He eventually fell asleep, holding my waist as I breathed calmly. I stared at the ceiling, unable to sleep, my mind spinning with thoughts of how Heather had connected herself to the same person after my father. It felt like she had found a common enemy—someone she could manipulate to bring him down.
The relief that my father was innocent lingered in my chest. With a witness to prove his innocence, I felt a bit lighter, though the truth was far from simple. Castiel had mentioned that Giovanni had likely been tracking the Nightclaw leader's activities and had mistakenly thought my father was the one due to their resemblance. I wished this whole mess would end soon, so we could go home and leave all the lies behind.
