Chapter 44: Time For Action
Blake appears to understand her struggle and answers the phone for her. He puts it on speaker so she doesn’t miss out on what Roy has to say.
“We’re here,” Blake says after answering.
“Your ex is a real piece of work,” Roy starts as Jim laughs somewhere in the background of the call. “He came in here putting on quite the act and it took everything to keep Jim from clobbering him.”
Autumn can hear the bartender talking to someone else while Roy fills them in.
“Long story short, Jim sent him down the street to the hardware store and he’s on the phone with Sheriff Baker as we speak. I think the authority of the town plans on waiting by Dustin’s illegally parked car till he gets back. You all should have plenty of time now,” Roy explains.
“Do you want us to swing back through town before going back to the sanctuary?” Autumn asks, wondering how Roy will get back without a ride.
