<p>Ember opened her eyes with a start, remembering instantly that she was currently being held captive by Avram. Sitting up from the bare mattress, she saw the pink light of a sunset coming through the window, telling her she slept throughout the day. </p>
<p>Her arms ached from being held behind her back all night and a couple of her fingers had gone completely numb. Not to mention her head was still pounding from the night before. With a soft curse, she scanned the room once again for something she could use to escape that she might have missed the first time. </p>
<p>But there was quite literally, nothing in the room that she could use to save herself. </p>
<p>Suddenly, unbidden, she thought of Adrian who had always come to her rescue and her heart lurched in her chest. With a growl of annoyance, she shoved the thoughts away. Too many times had she relied on Adrian to save her. No. She’d gotten herself into this mess and she would get herself out. </p>
