Chapter 4

||Jacob's Pov||

"See you in class." She gave a small smile and walked into the school building. I checked out her ass as she walked. Damn!

I know this is not what I'm supposed to be doing in a new school but that's irresistible.

"Hey!" I looked around and saw Jare walking towards me.

"Uhm, Hi." I swallowed.

"You and Blue huh?" She smirked.

"What?" I said, pretending not to understand what she meant. "Let's go to class, we'll be given partners for the project today."

"Okay," She shrugged. "Who would you want to be paired with?"

I gave a deep smile, "I'd want anyone."

"Uhm, Anyone especially?"

I looked at Jare and she grinned widely. "Oh please shut up!" I pulled her and went into the class.

My classmates sat in groups of friends, the nerds, the back benchers, the pranksters, the popular kids, others and most importantly Blue who had stolen my heart in a day. Cliché I know.

Jare tapped my arm "You lost? She's not going anywhere."

"Jare, will you shut up and stop making up shits?" I said, frowning at her.

"You know I'm not making it up," she giggled and went to sit.

I went to my seat, after giving a smile to Blue who in turn returned it with her small smile.

As I sat behind her, I wanted to start a conversation but didn't know how. Not long Micheal came to sit.

"Jacob, what's up?" he said.

"I'm fine, how are you?"

"I'm fine too." He took out his phone. "Do you know how to play basketball?"

"No, why do you ask?" I asked.

"One of my teammates left and we need a replacement, that's why."

"Okay."

"What sport do you play or what are you interested in?" Michael asked.

"I play football but I prefer Music over anything."

"Music? Can you sing?" Michael said, his eyes widened.

"Yes, I do. Do you?"

"No, I don't. My twin brother actually does, that was before he died last year."

"Oh, I'm really sorry for that." I said, feeling bad for him. Talking about his brother's death reminded me of Maria.

"My brother was the craziest brother ever," Michael smiled sadly. "Why don't you join the music club?" He eyes sparkled.

"Really, how would I join?"

"I'll take you there during lunch," he said. "Mikael was once the club's president."

"Sorry," I paused. "Who is Mikael?"

"My brother."

"Okay. I-" I was cut off by the teacher's entering.

"Good morning teacher," the class said.

I looked at the teacher it was not the same one from yesterday. After we sat, I took out my timetable to check what we had. Mathematics. I'm dead.

"Open your textbooks to Chapter 16, page 233, exercise 3d." the teacher said.

"Ma," the boy sitting beside Jare stood up.

"Yes?"

"I forgot my textbook in my locker." He said.

"Okay, Go get it now. Quickly."

The boy ran out of the class and the teacher used the time to explain what we had to do again.

The boy came back.

"OK, So, do the exercise 1-12 now." She looked at the class prefect. "Submit it to Bisi when you're done. Bisi, bring the books to me before your next class."

The teacher went out of the class, Some of the students cheered, some banged the table and some faced their books and some looked around, like me.

Michael got up from beside me and went to one of his friends seat. Blue faced her work, I know she's the last person I'd ask to explain to me all over again.

I looked at Jare, whose eyes met mine immediately. She smiled and came to seat beside me. "Whatcha need help with?"

"Maths." I stated.

Jare tried to explain to me at the same time doing her own work. I tried to get it but I got more confused.

I took a deep breath "Can't you just let me copy from your book? You know I can't understand this." I pointed to the book.

Jare shook her head "You know I can't allow you to copy."

She explained a lot better again and soon I got it. "I get it now."

"Tell me."

"Multiply this with this, then take the fraction of this one multiply with the first answer. When you get your answer, do the addition of fractions," I paused. "Right?"

Jare smiled "You know you're so smart. Just lazy."

I grinned widely. "I can do it now."

She  went back to her seat and soon everyone went back to their seats. I tried to do the maths, thinking I did something. I was happy with myself.

Bisi collected the books from everyone and went to submit to the teacher.

"Hey," I finally gathered enough courage to say something to Blue.

"Hi," She said.

"So, how was it?" I asked.

"Was what?"

"The maths classwork."

"It was good, what about you?" She said.

"I did the 12 questions," I said, feeling so proud of myself for being able to answer a maths question.

"Me too."

"The books are here," someone said. Bisi shared the book, giving a particular smile to some people.

"Here, Blue." She smiled at Blue.

She got to me and giggled. "Jacob here is your book. The teacher wants to see you after school today."

My eyes narrowed as I heard her "Why? Did I do something wrong?"

"No, I think it's concerning your maths." She left.

I opened my book slowly, praying in my mind that I get more than average. But my prayer wasn't answered again. I opened my book to see a 3/12.

"The fuck?" I groaned.

"What happened?" Blue asked.

"Nothing," I rubbed the back of my head. I don't want her to know how dumb I am yet.

"Okay." She said and faced front.

*

"Finally," I sighed. The teacher I had been waiting for finally came into the class.

"Good afternoon teacher." the class said.

"Good afternoon," the teacher replied.

Bisi brought a box and put it in front of the teacher.

"Thank you," She said. "So now, you should go to the way you stood in the last class."

The class waited.

"Those that stood beside the window in the last class should go to the window and those that stayed here should come." The teacher stated.

I stood up and went to stand at my old position. I wish I had stood beside the window, maybe I would have a chance to pair with Blue.

"Those here should come pick a paper. The name you choose is your project partner."

We went to choose, I waited patiently for my turn. Hoping to choose Blue, I took out my paper. Olamide George.

"Who is Olamide George?" I blurted out.

"I," A tall boy with dark eyes said.

"I'm your project partner," I said, a bit dejected that I wasn't given Blue.

I looked at her and saw her shaking her head. Like what?

I wondered who is her project partner.

"Blue Davies," I heard a boy. I looked and saw that it was one of the nerdy boy in the class. The one with thick eye glasses.

And the most awfully disturbing part is that, He's grinning widely at her!

Weird.
