after the events involving the factory. dutchess tried getting things back on track. the main issue is the leader of the gang. with him still at large their no telling when they'll try again. so naturally her her eyes are peeled. the week continued as planned Breck discreetly hunted other gangs, and Dutchess spent time interviewing merchants the ones she approved shed give a crest. that emblem was to be placed outside their business. Anyone operating needed one to be left alone. by the end of the week, many old and new companies were running. things were starting to look like a legitimate city, so Buttler finally made his move.
Buttler: my lady it's time and please don't put this off again.
Dutchess: again
since her mission had started originally, Dutchess was using a room at the run-down hotel. she had been staying there from the moment she came to town. but Buttler started to notice a real change in the whole city. he grew concerned about the territory leader having a poor living space. thus making him insist she should use some of the collection to build a palace. obviously, she declined to raise this place off the ground and keep its people out of trouble. her using those funds would only bring problems. they had argued over this problem for days. eventually, they did reach a middle ground. at that point, in time both the treasury and the Department of Finances had been formed. but they did not have a place to work so they purchased an open building with room to store valuables. of course, dutchess was given an office space to work and live in for the time being.
now currently dutchess, Buttler, and, Breck are in their office space. the space was the biggest room in the building. yet came off as small to everybody. fact is with all the boxes of case files on the floor, the moderate desk with more files on it, and the folding cot in the corner. the room's space was more than occupied. dutchess was sitting at her desk near the window. Buttler was talking to her in front of the desk while sorting her finished work. Breck had made himself at home, with a wooden chair next to the entry door. he was asleep in the chair to his side was a table with more papers on it.
Buttler: the city is moving forward now. you said you'd only put this off while theirs much to do, but next week you plan to officially change the city name. what better way to celebrate the new beginning than a palace born with a similar name?
she rolls her eyes at him and then throws her paperweight at Breck. waking up he jumps out of his chair she points to the paper next to him. Buttler expresses frustration for her lack of care. bringing over the paper Brecks face is tired.
Dutchess: funny I recall instructing you to guard me not take a nap.
she studies a few documents off the top. the piles of paper on her desk seemed immortal in a way.
Breck: I can do both.
she strolls back to his chair.
Buttler: can you please focus this is really important. this is important for the future.
dutchess continued to look at some documents she had just picked up. her face lit up at something she saw. she started snapping her finger.
Dutchess: Buttler among my thing theirs a lavender backpack. inside should be 12 rolled-up parchments with red or blue wax seals bearing the moon. bring me one of the red ones it's really old.
he walks over to the bed in a fit. leaning over he claims the backpack she mentioned. it was rather old and stuffed with documents. he flips over the bag so all the documents that fell on the bed. all the parchments had either a red or blue seal on it. they were pretty old but a red one that was like Wrag stood out. he grab it and brought it to her.
Buttler: what are those all about?
she takes the rolled paper and flicks off the seal, then unrolls it. looking over the two documents she smiles.
Dutchess: I guess you could call it the family business. Breck, I'm heading out, so go train your men. there will be an assembly Sunday. let's try not to dirty my dress with someone's blood.
Breck looks like he's ready to refute her. then thinks about it and would rather not clean up the mess. so he gets up to take his leave. Buttler cleaned up the piles of documents on her bed. looks at her agitated she keeps dodging him. She grabs her coat and dusts off her trousers. making sure she had both documents in hand she hustles to the door.
Dutchess: what are you doing? get ready we got places to be.
not sure what to make of this he ready himself to depart, abandoning the mess still on the bed. dutchess being in a hurry open the door to quickly move to the hallway. despite the place being very old. the department of Finances made sure to hire people to get it cleaned. so the hallways are very slightly cleaner than most old buildings. for her stay dutchess was given the 4t floor. but theirs were only 3 rooms so dutches stayed in one Buttler in the other. leaving an extra room empty. Buttler is finally in his street clothes and meets her in the hall. while he locks the door dutchess advances to the stairs, but is cut off by a tall familiar blond man.
blond: good I caught up with you before you had left.
the man in glasses had a worn-out expression. he was dressed in plain business clothes but disheveled. he had clearly been worked tired and was out of breath from running up the stairs. Dutchess was staring at him.
Dutchess: your name was Durand right?
Durand: no its ronald. but Mama I need to speak about your deposit. I received the deposit request form and also the appraisal was finnished. however, when i went to check on the item it was gone. I checked all the requests nobody withdrew it.
Dutchess took a slight intrest in his word. Meanwhile, Breck having exited the building almost 4 blocks away. for the most part he is gripping. due to his pay being cut due to his mistake the other day. while he sighing over his pain strolling. he tries his best to dodge people passing by. it was rather hard with how tall he is and, so many people were out keeping busy. while he kept moving he suddenly felt the urge to stop. his mind was telling him to look behind. but not as a subjection more like an obsessive reminder. like it was something he had to do, the feeling was so bad he did it involuntarily. while his mind was going numb his eye met a middle aged lady.
lady: why hello their i have the strangest feeling. you know exactly who I'm looking for.
to be continued..
