Chapter 24: Conflict Resolution
“We’re over here,” Connie says, saving Autumn from having to confront him on her own.
Blake turns toward her voice with a look of disapproval on his face. “What do you two think you’re doing?” he scolds, walking over to them. “I was frantic when I couldn’t find you. I had to hear from Roy where you were.”
Autumn is tired and she knows she stinks. Every part of her just wants to relax after the night she just had. She understands why Blake is upset, but she doesn’t feel like she can mentally handle it right now.
“Things became urgent here, as you can see, and we needed to come right away,” she replies flatly. “What are you doing here? There are a lot of sick in this building, and you are at high risk of catching the virus.”
Blake looks at the beds lining the hallway and then back at the two women. “I was worried about you. I don’t think you grasp how dangerous it is for you here,” he huffs.
