Chapter 20 : Performance time.

Third person point of view

The day of the selection has finally come. Mingyu didn't get to see Wonwoo a lot in the past week. He only found Wonwoo during the evening when he went for practice. The band members were all popular among all years. So they had people flocking around them. Mingyu didn't want to be too distracted.

He decided to give a perfect performance and then he can just pull Wonwoo to his side. Dokyeom and Mingyu were sitting beside each other. Dokyeom asked to borrow Mingyu's guitar for the performance. Mingyu let him use it. Dokyeom was the 7th to perform, while Mingyu was the 25th. So he had to wait till his performance.

It was an open event unlike before. All those willing could come watch them perform so Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook came to cheer for them. Mingyu went to them and spoke a little. He was done and was walking back to his seat. He saw Wonwoo who was sitting along with Jihoon. " Hyung ". Wonwoo turned to Mingyu. " What ? "

" Can you not at least tell me an all the best ? " Mingyu asked acting cute. Wonwoo stared at him. " Why should I ? " " Because it will cheer me up and this time I will not miss that one note too ". Mingyu said smiling. Wonwoo shook his head. " Ah hyung~~ please ". Wonwoo sighed. " Fine. All the best ". Mingyu grinned.

" Thank you so much hyung. Just watch, I will get selected ". He grinned wider and walked away. Wonwoo stared at Mingyu's back and then to the front. Jihoon smiled looking at Mingyu and Wonwoo. Wonwoo noticed and raised an eyebrow. " What ? " " Nothing ". Jihoon said stopping himself from smiling.

Mingyu sat down and the performances started. Soon it was Dokyeom's turn. " All the best. You are going to do well ". Mingyu said patting Dokyeom on his back. Dokyeom nodded and walked up when his name was called. He put the guitar aside and stood in front of the microphone. He took a deep breath.

" Hello. I am Lee Dokyeom from Humanities. I will be singing the song 'Movie' by Junny ". The crowd cheered. Dokyeom sang it very well. He finished it and everyone clapped. Hoseok, Jimin and Jungkook were cheering the loudest. Dokyeom smiled and picked up his guitar. " I want to sing one with the guitar too if it is fine ".

Dokyeom said before the judges can ask him to do something. " Sure go ahead ". He performed ' A thousand years ' along with a few vocals here and there. He bowed and the response was just as great. He came back sitting down. " How was it ? " He asked Mingyu. " You were really good ". Mingyu said handing him a water bottle.

Dokyeom drank it and took a deep breath. " It is so nerve wracking ". Mingyu smiled. " Don't worry. You did well and no mistakes were there. So it should be enough ". Dokyeom nodded. Mingyu had to wait for his turn. In between, some performances were good and some made mistakes out of nervousness.

And it was finally Mingyu's turn. He walked up and put the guitar aside. He plugged in the electric guitar he used for practice. " Hello everyone. My name is Kim Mingyu and I am from Humanities. Hope you guys enjoy my performance ". He smiled. Some of them cheered. Well a handsome face is valued for sure.

He played ' There's nothing holding me back ' by Shawn Mendes. He finished it and the crowd cheered loud. Mingyu grinned. The judges were the same from before but an extra was added. Before it was Namjoon, Yoongi, Dowoon and Jae. Now there was also Seok Jin added to the line up. Now he knew all of them by faces after joining the club along with their names.

" You have anything else you want to perform ? " Jin asked. The judges were asking if they have something else prepared and if they do, they can do it. If not, they would just make them do something they want to hear. " Yes ". Mingyu answered. " Then please go ahead ". Jin said and Mingyu put the electric guitar aside and picked up his guitar.

He stood before the microphone. " This is something I prepared for someone special to me. I hope they will like it ". He met eyes with Wonwoo at once and looked down at the guitar. The whole crowd hooted. Jungkook sitting in there also looked at Wonwoo. Wonwoo's eyes went wide because he met Mingyu's eyes.

He looked behind and there was no one else. They were the only ones sitting in the last row. He blinked in confusion. Jihoon beside him chuckled. When Wonwoo turned to him he covered it with a cough and cleared his throat. Wonwoo turned back to look at Mingyu. Mingyu smiled and started singing.

He struck the strings and sang ' True Love ' by P!nk. Wonwoo just looked at Mingyu without looking away throughout the performance. Mingyu rested his palm on the strings and looked up. " That is it. Thank you so much ". Mingyu met eyes with Wonwoo again and bowed. The crowd cheered the loudest.
