Chapter 21: All or Nothing

Katie’s POV

“That was phenomenal,” I remarked, leaning back in the wooden dining room chair.

Our dinner was sweet and quiet. Both of us slipped into the simplicity of heated glances over salmon, which turned out to just be baked salmon that was cooked to perfection. Arrow, true to his word, did indeed know his way around a kitchen.

The knot that I had tied myself up in slowly started to loosen itself as the easiness of the evening washed over me. The small fragments of jitters that I had accumulated in anxiety for time spent with Arrow void of distractions faded into feelings of eager antcipation. It wasn’t hard to imagine life with him. Sitting here after a long day of work, eating food he cooked, just being together.

“Let’s take our wine to the living room,” Arrow suggested.

I didn’t want to break the moment with words, so I nodded my response, picking up my stemless wineglass. I also picked up my plate to take it to the sink.
