Chapter 32: Koda the 4 Tailed Fox

A lot of things were happening to me. Good and bad. At the moment I have mixed Emotions. It was time for bed and I went ahead and got ready. When I did I sat by the window in a daze. I was remembering when I made the contract/Pact with my fox friend who is a beautiful blue. His name is Koda. I still have him. He sleeps in our room in his own little bed. He is a little boy not a man well I guess he is 27 now. When I made the pact he was only about 5 or 6 I guess they age slow. I was 16 then. Anyway so I was remembering the pact I made with him.

(Talia in a daze)

"Oh well hello there little fox. Are you lost?" I said. "Hehe come get me." said the little fox. So he was running and I was playing with him until he got tired. "OK do you want to here my story?" said the little fox. "Sure if you want me too." I said. "OK but first don't be scared I can turn human." So he turned human and said, "That's more comfortable. Now let me tell you my story. I am an orphan. I have a sister I don't know what happened to her. She looks like me but she is a purple color. Then…" After he told me his story I asked him if he wanted to live with me. I noticed him thinking for a little bit. "Ok there is a think you need to know about our kind. I am smart for my age. I had to learn since I am on my own. I have to make a pact with who I live with. Are you willing?" "If it is in my power I will be willing. There is something you should know about me too. I am a princess. I am what the people call the snow princess probably because of my snow white skin." "Oh excuse me. Your highness." He bowed. "Hehe no need now. We are here to make a pact right? So you can have a home." "Thank you princess." "Oh in the future call me Talia." So the pact was I help him find his sister and he will do anything for me.

(Back in reality)

"Talia. Talia Talia. Talia!" "Huh oh sorry. Hello Jay." "Are you ok?" "Yeah where is Koda?" "He said he would be back he had some things to do." "Oh ok. I know its been a long time but what do you think of Koda now? He is almost 30 in 3 years. Do you think we will ever find his sister?" "Well did you ever tell me what she looked like?" "If I did I don't remember. Can I tell you now?" "Sure why not." "She looks like Koda except she is a light purple color with 2 different color eyes. One is blue and the other is pink." "Are you sure that is what she looks like?" "Yeah why do you know something?" "I might. Tomorrow I will make a call to be sure. Now get some sleep. Don't worry Koda won't be home tonight he said he will stay with some animal friends tonight." "Ok goodnight." So we snuggled up and went to sleep.

The next morning Jay was already up and doing business. I saw Koda asleep in his bed. Oh he must have came in when Jay got up. I said in my head. I went over and pet him for a bit then headed down of course I had gotten dressed already. It had been 6 months since we stayed here. My little girl is 1year and 6months more active now. She is running like crazy. I usually have to get Koda to stop her so someone can get her.

"Hey Jay did you make the phone call?" "Oh hey I was looking for you. Yes I did. Its confirmed. The fox you are looking for lives at your fathers palace. She is Emeralds pet. She apparently made a pact with her." "Is she willing to meet her brother?" "I didn't ask. Lets make an apt to go over. Its been half a year." "Yeah lets make a date thanks. I will tell Koda the good news myself. Now lets see where is that fox?" "Oh hello there Max. Have you seen where Koda went?" "Oh yes your highness he is in the village visiting your brothers." "Ok thank you." "Jay if anyone askes that's where I'll be. Take care of Aria for me ok?" "Yes Talia."

I went out and found Koda. "Oh Koda there you are. Can I talk to you privately for a min?" I whispered what it was about. "Oh that doesn't need to be private its exciting news." "OK then. Koda. I have found your sister." "What!" said everyone in unison. "Yes apparently since she couldn't find you the spring princess emerald took her in and cared for her. I made sure the details. I am going to call to make a date to visit are you willing to see her?" "Of course I am. Thank you so much." "Woah hey now. Its ok you're a grown boy now. No need to cry." "Sorry. Everyone. I'm acting like a baby." "Its ok man. If sibling of ours went away for years and never saw them we would feel the same." Said my middle brother. "Do you want to come home with me or hang out here a bit? I am taking Aria out to the park." "I'll go with you. See you guys later. Thanks a lot." So he left with me back to the castle. "I have a question. I have always wondered it if you don't mind me asking Koda." "Sure ask anything." "Well do any of your kind turn completely human or do they always have tails and ears in their human form?" "Does it bug you?" "No its actually adorable I was curious." "Oh well thanks. Actually there may be more of us around. There was just none of our kind that would take us in. some of can and others can't. It just depends on the strength of the fox. My little sister is 21 years old this year. Her birthday is a few days from mine. Before our parents died I remembered we celebrated it on the same day and we enjoyed it. Since her birthday was first we celebrated it then. Actually now that I think about it, its in a couple of weeks isn't it?" "Yeah it sure is. Why don't we make the visitation then? I'll talk to my brother. My nieces and nephews will be happy. Hehe." "Yeah that's for sure. I will be too. this is the best birthday present ever thank you princess. I just want to call you by this title for this situation." "OK sure. You welcome."

