SUBJECT 051(C.M), 052(L.M) ARRIVING

[Wednesday]

°°°

''Can't you just shut up one time in your life?!'' I yell at my brother who suddenly started to talk about some random and irrelevant stuff from school. For what I most definitely don't have the time and feeling right now.

''What if I don't?'' Caleb asks back, grinning cheekily and I sigh annoyed. Not answering because I know he will just continue like that.

''Did you already finish the English project?''

That idiot really thinks I want to talk to him about school right now.

''I said I don't care.'' I just say and continue reading my book.

''No, Lydia. You actually didn't.'' He laughs and I close the book as loud as possible before I look at him.

If looks could kill he would be dead by now.

''Shut the fuck up! I don't care!'' I scoff and stand up fastly while Caleb continues laughing.

Doesn't he have some hobbie, which isn't annoying the living shit out of me? I know I am not a nice person towards him even though he is my brother but it is hard when your parents always compare both of you like this is some contest you have to win. It just doesn't make sense.

''Oh calm down, sis.'' He follows me into the kitchen and I turn around, glancing at him while shaking my head slowly.

''Why do you have to annoy me?'' I ask again and he frowns.

''Sorry that I'm trying to socialize!'' He almost shouts and goes fastly upstairs, slamming the door loudly behind him.

Since we were younger, Caleb always had kind of a short temper and instead of getting better, it just got worse. He would smash things from time to time.

''Then socialize with someone else!'' I scream upstairs and sit back down at the sofa after I grabbed myself some water to drink.

It is around ten minutes later, when I hear something like a chair or so falling at the ground in the basement.

Expecting my brother wanting to scare me, I sigh in annoyance and sit up.

''Get out of the basement, Caleb!'' I scream loudly, waiting for him to get out of there.

Instead of that, he shouts back from upstairs and my heart skips a beat.

''I'm not in the fucking basement, Lydia!''

''Well who is it then?! It's not me, fuck face!'' I yell back and stand up, purposely avoiding the basement while going upstairs to Caleb's Room.

This might look weird now, but between all this mess and our kind of broken relationship he is still my brother and I know that he wouldn't hurt me purposely.

''Can you--''. I begin as soon as I arrive in his room, but Caleb points at the TV in his room and I shut up directly.

The screen shows the news. Apparently there are four teenagers our age missing in also our area and that in only twenty-four hours!

''Jaden Mack and Parker Heegan are currently since two days missing now. Not long after that, Finnegan Grayson and Leah Gipson disappeared. If you see or know anything, call the local police. Thank you, for your time.'' The reporter talks and the screen shows pictures of the missing kids.

''Ha! They do be lost!'' Caleb laughs and I hit him on his arm as hard as I can.

''Ow!'' He yells and I roll my eyes.

''It's not funny, you dork!'' I say serious and gulp nervously.

''I will call Mom now.'' Already standing up for going downstairs, my brother suddenly holds me, surprisingly, back.

''You can have my phone if you are too scared to go downstairs from your noises.'' He laughs a little and I grab his phone, not saying thanks but showing him a little smile.

I fastly choose her contact and click on 'call'.

Feeling, how I get more and more nervous with every time it rings instead of hearing the caring voice from my- our Mom.

''She isn't responding,'' I sigh and Caleb rolls his eyes, still not believing me.

''Hey, it's not funny!'' I say to his laughing, getting scared a little from the fear that someone could already be in the house.

''Okay, okay. Then let's lock every door and window, so that you feel safe.'' Connor suggests and I nod, secretly thankful for the idea and that he is actually helping me.

It wasn't always like this, still isn't completely. As I already said our parents are basically inciting both of us against each other like this is some kind of show for them. That is not fair and unacceptable in my opinion.

He quickly stands up and closes his own window before we go through the entire house, closing every door and window except for the single door which goes to the basement.

Still not going any step closer to it, I stand still in the livingroom where Caleb sits down on the sofa. Glancing at me in concern.

''You okay?'' He asks and I snap out of my staring at the basement door.

''What- yes. What do you care?'' I roll my eyes and turn around to him, feeling weird because Caleb actually looks kind of worried about me.

''You sure?'' He continues asking and I sigh, deciding to tell him the truth this time.

''No, you?'' I raise an eyebrow and Caleb stands up.

It's kind of terrifying that he is actually almost two heads taller than me.

''You are just being paranoid, sis.'' He sighs laughingly, while going to the kitchen. Apparently filling his glass with some water.

Sis. If he would have said that like a few weeks ago, I would have felt disgusted by that. Now it's cool between us most of the time so I don't mind. Parents don't always have control about everything.

''I'm not! Don't you listen to me!'' I snap on him and Caleb frowns, drinking the last bit of the water in his glass.

''Do you want me to check it out and prove that you are just paranoid?'' He suggests and I cross my arms.

''Is your dead wish that big?'' I look into his eyes daringly, he just beams back.

''Yup, apparently.''

With that words Caleb turns around and walks further to the basement door.

If I wouldn't know it better, I would think he looks a bit of afraid.

''See ya in hell then!'' He jokes and I gulp heavily, going a bit backwards with every step he goes towards the basement.

''Yeah..'' I sigh, but can't get rid of the feeling that we are in some kind of stupid horror movie where the main characters always walk to the noise in the basement.

The moment I realize that, I sprint the last meters to the basement door, ignoring my fear and looking if I am able to see my brother somewhere down there.

''Caleb?!'' I shout downstairs and hear a laugh.

''I'm fine!''

I sigh in relief and go back to the livingroom, putting my timer on ten minutes.

Of course just in case he won't answer when I ask again if he is really alright.

The minutes pass by and I wince when I suddenly hear the timer from my phone ringing.

With shaking legs, I walk towards the door and look carefully into the darkness.

''Are you alright?'' I ask quietly and wait for an answer for around thirty seconds.

''It's not funny!'' I shout shakily, but am still hearing not a single noise.

Grabbing after a baseball bat I see in the corner between the door and the beginning of the wall, I climb slowly downstairs and the growing feeling of horror gets bigger and bigger until it feels like I can't breathe anymore.

''Are you here? Caleb, I swear to god!'' I hiss and turn on my phone light, glancing over at the left side of the room before I turn around and jump, seeing two strangers here.

I knew it! I fucking new it!

''Wha- who- who are you?!'' I try to get out of the basement with moving only a very few steps, but one of the men stands in front of the door now.

''Rule number one. Don't ask questions.'' I hear one of them saying, kind of robotic though, before I see a silhouette sitting against the back wall.

''What did you do to him?!'' I gasp after air when I recognize it is my brother and I am way too shocked for moving again.

''Rule number one. Don't ask questions.'' He repeats and I snap at him.

''I got that, dumbass! I just don't give a fuck!'' I yell and the guy who isn't standing in the door walks over to me.

''We got 051 and 052, it's going upstairs to the transport now.'' The door guy speaks with a clear voice and I get one last look at Caleb because I fall unconsciously to the floor.

I didn't expect that, to take so long. It seems like they are careful and this will be very useful, 002.

There are 9 people left. We are soon at the beginning of a new world.

Stay safe my friend.
