young man said those words, the two armoured guards behind him move towards Romeo with a bloodthirsty aura. One could discern from their aura the kind of intention they harbour clearly.
Looking at the scene playing out before him, the young man has a smirk plastered on his face as he cross his arms. "Make sure to teach him a lesson so that he would never mess with me again." The young man said and at his command, the two guards rushed towards Romeo.