We finally got to the palace and I made a phone call. "Hello brother." "Oh sis how is it going? Is everything ok over there?" "Tiring Aria keeps running around and Koda has to stop her. Luckily he is still energetic. Anyway I called to tell you in a couple of weeks on Roxy's birthday I am going to be bringing her brother over." "OH ok sure. I promise I won't tell her. That will be a big surprise. The best one yet. Oh don't tell your kids I want to surprise them." "Ok sure. I will see you then sis." "OK thanks brother." "No problem." Then we hang up and I found everyone waiting by the door for me. "Oh is Aria riding on Koda?" "Ko Ko" "Ko-da." Said Koda. "Ko Ko" "You will figure out soon enough." I put a saddle on Koda for the child. He is one of those big foxes only someone as old as a toddler can ride or her age. I bucked her in and said, "OK Koda be careful with her ok?" "Yes I will." Jay and I enjoyed our walk to the park.

We finally got to the park and I took Aria down and the saddle off so they could play. Aria went running already when I got her off. Then finally Koda ran after her. "Hehe oh kids these days." "You look a little tired lately are you feeling ok?" said Jay. "Hm. Yeah I'm fine. Just having trouble sleeping. I will be fine though. Once I figure out what the dream is I can sleep peacefully again." "What's the dream about?" "I'll tell you when we get back. Then we can find someone who might help. I hope." "Ok sounds good." After awhile when Aria got tired we headed home. She fell asleep in Koda's arms. "Aww how sweet. Uncle Koda." "Haha I guess I can be." So we got home put Aria down to sleep in peace. Then I decided to get a nap since I haven't been sleeping well myself. "I'm going to take a nap. Koda would you mind staying in Aria's room until she wakes up?" "Yeah sure." "Ok thanks."

Jay helped me to our room and he helped me lay down. He sat next to me. "So can you tell me the dream?" "I'll try but if I fall asleep before that I will have to tell you after I wake up ok?" "Yeah sure." "OK then. In the dream its like I am seeing through someone or something's eyes. I feel like I am a little kid. I'm running around with other little kids that have fox tails. Then I thought maybe I'm seeing through Koda's eyes for some reason. After I see a couple who looked just like Koda I wake up right before something bad happens." Then she feel right to sleep. "Ok I will talk to you when you wake up. Good night Talia." He kissed her cheek and left the room. He went to Aria's room to get Koda.

He quietly opened the door. "Hey Koda. Koda!" "Huh? Oh hi Jay what's up?" "I need to talk to you for a bit." "OK sure." He walked out quietly not to wake the baby. After he closed the door quietly they talked. "Is everything ok?" said Koda. "Its Talia. As you have noticed she has been tired lately. She told me it was about a dream." "What's the dream about?" "Well that's the weird thing. She thinks she is seeing through your eyes when someone like your parents are about to die she wakes up." "Oh I see. Its finally come to that huh? I never thought I would be this close to her." "So you know what that means?" "Sigh yeah. I will tell you both when she wakes up. Then you will see why I am sighing." "It's a sigh of relief and confusion." "OK then thanks man. Uh oh looks like Aria is waking up. Do you mind Koda?" "No Jay I got her for now. We will play in the yard out back." "Ok sure." An hour later Talia was waking up. "Hmm. Cough cough. That's weird am I getting sick? Oh Jay hello." "Hey sorry I just got here." "Its fine. Did the baby wake up?" "Yeah Koda's got her." "Oh ok. Is something wrong Jay?" "Huh oh no its just I told Koda your dream. He knows what it means. He said he would tell us when you woke up. So lets go out back and join them." "Actually Jay I don't feel to well. When I got up I started coughing. Do I have a fever?" Jay felt her forhead and said, "No it feels normal. Should I get the doc?" "No lets go out back and talk to Koda maybe he knows what's going on." "Ok sure."

