The Camp Ground Mystery

"Well, hello, fan base! I will show you guys some intriguing things about this boring camp that I come across. Maybe I will be lucky and find a liquor bottle or two," Casey smiled while holding her phone out to record what she had found.

She went to the office first thing and started looking threw the drawers and found a locked one, which was odd. It made her smile, though, because she may have found a secret stash of alcohol hidden in Mr. Hence's desk. She started looking for a key and heard the floor squeak as she stepped on the large rug near his wooden chair.

She lifted the heavy wool rug and revealed a trap door, making her smile more because she thought she had found a wine cellar or just a cellar for emergencies like tornadoes or a wolf attack. She put her phone down and quickly tried lifting the large wooden door that was surprisingly heavy. It took her a couple of tries to lift it, but when she did lift it, she was greeted by a ladder and complete and total darkness.

She grabbed her phone and turned on her phone light to still see nothing but darkness. It must have been far down, but she was extremely curious to find out what was down there, so, like any interested person, she went down the ladder. It was extremely dark and kind of cold. She looked around and saw chains and crates as she shined the light in the massive underground bunker.

She went deeper in but found nothing that would be good to use for the party, but as she was about to leave, she saw a collar on the ground behind some boxes. She picked it up and saw it was covered in dust and old blood, making her drop it. Sam was written on the collar making her sigh weakly. Sam was the camp mascot, a sweet goat of all things, but something killed him a month before they even arrived.

"Why did they keep your collar down here?! sick bastard!" She said as she felt something watching her.

She turned around quickly but saw and heard nothing. She stood there for a while to see if anything lurked in the darkness, but nothing came at her or got lit by the light of her flashlight. She went back up the ladder but halfway up, a breeze hit her back. She looked around and saw nothing, but how could that be if there was no wind in this cellar? It must have been a bat or a bird that found its way into the basement.

She went up and shut the door slowly so it wouldn't creak as she put it down. she covered it back up and saw a journal of some sort playing on his desk. She picked it up and opened it up to see it had all of their names in it with a picture next to it. They were check marks next to some of their names, making her uneasy. There was a checkmark next to Sofia, Maxwell, and Rose, while the others had nothing next to them.

It could have been people he would rehire again but if that was the case, why have so much on them? he had a lot of stuff on them from social media, birthdays, cars, and what looked like a note on the side of Sofia's name. She smiled a bit as she picked up the small piece of paper and put it in her pocket. Sofia was hiding a real juicy secret, and now she was going to expose it just for the fun of it. It's not like they would see each other again anytime soon; a perfect time to figure out who a person is instead of hiding it behind a mask.

Jacob was cooking dinner while Roy set up camp next to the lake. He loved the peace when no one was around. Jacob wasn't much of a people person or even liked kids that much, but what he loved the most about being out in the woods was the ghost stories he could tell. Jacob loved horror movies and ghost stories, but he knew he had gone too far the last couple of times. He doesn't mean to, but it just happened. Sofia wasn't there thankfully; otherwise, she would have kicked his butt.

"Hey, we got more wood for the stove. What happened to Sofia and Tom?" Max asked.

"I don't know where he went. I think they went to get firewood for Roy to use," he answered.

"Oh, that's odd. Tom doesn't seem like that type of guy, too, you know to help," Rose said.

"Roy seems to think that there is something between Tom and Sofia. I overheard them talking, but I wasn't too interested in it. I rather stay out of the drama and cook. This is why I like food better than people," he smirked.

"I should go look for them if something is going on. I don't want Tom and Rose fucking in the woods," Rose informed.

"Like you guys haven't done that, you guys are sneak out a lot," he smiled, making Max blush a bit.

"Max, stay here with him. I will look for them, and hopefully, I don't find them naked," she said as Max sighed.

"Dude, get a backbone already. She tells you what to do a lot," Jacob informed.

"I know; I have some personal issues and don't mind. If I say something about it, we talk about it," he informed.

"That's nice; not a lot of people do that. No wonder you guys work so well together," Jacob informed.

"She tries; I don't know how she deals with me sometimes," he chuckled.

"So... Sofia, why did you want to be a counselor here at the camp?" Tom asked.

"I needed a job? Plus, I'm good with kids," she informed.

She picked up another stick, and he smiled a bit as her long blond hair almost touched the ground. He liked her a lot; she was a fantastic artist, but he never had the guts to tell him that himself. He tried, but for once, he was shy around her. he was nervous around a woman, which never happened. He didn't know if it was from the long eight weeks without getting laid or if he was interested in her for how kind she was.

"I saw it, I mean when you worked with them. I lost my patience with a couple of them myself. Sofia, I know it isn't my business, but are you sure you will be alright?" Tom asked.

"As long as I stay calm and stress-free. Tom, I'm not sure why all of a sudden you are interested in talking with me but it kind of bugs me how you decide now, when we are alone, to do it," she informed.

"I'm sorry. I know I should have talked to you more, but honestly..." he paused as he saw a hunting camera on a tree.

He touched it and noticed blood was on it. It was old blood, but that worried him a lot. Mr. Hence told them about the cameras and checked them regularly so no kids would get lost or do something stupid when no one was watching them. Sofia stopped walking and turned to look at Tom. He seemed worried and deep in thought which seemed funny to think about. She thought he only thought about girls and getting laid all the time.

"Are you okay, Tom?" she asked as he looked over at her and smiled a bit reassuringly

"Yes, there is just blood on this, so someone must have cut themselves trying to put it up or take it down," he said.

"That's odd; I hope that person is alright. I'm going to go up ahead to get some more firewood," she put in as she left him behind.

He sighed and cursed under his breath as he collected more sticks for the campfire. Sofia walked ahead and came across a box of some sort, making her worry that hunters were around. If there were poachers out, then they could become the next target if they weren't careful. Sofia went to the box and put the sticks aside so she could look at the plain white box. she opened it up to find clothes were inside, making her confused but even more terrified. Maybe there were hunters in the woods or, worse, serial killers.
