Receiving my powers

Mom set out a big, poofy, pink and ugly dress on the bed for me. I still can't believe this ball is happening. What if I receive my powers during the ball? How would we cover it up?

Knock! Knock!

"come in!" I yelled

It was Damien with his velvet red suit on and his long brown hair slick back.

"Your not dressed yet"

I pointed to the dress.

"Oh I can take care of that" he exclaimed

He walked over the dress then picked it up and with a few words that dress turned from ugly to elegant.

"Thanks, so what exactly happens when I receive my powers?" I asked

"Well it's kind of a painful process, see your body is getting ready to accept powers and naturally your body will reject it but once your powers overcome your body it's not so bad" Damien explained

"I can't believe this is happening"

"I'm sure it's not going to happen during the ball" Damien said

"No, I'm receiving my powers" I said

"OK what exactly do you feel?"

In a sweet innocent voice I said "oh I'm feeling relaxed and calm"

Damien just looked at me with a blank look in his face.

"PAIN! I'm obviously feeling pain!"

"You need to lay down Rogan it'll make things easier I have to get something from my bedroom" Damien said

"And what exactly is that?" I asked

"A cover up. People are starting to show up"

Damien came back with a white candle, black sand and an athame. He lit the candle with his finger then sprinkled black sand in fire to create a crackle sound.

"white clouds turn gray upon this day bring the roaring thunder and a zap of lightning to save the day" he chanted

He cut his hand and offered a few drops of his blood. I could hear my mother complain about the thunder downstairs.

A beaming light entered into me leaving me to glow. Then it absorbed into me.

"Are you okay Rogan?" Damien asked

"I'm more than okay I finally got my powers"

I jumped in excitement.

"what's the first thing you gonna do?"

"Get ready for the ball" I answered

I snapped my fingers and I was ready to go.