We finally went out and sat down. We were watching the two play until Koda came up to us with Aria. "Hey look its mommy and daddy." "Dada." "Hey sweety." So he handed Aria to Jay. "Ok so should we talk about it now?" said Koda. "Yeah she's little she won't know." "OK then. Talia I heard about the dream that you were seeing through my eyes right? You saw other little kids like me and a couple who looked like me." "Yes its like I was seeing through your eyes why is that. Then after I started coughing and not feeling good." "Oh I see so its that far." "Is Talia going to be ok?" said Jay. "Oh yes she will be fine. Now that its come this far I can't find another master even if I wanted too. I remember hearing about pacts. I was told once the pact is done if it hasn't gone far then we can find another master or go back home. I don't have one to return to anymore so this is good I guess. Then I asked what is going to far? Then the master said if the master saw through their eyes then they wouldn't be able to leave their master. Even if they die they have to stay with that family until they die. As for the sickness you are feeling I hope its not what the master was saying it is." "What did your master say?" Then Koda whispered in my ear. "Are you serious? Will I be able to go back?" "If it happens there is a way I would have to do something for you to go back. As for what don't worry until it happens ok?" "Thank you for telling me Koda." "No problem. Thank you for taking me in and finding my sister." We did a big hug and cried like siblings would. Jay hugged us both while holding Aria. "Mama ok?" "Mommy's fine. Mommy is crying happy tears." "Ko Ko play?" "Lets go inside for a bit maybe later ok?" "OK. Mama." SO I picked the little girl up and we walked inside.

It finally the day before we leave for the castle. Talia noticed that Koda was in a daze. "You ok Koda?" "Huh Yeah sorry I'm fine. Its just I keep thinking If my parents had any last words for me. I can't remember." "Well If I have the dream again and actually see them die then I will tell you but I usually wake up before they do its weird." "Wait a minute. You said you woke up before they die?" "Yes why? Does it mean something?" "I don't know. After we get back I need you to come with me somewhere." "Ok sure. You don't look so good are you sure your ok?" "Yeah I'll tell you tonight." "Ok then are you all packed?" "Yeah I'm all packed. I gotta be somewhere see you later." "Ok sure. See you soon." Then he turned into fox form and left. "Are you ok Talia?" "Huh Oh jay. I'm fine. I'm just worried about Koda." "I'm sure he will be fine. he is an adult after all." "Yeah your right."

The king was calling for us so we went to the kings office. "Hello Talia and Jay." "Your majesty." Bowed. Then we sat on a couch to talk. "I hear from Jay that you are planning to leave to visit your parents at the snow castle is that right?" "Yes sir it's a special occasion." "I see I just wanted to ask how are you are settling in?" "Its been ok I guess. I'm just finally getting used to Elves being around. When I was little the only ones I met were Fawn and her parents. Once in awhile we would go to town to shop." "Yes it is different. This is your people Talia." "Thank you Your Majesty." "Oh you can call me uncle in private if you'd like." "Ok thanks uncle." "When will you be returning?" "WE will be back the following week on Monday is there a problem?" "No no problem. Its just we are having a ball soon. Wondering If you will help us out with it." "Yes of course when we get back we will." "OK thank you. This concludes our meeting." So Jay and I got up to leave.

Finally it was knight time. Koda came in and is about to tell us what's been bugging him. He cleared his throat then he said, "Ok so you probably noticed that something has been bugging me since Talia told me about her dream this afternoon right?" He scratched the back of his head in embarrassment. "Well I'm not getting my hopes up but it might mean my parents could still be alive. Since I won't be able to leave you and get a new master, I will have to go home only if you came with me. Oh yeah and since you are my permanent master let me show you something." He turned around and showed her his tattoo. "Every fox that gets a permanent master gets a tattoo of course they are all different depending on the master though. I have been wondering since I was a teenager if my parents had any last words and now I know why. They might still be alive. I know now not to get my hopes up until I see for myself. So I was thinking. If you aren't going to be busy if you can come with me back home to check it out." "Of course. Will I be the only master there? I don't want to be left out." "Oh no don't worry. You aren't the only one there are many masters with their foxes." "Oh good. I feel better." "Also we can figure out that other situation I whispered to you." "Oh yes that would be helpful thanks." Then he left and we all went to sleep.
