Mana fluctuations

Sam opened the door to find a very serious-faced Evera standing with her arms crossed.

"We have a guest and he wants to talk to you".Evera announced before walking back to the Main hall.

'is she mad? ', Sam wondered.

Sam followed her and when he entered the main hall he found his sisters, his grandfather, his Clan elders, and a man with brown hair who looks to be in his late twenties sitting on the couch sipping tea served by his older sister Cara.

As soon as they noticed Sam coming in their direction, everyone greeted him while bowing a little.

Sam looked at his everyone present with a serious expression because everyone else had a serious expression as well.

Sam looked at the brown-haired man and noticed the badge he carried.

'A magic knight?'.

'What's he doing here? '. Sam was quite surprised but didn't show it on his face.

His grandfather, Anos Verninne looked at his sole grandson with a serious face, "Boy, this young man here is the Captain of the Dark Bull Royal magic knight squad, Yami suhiro, he wishes to speak with you".

Sam bowed a little to show his respects, royal magic knight are well respected around the mage world, they're powerful and they directly answer to his highness, the Wizard king.

He must show respect.

'Yami suhiro? Why does it sound familiar? '.Sam thought but didn't dare to speak out.

'What does he want with me? '.Sam was quite confused.

Anos gestured for his grandson to take a seat before telling Yami to speak out his reasons for his visit.

"Young master, Verninne I'm sure you are already aware of our Magic knight Squad, we the Dark Bull squad are the ones responsible for maintenance and Order around the Dark forests surrounding the western region of our main continent".

Even though this particular dark forest does not inhabit any higher-tier magical beast, it still requires strict surveillance because no one can predict what type of beast exists in the inner dark forests.

Yami, the captain of the dark bull squad made sure everyone present are listening before continuing, " last night, our Mana meter and sensory type mages picked up a high-frequency mana distortion in the heart of the dark forest that... you and your friends from the Hero tribe and Nandras Clan used to visit and train".

"We immediately dispatched a team of high-ranked knights to examine the dark forests, but all we found was a low-ranking Magic beast".

'Good thing I cleared the area clean where I was killed'. Sam smiled inwardly.

"Are you implying that I have something to do with this? Since I was the last person to be seen roaming in the dark forest".

Just from this information, Sam could already guess what this Magic knight captain wanted from him.

"you want to know if I saw or did anything to cause such a phenomenon in the dark forest to occur, is that right?". Sam said as he took a sip from the cup.

His posture, his demeanor, his attitude everything about him made Yami feel uneasy.

It's not a nice feeling to have not from a kid at least.

"I don't accuse you or anything, I just want to know if you noticed or saw anything unusual while the young master was training".

"I won't be able to keep my head intact if I were to blame you in front of your grandfather, Lord Verninne".

'Why is this brat so intimidating? He is just like his father, Lord Zyan'.

"hmm". Sam remained silent much to Yami's displeasure.

'At least say something, don't be silent, damn it'.

Seconds passed and Sam remained silent, much to his surprise others also stayed silent.

Yami looked at Sam's grandfather who also had an imposing look, Evera and Cara too had a blank expressions when the thought that Yami was blaming Sam crossed their mind.

Yami was a seventh Circle mage, he was no match for his grandfather who was on par with the Wizard King.

He may be able to escape with his life and not with his limbs intact if he were to fight his sisters though.

'why do I have to deal with this family? '.

'your highness, please assign me to a different region, I'm not capable of handling this kind of pressure or craziness', Yami cried in his mind but didn't show it on his face, as cry baby as this situation made him be, he still needs to keep his dignity as a Magic Knight captain.

'This family is full of crazy people'.

Everyone in the city knows just how much of crazy-minded Clan Verninne is.

This is one of the reasons, why the wizard king always keeps his distance from this particular clan.

There have been a lot of cases where the craziness of Clan Verninne was proven.

One incident was when the old patriarch, father of Anos Verninne wiped out an entire forest just because a small beast destroyed his peach plant, not even a tree.

Another incident worthy of mentioning was when Sam was a baby, his grandfather Anos Verninne hunted down a lot of 7th and 8th Circle beasts to make toys out of their bones for Sam to play with.

There was also a time when Sam's Mother, grandmother, and Grandfather played matchmaker for Sam and asked for almost every clan's princess's hand in marriage.

Since then Sam lost confidence in himself when it comes to relationships.

There was also another incident similar involving other clan members too.

Considering everything we can say that Sam's family is quite crazy.

They are impulsive, strong, and short-tempered.

SIGH!

"Sir Yami, I deeply apologize for my attitude, however, I don't know anything about this matter, last night after my training I took a stroll through the city since I felt like walking around".

Sam lied as easily as breathing, truth be told he was the sole reason for that Mana's fluctuations.

When he awakened his System, his body let out that massive amount of Mana causing an irregular Mana distortion.

Of course, this would have alerted the higher officials.

This type of thing is not a regular occurrence, this type of fluctuation may even be a sign of a Mana Storm, but when they investigated they didn't find any signs of an upcoming Mana storm, and this greatly confused them.

After all, it's a common fear for both humans and the supernatural, the fear of the unknown.

After talking over random things, captain Yami bid farewell and left for the Royal Capital.
