Mission [Part-3]

A veil of cerulean enveloped Boruto under the shining moon, his gaze wandered to the starless sky.

As Fate's End manifested in his hands, the four people behind him blinked in surprise. He gazed back, no light reflecting in his blue eyes.

"Careful... The forest is filled with dangerous insects and animals"

The guard named Arisu growled at him. "Well, isn't it your job to protect us then?"

"I'm not Almighty..."

Parting with those words, Boruto shifted his vision back to their path ahead, the moonlight illuminated the land.

Their journey continued, Boruto made three Shadow Clones for scouting, any predator detected became prey.

As they continued their journey, a grim formed on Boruto's face, unease rose in his heart as they ventured deep into the vast, and dangerous forest.

'What's up with this place'

Drowned in darkness, not even the slightest of moonlight evaded through the thick leaves. His gaze fixed on the high lady.

He lit a torch using Fire Style on a branch wrapped in cloth, and the faces of his 'Mission' became vivid.

The high lady looked calm and collected, the guards and the old woman were shivering in the cold.

Carving warmth, as soon as the people saw the torch, they tried to approach it. The sharp edge of Fate's End blazed into life, gesturing to cut anyone nearing him.

"P-Please... Let u-us get clo...se"

Arisu tried to persuade Boruto, but the latter walked further with no indication to cooperate.

Boruto's clones failed to discover an exit, the discomfort in his heart rose. The forest screamed dread at every corner.

"Forest of the Scavenger"

The words echoed, glancing at the high lady, his brows knotted in suspicion. "Care to explain?". Boruto asked.

The gorgeous lady stopped in her tracks, Boruto halted in his steps and neared her.

"My... Father, used to tell tales about a forgotten legend. It was said that those who are fated with a dark future would face a being of true darkness, a demon of sin"

The bushes rustled, Boruto raised his blade. His eyes scanned the surroundings for something... Anything.

However, there was not a single source of sound, absolute pin-drop silence.

The guards and the old woman fell into despair, the mind clouded in fear. But, as their gaze landed on the young man's back, a sliver of hope ignited.

Boruto continued to walk.

'A Demon of Sin... A being of true darkness... What could it be?'

He tried to strike up another conversation with the high lady, but she shook her head in response. There was nothing more she knew about the creepy place.

Rustle.

Another shift occurred in the atmosphere, the torch in his left hand died, and so did the flare in his blade.

Agita filled his heart as he tried to mold Chakra, to his unfortune, however, the pool of Chakra inside his abdomen did not move in the slightest.

'I'm unable to use any Ninjutsu... this is a problem'

There was an unknown enemy, strength untold. Without his power to use any sort of Jutsu, it would prove difficult to focus both on the target and his mission.

He could choose the easy way and sacrifice the four people, but that would lead to a failure in his mission... If that were to happen, his evaluation might be decreased and he would be under unnecessary training if he wanted attempt another mission.

Steeling his will to face anything, Boruto cautiously looked out for the 'demon'.

'Good thing I summoned my sword earlier, if not, I might have had an even harder time'

Boruto was more than capable to fight unarmed, but a weapon would prove to be an invaluable helper in his fight for sure.

'Now, where could you be?'
