The Attack (Olivia POV)

It was almost two weeks since Francis and his army arrived at the border area. They went to the battlefield everyday, which made me worry. Well it wasn't like I could do something about it. The only thing that I could do for them was prepare food, water and medicines.

But that sily prince, Francis, he worried about me more than himself. He was the one who went to the battlefield, yet he was also the one who asked Noah to be my knight and put some additional knights to guard me. Moreover, those knights were his trusted knights as well as the Whitley children that were saved by me from the west building.

"Inside the box you gave me that day, you mentioned knights that I can trust. As you asked, I took them into my private army. They will guard this shelter area and you during the war." I tried to protest, but Francis ignored me.

Frustrated, I tried to ask the knights, hoping they would listen to me. "Why don't you follow his highness to the battlefield and help him. The guard for the shelter area is strong enough already."

"I'm sorry, miss. But his highness wanted us to stay here and guard this area." That was what they answered me. I couldn't force them and made them feel uncomfortable right? So I just accepted it.

One day, an accident happened. That felt like a terrible nightmare where I forced myself to wake up but I couldn't.

That day, everything started as usual. The army went to the battlefield and the villagers and I went to prepare everything for the shelter. In the afternoon, I was preparing the medicines when I heard an explosion and saw a red smoke from the battlefield. That was the signal that the army was in an emergency situation.

"Noah, we should help them!" I stood up and was about to go. But Noah and Raphael blocked my way. "Let me go!" I tried to ignore and break through them.

With his strong hand, Noah held my body. "Miss. Please understand, the condition is serious. We cannot let you go there and make his highness lose his focus because he worries about you. The other knights will go as backup and help them."

"No. Noah, listen. Bring me to where the knights will gather and go. I have a bad feeling about this as well as a solution." I looked at him right in his eyes. "Please Noah, Raphael. We don't want something bad to happen right?"

They finally gave up and Noah brought me to the army post. There the knights were gathered to prepare to go. "Miss!" Everyone was shocked to see me there. "What are you doing?"

"Don't go to the battlefield directly. You will make the condition worse." Everyone was silenced when they heard my words. "It's better that we help them silently from a hidden place."

They looked at eachother, confused and couldn't believe a girl like me talked about strategy. Yet no one dared to cut my words because they saw me close to Francis.

"Divide the army into two groups. One will deal with them directly and the other and I will spread and deal with the enemy's hidden army. After that, we replace them and silently shoot poisoned arrows at the enemy." I handed a bottle of poison. "This poison is a strong one. Don't worry, his highness knows that I have this."

Someone stepped forward. "Are you sure this will work, miss?"

"As long as we work together then this will work."

He looked behind, at his friends, as if asking for their opinion. "Then I will trust you. But if something happens, you will be the one that is responsible." He said as he took the poison from my hand.

All the knights one by one covered their weapons with poison fastly. That poison was cherub poison from the contaminated river. In these three weeks I managed to make it stronger by adding some herbs and ingredients I found. Only Francis and Noah knew about this.

In a minute, everything was ready and it was time to move. "Charlize!" Raphael held my hand. "Do you have to go? Just stay here and prepare for everything as usual. That place is dangerous."

I removed his hand slowly. "I'm sorry but I have to go. Please take care of the medicines and everything else. Guard the shelter well along with the knights." I smiled widely to erase his worry. Honestly I wondered if he really worried about me or not. The fact that he was talking with Rowan before disturb me.

The knights and I then went to the battlefield and executed our plan. Noah followed me and the second group to deal with the enemy silently; he always stayed beside me. He protected me perfectly and dealt with all the enemy's army we faced.

Honestly, I wasn't really good at fighting things like this, but I had to see it myself so I could help. At least I knew how to use a bow and was quite good at it.

From the hidden side of the battlefield, I could see the condition really well. Francis and his knights were surrounded by the enemy's army and they were badly injured. It was fortunate that the first group arrived on time and helped them. Without waiting any longer, I and the second group started to shoot our arrows at the enemy.

The enemy seemed confused because they were shooted from their secret army's hiding place. From the way they acted, I could say that they didn't expect this to happen.

As I had expected, there were spies among the knights. I had to discuss the next plan after this battle to make sure this war would end with Francis' victory. For the time being, safing everyone was the top priority.

A few hours passed and in the end, we managed to save a lot of people and returned back to the shelter area. The knights and people there had been waiting for us and started to help.

At night, Francis called all his trusted knights that he assigned to guard me. "How come Charlize entered the battlefield!" His face turned dark. "Especially you Noah. I asked you to accompany her! Do you know how surprised I was during that time!"

I, who just arrived at their tent, felt guilty. I wanted to apologize to Francis for making him worry, but his voice made me doubt. That was my first time to see he was angry that way.

"We're sorry, your highness." Everyone just bowed their heads.

Francis exhaled hardly, made me feel more guilty. 'You have to apologize! Those knights are scolded because of you!' I made up my mind and approached them.

"Your highness." I bowed at Francis. "This is my fault. They stopped me from going to the battlefield, yet I forced them to let me go. So please don't be angry at them."

Francis sighed. "Alright. Everyone may leave." He said to all his knights. Only Noah and I left with him. "Let's talk. I hope you have a good explanation for what you did." He entered the tent with Noah and I followed.

Inside the tent I started my explanation. "As you worry about me, I worry about you too. I saw your signal, so I wanted to help. But more importantly, I confirmed that there are spies among your army. The easy guess is those who graduated from Ashford's knight academy."

"You confirmed it?" Francis frowned.

"I know your strategy and based on it, I predict the enemy's strategy and move. Surprisingly, my prediction is almost accurate." I continued.

"Then, we should take care of those spies. It will be difficult since most of the royal army graduated from that academy." He held his head with one hand and the three of us were silent, thinking in a good way.

"How if we do this?" I proposed. "For the next battle, make two plans. The first one is what everyone knows, and the other is your secret plan with your trusted knights. That secret plan will be the backup if a situation like today happens. To catch the spies, we have to do extra work to check every single person."

After we finished with our discussion, Francis held a meeting with all the army to discuss their strategy. While for me, I returned back to my tent and took a rest. That day was a tiring one.

Honestly, talking about spies, I always felt unsafe. Since I saw Raphael talking with Rowan secretly, I became so anxious. The thought that Raphael betrayed me and became Rowan's spy to watch me always hunted me down every time.
