Desperate to fulfill his father's last wish, Nick pleaded with Amelia to come back with him. Amelia was hesitant, but Nick made an offer she couldn't easily refuse: his company would fully fund her research. Reluctantly, Amelia agreed, on the condition that her family wouldn’t know she was back with Nick, fearing their reaction. Steamy Night

"Amy, I thought you said you didn't want to drink?" he said, walking over and taking the glass from her hand, setting it aside along with the bottle. "It's late. Why aren't you in bed? Getting drunk now? What kind of example is that for the kids?" Nick added, his tone laced with a bit of sarcasm.

Amelia flinched, and her face showed more hurt than Nick had anticipated. "You're really just trying to take everything from me, aren't you?"

"What?" Nick blinked in confusion. "Amy, you're drunk. Are you hallucinating?"

"I should've never helped you," she muttered, her voice thick with a mix of anger and sadness. "I thought… I thought you'd never win them over. But the moment I let my guard down—look at them, they're abandoning me for you!" Her voice cracked as she began to cry. She was drunk, but the pain in her words was clear, and suddenly, Nick understood what she was getting at.

"Why is God doing this to me?" Amelia sobbed. "I carried them, I raised them, but you show up out of nowhere, and they embrace you like you're some kind of hero."

Nick let out a long sigh. "Amy, you're overreacting. The kids just needed… something new. Something they haven't had before." He hesitated, trying to find the right words. "They needed a father figure. Something they've been missing all this time."

Amelia whimpered, grabbing Nick's arm as fresh tears streamed down her face. "Please… don't take my kids from me. I'm begging you."

"Amy, I'm not gonna do that," Nick said softly, pulling her gently into his arms. "I would never take them from you. They're your kids."

"I swear, I'll be a better mother to them. They don't need a dad," Amelia continued, her voice shaky. "Just… please don't take them."

"Amy, you're already a great mom. You've done everything on your own for the last six years," Nick said, swallowing hard as he cupped her face, wiping away her tears. "I mean, I wasn't there. I missed it all."

Nick stood Amelia upright, holding her gently as she wobbled slightly from the alcohol. "You went through the hardest part alone. I wish I could've been there with you," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "Even if I'd be jealous 'cause the kids weren't mine, I hate thinking about you going through that on your own."

Amelia's eyes flickered, still glossy from the tears. Nick's words hit her deeply, and despite her drunken state, she could feel the sincerity behind them. He really did care, maybe more than she wanted to admit.

Nick brushed a strand of hair from her face, his hand lingering there for a moment before he added softly, "You're drunk, baby. You need to sleep. Your worries aren't going to happen, I promise." With that, he scooped her up effortlessly, carrying her toward their bedroom.

Amelia clung to him, her face buried in his chest as he walked. When he gently laid her on the bed, she caught his arm just as he was about to leave.

"Where are you going?" she asked, her voice small and vulnerable.

"To my own room," Nick replied, standing awkwardly by the side of the bed.

"Stay with me," Amelia whispered, her voice almost pleading. "Hold me until I fall asleep."

Nick hesitated, but seeing the fragility in her eyes, he couldn't bring himself to say no. He sighed, giving in, and climbed into bed next to her. She nestled against him, resting her head on his chest, her soft breaths warming his skin.

A minute passed, but it felt like an eternity to Nick. His heart raced as he gently stroked her hair, trying to keep his thoughts in check. The intimacy of the moment was overwhelming. His body tensed with every second that passed, the proximity too much to handle.

"Amy, I think I should—" Nick began, but Amelia cut him off.

"Shhh," she whispered, tightening her grip on him. Her voice was raspy, almost seductive as she leaned in closer. "Why don't you read me a story?"

"A story?" Nick raised an eyebrow, caught off guard by the childish request.

"Yeah," Amelia mumbled, her lips curling into a weak smile. "An adult story. Sexy one."

Nick's heart skipped a beat, the tension in the room suddenly thickening. "An erotica?" he asked, his voice hoarse.

"Yeah," Amelia repeated, her hand slipping down to his chest, undoing the top button of his shirt. "Something dirty… the dirtiest."

Her fingers grazed his skin, sending shivers down his spine. She smiled lazily as her hand roamed across his chest, teasing him. "You have no idea how much I've missed you, Nick."

Nick's mind was racing, trying to make sense of the situation. This was not the Amelia he knew when she was sober. So which version of her was real?

Before he could think too much, Amelia's leg slid up, brushing against him in a way that made his body react instantly. Her smile grew when she realized just how affected he was. He was so hard already. "You think it's just the kids who need you? I need you too, you idiot," she whispered seductively.

Nick swallowed hard, his body buzzing with tension. He knew there was no way he could resist what was happening.

"Then do it," Nick murmured, finally giving in. He wanted her just as much. "Do whatever you want with me."

Amelia started taking off her clothes one by one, then let out a little laugh. "This is ridiculous. In my dreams, you always act like you can't get enough of me. But I know you still can't forget about Olivia, no matter what."

"Olivia?" Nick rasped, his voice low. "You're really gonna bring her up right now and ruin the mood?"

"Yeah, yeah, whatever," Amelia muttered, her eyes locking onto his toned abs. She stared at him with love in her eyes and planted a soft kiss there, making his member turned harder.

"Amelia, you really are something else."
