Chapter 10. Marking of the Alpha

"Never underestimate the strength of a singular wolf, there is always a pack not far behind"

{Alpha Cain Pierce's Point of View}

I could feel her eyes on me, they traveled over my body taking in all that I was. It made me feel vulnerable in a way. It was as if she was studying me like I was a textbook. Her eyes soon fell upon my alpha marking that sat on my right shoulder. I could feel her wonder what it was and I reply "marking of the Alpha " Her eyes traveled from my shoulder to my eyes where a blush crept upon her face. I laughed softly as I looked at her. She pulled herself together and took a seat at the island.

I found myself following her every move. Her emerald green eyes met mine and her voice chase every thought in my head as she said "what does that mean? " I chuckled softly and turned my full attention to her. A soft smile played on my lips as I said "the marking of the Alpha is a symbol that a Alpha posses on either his right or left shoulder. The marking demonstrates his position in the pack but also his authority. Others inside the pack and outside the pack know who is the Alpha by the marking"  I looked at her finishing explaining the marking. She looked at me and raised her brow. She didn't say a word for a few moments before she burst out laughing.

I raised my brow as I looked at her. Why was she laughing? What did I say that was so funny? I looked at her and said " What is so funny Aislinn? " She looked at me and said "you expect me to believe that? Why do you wolves always come up with some ridiculous story? " I was taken back by her words and raised my brow "it isn't a story, only an alpha can bare the marking, they are the protectors of their packs and their mates" She laughed even more and it was starting to bother me. I glared at her as she replied with a snarky comment "that's ironic since you made your mate a prisoner." Her words stung and angered me. I slammed my fists onto the table letting my anger get the best of me.

My brows frown as I looked at her "you have no right to speak to me in this manner. I'm your alpha" She got up and leaned over the island. Brows narrowed and teeth gritted as she snapped "you are not my alpha, you never have and you will never be my alpha. I'm just your stupid pocket pussy to use whenever the fuck you decide to. You don't deserve me, you're a good-for-nothing piece of shit. " I growled lowly as I walked around the island and got in her face "you're a spoiled self-centered brat. You make everything so damn difficult because you don't have control. Guess what your life is over. Get the fuck over yourself brat"

Her hand met my cheek snapping my head to the side. Just pissing me off more as I growled lowly and my eyes flash to Kilo's dark green as I grabbed her hand and pinned her to the wall. My voice was low and dangerous as I say "you think your life is a living hell no, just you fucking wait brat" With that, I grabbed her arm roughly and pulled up towards the door. She was thrashing and pulling on her arm yelling to let her go. I smirked and I did, what I failed to realize was that when she fell back there was the edge of the island.

Her head smacked the edge and she fell to the floor.... Unconscious... What have I done?

I rushed to her side and gently lifted her to my arms brushing the hair from her face. Her eyes were closed and that's when I felt the warmth. I pulled my hand away and I saw crimson red blood covered my hand. I have hurt my mate. I have caused my mate to bleed. I picked her up and rushed off to find a pack healer. I was frantic as my mate laid in my arms. What have I done? What have I done? I kept asking myself that question over and over again. How could I let myself lose control and harm my mate? I looked down at her beautiful face and guilt washed over me.

She hated me before, she is gonna hate me even more. I rushed her to the pack clinic where I laid her on the bed yelling for the healer. Who eventually came and looked at me with sad eyes. I looked down as the healer broke the silence "you had harmed your mate, Cain. The goddess isn't happy with you. Aislinn is supposed to guide and save you from destruction. You're not supposed to harm her Cain." I looked down more guilt flooded me as the healer attends to my mate.

I sat down next to her as the healer applies a herbal remedy to the wound I had caused. My eyes scanned her body and there laid bruises from my grip. I whined as the guilt be gone to consume me and Kilo. For the first time in my life, I knew that I had to protect her and love her but I don't know if she would want me in her life after what I had just done. As my guilt consumes me more the voice of kilo spoke "I'm just as much to blame, I'm sorry Cain... " I shook my head as I listened to the sadness in my wolf's voice. I looked over at her and said back to Kilo "it's not your fault Kilo, we both lost control. We haven't had to deal with someone fighting back and we lost it."

Kilo's sad whimpers were all I heard as my eyes fell back upon Aislinn who cried in pain as she moved. I quickly went to her side and took her hand into mine. Her eyes fluttered open and she looked around the room before her eyes settled upon me.

The fear and hurt filled her eyes and her voice broke "p-please just let me g-go. " My heart broke into pieces seeing the pain I caused her.
