Chapter 37: The Ball
Time passed and now it was the day of the ball. It would happen sometime at night. Right now I was having girl time with my baby girl, Oldest girl, and Rin who was her future daughter in law. "Ok girls. Can you both still fit into your dresses for the ball?" I said. "Yes mom we tried them on don't worry. Although I think I gained a few pounds its not as loose at it used to be but it still fits." Then I said curiously. "Your not…" "Oh don't worry mom I'm not don't worry." "Ok good. I'd like you to get marred or at least planned." "About plans mom Lindir and I want to talk about something with you later." "Ok sure."
After awhile our girl time was over and I talked to my daughter and her fiancé. "So what is it you need to talk to me about?" "Mom as you know I am 18 Now old enough to get married. We were talking about getting married in a few months." "Oh and when would that be?" "In 6 months. At the end of the month of course." "Lets talk to your father first and see what he says I don't mind. Like you said you are 18 years old. Did you talk to his parents about it?" "Yes we have." Said Lindir. "They didn't accept at first but I talked them into it." "Ok well stay here I will get your father." So I left and they stayed.
"Have you seen Jay anywhere?" "Yes he is in the garden." Said a butler. "Thanks." Then he nodded and I went out to get him. "Hi Jay." "Oh Talia is everything ok?" "Um yes but we have some business with Kida." "Ok lets go then." He picked up Aria and gave her to the maid and headed off with me.
"We are here Kida." "Oh hello mom and dad." So Kida repeated what she told me to Jay. "Hmm. Are you sure that is what you want Kida? I didn't marry your mother until 22. Well I just met her then we got engaged and married. Anyway are you sure you don't want to wait at least 2 or 3 more years? You are still young." "Yes father I am sure. Like Lindir said he talked his parents into it after they refused it so early." "How exactly did you do that?" "Well sir. I told them if they let me marry her I will compromise and wait to have kids for 2 or 3 years but no guarantee. Then he agreed as long as I tried. If I had a child before that he would get over his disappointment." "Sigh. Well as I parent I don't want to let you go so soon. But as a friend of Lindir's parents I will agree with them. You Know we have to announce it right?" "yes sir." "Ok lets go talk to the king."
We went to the King and told him the situation. He agreed with Jay's statement. Then they announced it. After all the commotion, Jay asked, "Oh where do you want to have the wedding?" "The garden is beautiful dad. There is enough room in the spot for our friends and family. That's all I want there." "Yes we can do that." Well then after the ball we should hussle. You two will have a lot of work to do for it." "Thank you daddy. Thankyou uncle." She gave them each a squeeze and mommy too. Then everything was situated and they left the office.
Hours past and it was almost time to leave for the ball. Luckily there was an area with kids Aria's age to hang out. "Ok is everyone ready? Lets go to the ball room then." Jay carried Aria and the others followed us.
When we got to the ball I saw my big brother and sister there already. "Lycan!" I brisk walked over. I was acting like a teenager or a little girl at this moment. "Woah there little sis. Your not that young anymore." "Yeah thanks for pointing that out dummy. How are mom and dad doing?" "They are still alive if that's what you mean. Dad is getting weaker. As for mom she is not in really good health. The doctor said she might not last this year." "I see. I'll make a date to see them soon." "How are my nieces and nephews doing?" "Hey Auntie Talia." said Iris. "Hey there. How have you 4 been doing?" "As good as you can when you have a twin who copies you and is so annoying but it comes in handy when you want to trick your parents." "Haha. Yeah. You both look identical. I know who is who not because of your personality but because…." Then I whispered in her ear. "Are you serious Auntie?" "Haha yes I'm serious." "Aww man not fair." Then she play pouted. I saw my other brothers come in with their dates.
"Derion. You look handsome. Lily you look gorgeous." "Thank you Talia." People greeted me and welcomed me. after all this is what the ball is for. Not only for me but for my family as well.
"Excuse me I have to get some fresh air." I said to my guests. So I went out and sat down in the garden to get some fresh air.
Jay was looking all around for Talia then asking for people where she might be. "Oh excuse me have any of you seen Talia?" "Yes she said she had to get some fresh air." "Ok thank you I know where she is." As soon as he went out he heard a violin playing. She always carries it around when she can. He finally went inside the garden and sat down to wait for her to finish.
