PROLOGUE

After a busy day at the office, he decides to take a walk during one of California's well know treats - It's beautifully warm and refreshing nights.

He takes a right turn into the familiar street if his neighbourhood and while walking he hears a faint sound, sounds like someone is crying, he thought. The crying gets louder and louder as he follows the direction of the sound, which became more clear, to be a baby crying.

He approaches the sound faster, which unexpectedly leads him to his front door. With the crying sound now loud and clear, he stops in his tracks as he notices a cartoon box in front of his doorstep. He slowly walks up to his door and peaks inside the cartoon box, his eyes settling on a small frame of a baby wrapped in a thick, blue, furry blanket.

He looks down, a confuse, shock yet soft look on his face. He leans over the cartoon, taking in the image of the child's puffy cheeks, pale lips from the cold and the dark brown eyes of the baby as the baby's cries die down.

"Who in Gods name would leave a baby on the street at night?" He asks himself out loud. He slightly opens the cloth so the baby hardly feels the cold breeze and checks the gender, while doing so he notices a mark on the baby's right-hand palm, he looked at it more closely realizing it was a birthmark that somewhat looked like a crescent moon, he ignores it and tightly wraps the blanket around the child. It's a boy, he thought, the baby starts waving his hands in the air, smiling and giggling with a glint of happiness in his eyes.

The man laughs at the baby's joyful character, his lips tilted up in a wide smile. Caught in the beauty of the child, he sees the child's eyes flash gold, he closes and opens his eyes to see the dark brown eyes looking into his, he shakes his head concluding it was just an illusion. Looking at the child, it takes him back to the rough times' of his life when his late wife died alongside their child during birth. Shaking his head. he places the memory at the back of his head.

Seen as he's never had a child before and neither knows how to take care of one, he contemplates on whether to take him to the orphanage or keep him as his own. Concluding on his decision, he looks around his neighbourhood checking to see if anyone was around, then gently picks up the baby and in the process, a paper falls out the baby's blanket. He bends and picks the paper off the floor, opens it and sees a message that he simply reads-

We love you :)

We? the man thought, He shrugs and sluts the paper in the right pocket of his blazer, taking out his key and opening the door. He kicks the box inside his house while walking in with the child carefully held in his left arm cradling his neck.

He turns around, takes one last glance around his area before shutting the door close behind him.
