Chapter 71: Time is running out
The battle intensified as Death Knight unleashed a surge of death aura so overwhelming that it sent waves of fear rippling across the battlefield. Knights faltered, some nearly dropping their weapons, as a suffocating dread took hold of their hearts. Even the Captains, seasoned and battle-hardened, felt the weight of his power.
Death Knight grinned maliciously, his eyes locked onto Synoh, who stood unwavering in the storm of energy.
Death Knight: (mocking) "You're interesting, human. That dark mana spilling out of you… could it be his gift? Or perhaps you're finally breaking under the pressure?"
Synoh's breathing slowed as he focused inward. The dark mana pouring from his body was unfamiliar, yet oddly natural. It felt like a deep well of energy that had been dormant until now. He shut his eyes, tuning out the chaos around him, and embraced the sensation, letting it guide his movements.
Meanwhile, the other Captains, witnessing the escalating duel, abandoned their current positions to aid Synoh.
Captain Elara: (urgently) "We can't let him face that monster alone. Everyone, move now!"
Only Captain Roy, stationed on the defensive wall, remained in place, continuing to hold back the waves of demon reinforcements. The rest of the Captains—Elara, Aria, Donn, Elizabeth, and Aloy—rushed toward the scene.
Back in the fray, Death Knight raised his massive blade, channeling even more of his aura into a devastating slash aimed at Synoh.
Death Knight: (laughing maniacally) "Let's see if you can withstand this!"
As the attack descended, Synoh's eyes snapped open, glowing faintly with the intensity of the mana coursing through him. With a swift movement, he raised his sword and met Death Knight's strike head-on. The clash erupted into a massive explosion, sending shockwaves across the battlefield and momentarily halting the fighting around them.
When the dust settled, Synoh and Death Knight stood locked in fierce combat, their weapons clashing repeatedly. Each strike sent sparks flying, the sheer force of their battle creating craters in the ground beneath them.
Death Knight: (grinning) "Good, good! This is what I wanted—a fight worth remembering! But how long can you hold out, human?"
Despite the taunts, Synoh remained calm. His movements were precise and deliberate, adapting to the new power he had tapped into. However, it was clear that Death Knight was still holding an advantage, his strikes growing heavier and more relentless.
Far off, the Captains pushed through the chaos, desperate to reach Synoh in time.
Captain Elara: (muttering) "Just hold on a little longer, Synoh… we're almost there."
The tension in the air was palpable, every clash between Synoh and Death Knight a reminder of the thin line between survival and destruction. The battlefield seemed to hang in suspended animation, all eyes on the duel that could decide the fate of the war.