Then finally after awhile she finished and slowly opened her eyes. "Oh Jay. Hello. What brought you here?" "I was worried something had happened to you I didn't see you." "Oh I'm fine. You know I am strong. Oh have you seen Koda and his sister?" "Yeah Koda looks pretty good in his outfit and his sister Violet looks beautiful." "I know right?" "I miss those days when we were in our 20's so young and in love. Now we had more love to give to our precious children who are also grown up except for one little one." "Haha yeah she will be a handful for us. Plus we got older siblings to help out as well. I talked to the twins and they said that they would be willing to stay in this castle until she is at least 13." "Oh thank heavens." That would be helpful." "Oh also since we are getting older if we die before she turns 20 or in her 20's Kida said even if she has kids she will take care of her little sister." "Aww that's sweet but I don't plan on dying any time soon." "Yeah me Neither but we have to be prepared." "Sigh. Yes I know."
After all the talking it was time to rest and everyone sat down in their reserved seats. I went up on stage. I talked in the microphone. "Ladies and gentleman. I am here to thank all of you for coming to welcome us here. It has been 6 months since I have lived here and I have gotten used to it. As a thank you for all of you coming you have the privilege to hear me and my children play a few songs. After we play we can take some requests. OK kids ready?" They nodded. Then we played our songs. After 15 minutes we took requests and played those then finally it was time to rest a bit. I went over to jay.
"Hey Jay. I feel a little dizzy. I'm going to the lounge to relax a bit." "Ok let me take you there. Kida watch your little sister your mom isn't feeling good." "Yes dad." Then they left to their room.
After he laid me down. I saw that worried face of his. "I'm fine really. You know I have dizzy spells sometimes. The doctor said if it gets to where I can't handle to let him know." He felt my forehead and said, "You might have a slight fever." "Jay really I'm fine. Will it ease your worry if I see the doctor?" "Well I'll give it a shot." So he got someone to get the royal doctor and he came in minutes.
"Is it your headache again?" said the doc. "Yes but its not bad. Jay is a little to worried. I was a little dizzy then my head hurt a little. He thinks I might have a slight fever." "Ok lets take a look at you." He did a normal checkup on me then he finally took my temperature. "Well he was right. It's a little more than a slight but not bad. I'll give you a shot to get your temperature down." "Thanks doc." Said Jay. As he was giving her a shot he warned them it will make her sleepy. "Thank you sir." "Ok done. Now she probably won't be awake till morning. You might want to carry her to her room for the night." "Yes sir thank you." I smiled then fell asleep.
The twins saw their dad carry their mom. "Hey dad what's wrong with mom?" "She'll be fine. The doctor gave her a shot for her fever wont be up till morning you two stay its to welcome the family." "OK I will check on mom when its over ok?" "Just be quiet when you do." "OK dad." So the ball went on with out them for a little while longer until it was finally over and all her kids and brothers went over to her room.
"Me and Adrian will go in everyone else out here ok?" said Kida. They all agreed. Kida slowly opened the door. "Dad?" "Oh hey kids. Your mom is still sleeping. Her color is finally back she will be just fine." "Oh thank goodness. Everyone else is outside worried." "Ok I will go outside and explain the situation." They followed their dad out. He told them the situation and they were relieved. Then they went home.
The next morning Talia was still asleep. Jay was staying by her side until she woke up. It was around noon when she started waking up. "Hmm. Jay. Jay." "Yes I'm Here Talia. How are you feeling?" I slowly sat up barely awake. Then my senses finally kicked in. "How long have I been asleep?" "You've been asleep since the ball and its noon the next day." "Oh wow. I feel fine now." Then I got up and got dressed and jay helped me a bit. "Ok now let me go see everyone. I'm sure they stayed the night here?" "No surprisingly. But the kids are still here your mom and brothers went back home." "Oh speaking of parents, we need to make a day to go over there. Mom and dad aren't doing so well. They said mom might not make it through this year." "Yeah I know. I got word as well. The kids know too." "OK that's good. I was thinking maybe we should stay over there awhile so we can help out. Like they said mom might not make it through the year." "Lets talk to the King first." "Yeah good idea." I wrote the letter then I gave it to a messenger bird.
I finally went out to join everyone and they were relieved to see me up and walking. "Sorry for worrying everyone. I'm not as young as I once was." "Mom you told me to take it easy now you do the same ok?" "Haha I'll try. Thanks Arion. I think I'm going to take a ride to moms house and let my brothers know I'm ok." "Yeah good thinking." I went on my own.
"Hey mom dad and brothers." "Talia your ok!" "my brothers ran over to hug me." "I'm fine. I was having one of my dizzy spells. The doc gave me some medicine to take." After I visited for awhile I decided to head home.
