Chapter 10: This might be a problem

Following the group was quite hard, but I managed to keep up as I trailed the slow-moving group of ratmen through the city. They were carrying the ooze beast, which dripped with neon green liquid, leaving a trail behind them that unsurprisingly attracted more ooze beasts. However, it was how the ratmen dealt with these creatures that intrigued me.

They employed formations, tactics, and intimidation, even managing to kill a tier 1 ooze beast that leaped from the nearby ruins. This display of skill was impressive, even though they lost a single ratman in the process.

Finally, the ratmen reached the museum, or what was once the museum. Now, it stood as a fortress, its walls constructed from the rubble of the surrounding city ruins. Patrolling the area were well-armored and armed ratmen, all displaying a unity that disturbed me to no end.

Sadly, I couldn't investigate further due to the presence of Ratmen everywhere. However, that didn't mean I didn't observe anything noteworthy. I caught sight of a large variety of ratmen: massive, hulking ratmen who were being directed by their smaller kin to move large rocks; ratmen with weird green gas leaking off of them, holding staffs adorned with skulls of other ratmen on cloaks covering their bodies, as they commanded and taught other ratmen. In summary, it was evident that the ratmen were evolving rapidly.

'I need to get stronger,' that's all I could think as I knew full well that at the rate these Ratmen were progressing, they would infest the entire city in less than half a year. I had no intention of letting them advance that far, especially since they reminded me of the Skaven from Warhammer Fantasy, and I knew how difficult they could become to fight when their numbers swelled.

With that, I departed, my focus shifting from stabilizing my existence to the new objective of crushing the Ratmen before they grew too strong. To achieve this, I needed strength, which I could only acquire by hunting beasts. Thus, without further delay, I left the Ratmen, or rather, the skaven, to their own devices, and intensified my hunt for ooze beasts.

Next day I began attacking the tier 1 beast which yes it was hard but it didn't mean impossible as I now hid in the pile of corpses which covered me in that disgusting green ooze but I didn't care as any beast that came near found piece of rebar going through there eye and into skulls.

This eventually got me the reward I wanted
