My coffee went down my air passage and I choked. Justin had to thump me on the back until I could finally catch my breath. I put my coffee on the table between us and looked at him in disbelief.
“No way! I don’t believe you! You’re just saying that to try to make me feel better, let me down easy.”
“See, I knewyou’d say that.” Sighing, he leaned back in his chair. “Let me try this. Do you remember your first day on the job?”
I thought back to that day. June had given me a tour of the office, introducing me to everyone. When she had reached my new work space, I had noticed this total hottie sitting to my left. It was Justin, and he had worn a cast on his right leg. When he tried to get up to introduce himself, he’d lost his balance and the chair rolled away from him, so that he landed on his ass, feet in the air. June and I had rushed forward, making sure he hadn’t hurt himself too badly. He was embarrassed, but grateful for our help. I thought he was adorable.
