With the sound of bones being smashed, Mikel landed hard on the ground. His spinal cord, ribs, arms, and legs were broken.
[Bone vitality -78]
'Fuck. I can't move. And why am I not dead?'
Mikel was sure he would've died if he fell from that height, but it looked like he was wrong.
[Your head wasn't damaged.]
'Oh yeah. Thank goodness, but I can't move.'
[Give it a few seconds to kick in.]
'For what to kick in?'
Mikel suddenly began to hear strange sounds, and when he looked, to his surprise, his bones were melding back together.
[Energy: 50/50 => 49/50 => 48/50 => 47/50...]
As his bones repaired themselves, his energy stat continued on a steady decline. By the time he had fully recovered, the concerned stats looked like this;
[Energy: 23/50
Bone vitality: 22/100]
'Will the bone vitality stat remain like this?'
[Worry about more important things]
'Eh?'
"AHHHH!"
Mikel heard a scream and saw an axe coming down on his head as he lay on the ground. He seemed to have forgotten he was on a battlefield.
Everything seemed to slow down in Mikel's eyes as he came unbelievably close to dying again and going back to the darkness. Unwilling to experience it again, Mikel's fighting instinct kicked in.
He firmly dug his left hand into the ground and applied enough force to push himself away from the axe's trajectory.
The large war axe's blade hit the ground with a loud thud and effortlessly sliced it! The burly soldier who wielded the weapon was yet to raise the axe again when he spotted a bony fist covered in light blue flames about to hit him!
Mikel had wasted no time as he spotted a chance to retaliate after escaping that attack. He quickly activated his [bone breaker] skill and rushed back to land a blow!
The soldier knew he would be unable to defend in time so he braced himself and decided to let his armor's defense protect him.
BANG!
[Critical hit!]
[-17]
As expected, Mikel's attack caused little damage. The soldier smiled as he prepared to attack back, ready to finish him off with a single blow, but his plan quickly failed before it could even properly form.
BANG! BANG! BANG!
Consecutive critical hit notifications appeared in front of Mikel but he ignored them and concentrated on dishing out punches as quickly as possible.
Knowing that his attack might not yield the expected result, Mikel prepared himself to attack as many times as possible in that short window that presented itself while the soldier was wide open.
Seeing his life in danger, the soldier wildly swung his axe at Mikel, and the latter spotting this squatted quickly and managed to avoid the axe by a hairsbreadth.
Mikel then threw a kick while squatting and hit the soldier hard on his chin! This soldier swung down and Mikel kicked back off his foot that was still planted on the ground but there was no way he could avoid the axe fully while escaping in such a position.
The axe cleanly took off one of his legs and Mikel lost his balance and rolled on the ground and stopped a few meters away.
Mikel looked up at the soldier who stood there on guard, watching Mikel with cautious eyes.
It was at this point that Mikel saw the soldier's information bar.
[Name: third class Beltimian soldier
Lvl: 14
HP: 104/300]
He had shaved off a good amount from his HP, which would explain why the soldier was yet to attack despite it looking like Mikel was not in a good condition and was open to attacks.
The soldier was also cautious because he couldn't understand why Mikel was moving so quickly. He was obviously a grunt skeleton and should not be able to do that.
'is it a new type? I need to report this,' he thought.
Dust began to gather around what was left of Mikel's leg and it began to grow back as his energy stat reduced. By the time the leg grew back, the stat was reduced to zero.
[Be more careful now, it takes a while for the energy stat to return.]
'Understood.'
Mikel's arms were still glowing and he had six seconds left before his skill would go on cooldown. If he wanted to finish off this soldier, he had to do it within these six seconds. He was obviously more flexible than him so he would use that advantage to its fullest.
He placed one foot in front of the other and was about to propel himself toward his opponent when the fighting sense he had developed with years of rigorous fighting screamed at him to protect his head.
Mikel quickly raised his hands to the side of his head and a force so great, it destroyed his arms and made him do a 360 before landing hard on his side.
[-21 bone vitality]
He lay on the ground with both his hands crushed, only two [bone vitality] left and zero [energy].
In summary, he was fucked.
Mikel looked up to see that he had been hit by another soldier who wielded a Warhammer and was the cause of this pitiful situation.
The soldier raised the Warhammer intending to finish him off. Mikel's mind raced as he tried to figure out a way out of this hopeless situation.
[Name: Second class Beltimian soldier
Lvl: 21
HP: 580/580]
There was no way Mikel could fight off this soldier who just entered the equation, but he might stand a chance against the other one who was a few meters away.
The only problem now was getting to him. He only had about two seconds to make his choice or he dies and returns to that abyss till whenever he might be summoned again.
Seeing the hammer a few inches away from him, a thought appeared in his head.
'Would I be able to move like that? Well, there's only one way to find out...'
The purple flames in Mikel's eye sockets burned brighter as he made his right leg perform a complete 90-degree angle and touched his skull!
It was only due to the lack of muscles and tendons that he was able to do this. He then brought the leg down on the descending Warhammer and his foot touched the spot on the long handle between the hammer head and the soldier's arms.
Applying all the force that he could, Mikel pushed himself backward and slid on the ground away from the hammer's destructive attack!
Without even wasting time, Mikel stepped on his left leg and pushed off it while on the ground to propel himself forward. The force snapped his leg off from the knee joint but using that same force, Mikel used his skull to hit the ground and performed a flip then landed on his remaining leg but kept hopping towards his previous opponent!
The soldier panicked seeing Mikel so desperately moving towards him. He then swung out his axe to finish him off before he could get to him.
Mikel seeing the axe, spun off his leg and jumped over it. Now only a few inches away from the soldier, Mikel opened his mouth wide while in midair as he got closer to the soldier's face!
At the last moment, as Mikel was about to take a chunk off the soldier's face, he instead used what was left of his left arm to push himself away from him!
CLANG!
As Mikel landed on the ground, he could see that his plan had worked. In a hurry to kill him, the soldier had made a mistake and swung his axe at Mikel who was only a few inches away from his face! When Mikel escaped, the soldier had hit his face instead!
[Name: third class Beltimian soldier
Lvl: 14
HP: 4/300]
Seeing the information displayed, Mikel could see that just one attack was all it was going to take to kill the soldier! Without wasting a second more because Mikel could see that the other soldier was preparing to attack, he hopped up back upright and in the next second, his damaged right arm was off his shoulder and in his jaws!
Mikel spun and released his arm from his mouth and it rushed towards the soldier with the gathered momentum.

[Congratulations! ×1 enemy defeated!]
[Rewards: 30 exp]
[System booster activated: Relentless!]
[Multiply rewards: +30 exp]
[Level up! +2 stat points!]
Knowing that he was still in a fight, Mikel quickly used one stat point to upgrade his [energy] stat.
[Energy: 0/50 => 60/60]
Dust swirled around Mikel's lost limbs and they grew back as his energy stat reduced. In a few seconds, he was back to normal and he turned towards the other soldier who was brandishing his hammer and was watching him with curious eyes.
'I will most definitely die if I fight this guy, but I can't run either so I have no choice...' Mikel took on a stance.
'I'll rather die fighting than running.'
Alright, let me apologize for not keeping to the updating schedule. I was suffering from writer’s block but I got inspired to write tonight and penned this down. The writing schedule now is one per day and mass releases on weekends. How does that sound?
