Beloved By The Moon Goddess

The ancient scriptures often told the tales about the past successful events of successful entities. Emperors who had succeeded on their lives; kings who had won the race to the throne; and even Generals who had brilliantly won their battles. Other than that, those scriptures also reminded the living, about the horrible events of those old war times and the sugarcoated stories, of the victorious ones. But what it lacked, were stories about those who had failed miserably. Those who failed every single attempt to reach greatness; those who didn’t achieve their goals and primarily, those who had died while trying to do something. Talking about ancient scriptures... There was one at the peak of the Wolf King Mountain. It stood there, emitting a blinding light, that shot itself towards the stars. It’s just a pity, that no one had ever read its contents.

Agreement

"Very well." Galathor went forward and sat down together with the matriarchs, but at the opposite side of where they were. Between them, there was a big wooden table, where there were a few unimportant decorations.

Being the chieftain of the Grey Mane tribe, his position was the same as theirs, so he was the only one allowed to be part of that table. His subordinates and even his son, could only stay standing by the side, observing everything in silence.

After the leader of the Grey Mane tribe sat down, he quickly adjusted himself in order to reach the maximum state of comfort he could, before finally looking towards Randella.

"Have you heard of the recent rumors?"

Randella found it was a bit odd, for him to be bringing that topic to the table, but since it was something that really interested everyone, she couldn't help but want to know more.

"I heard about it. However, don't you think it is a bit far-fetched?"

"Ahaha, true. Indeed, it sounds like a fabricated fairy tale... But it's not."

After saying those words, he secretly observed the matriarchs and concluded by the slight trembling on their eyes, that even the powerful Southern Moon tribe matriarchs were not immune to what that topic referred to.

"Is that why you're trying to propose this alliance?" Randella asked. She previously thought the reason behind their alliance, was something with far less importance or that it was just a ruse to cover for what was actually the real reason. But her theories easily crumbled.

Galathor nodded, but he suddenly opened his mouth to add: "But it isn't the entire motive though."

"Then why?"

"Because my watchers reported that outside tribes, are going to get involved."

"You mean..."

"Yeah. It seems that a few tribes from the eastern parts of the Wolf King Mountain foot, had started moving towards our region. Heh! Did you think I was joking? This is a serious matter. I would never try to involve my tribe in an alliance, if it weren't for the seriousness of this situation."

The matriarchs frowned while hearing those words. If those rumors were true, then...

Randella didn't wait for her seniors to give her any directions and decided to ask something. As an experienced chieftain, she knew what her predecessors were thinking and was just acting accordingly.

"How about the details? And what are the conditions? I'm telling you that we will never hunt that beast together, if we don't reach fair enough conditions for this agreement!"

"I know, don't worry. First of all, what concerns me the most, is going to be the risk of getting interrupted by the outside powers. Hah... Heck, we will have our hands full while hunting that thing and there is the risk of suffering surprise attacks. That's why we should intelligently organize and split our forces, so we could defend our territories, whilst also being able to attack our primary target."

Before Randella could say anything, Galathor continued: "As for the beast... Even though my Grey Mane tribe is probably going to send a greater number of warrior than the Southern Moon tribe, we will hunt it down and split the treasures equally. As for the method, we could organize three different teams to hunt that thing separately, since the territory it is said to be, is really huge. Two of those teams are going to be constituted of our own pure forces. I will personally lead my team, while you could do the same for yours."

"It seems that you have thought of everything already, huh?"

"As a chieftain, I have to think about the best strategies and make sure my people walk into the safest roads, in order to avoid unnecessary losses. It is only a natural thing for me, to devise good enough plans."

Randella narrowed her eyes, but she didn't pursue the matter and decided to keep on hearing till the end.

"The third team could work as a safety measure. We will both send some of our elite fighters to form that specific team and let them take care of our backs. However, there is a catch..."

"What is it?"

"Well... Every single one of my warriors are men and it would be inappropriate to have women accompany them on this journey, don't you think so?"

"..."

"So, for the third team, I suggest you only send your male warriors. That way, it will not only avoid troubles related to gender, but we will be able to concentrate better in our hunt."

Before giving a concrete answer, Randella looked at the elders, trying to see what was their opinion on this matter. However, by doing so, she realized all three of them were lost in the same contemplative countenance, with their eyes shimmering in greed.

She didn't judge any of them, since hunting that beast down, could possibly get them a chance to climb up the Wolf King Mountain; something that no sane werewolf could resist.

After a brief moment of silence, Randella asked: "When will it begin?"

"Actually, we are having a tough time trying to track that fierce beast, as it can hide its real movements with Animus. So, we have yet to grasp the extent of its territory. While we are still gathering information, you could take that time to properly organize your group of people. I don't think any of the eastern tribes could get here, traveling for less than forty to fifty days. Coupled with the fact that they would need to gather information first, I would say we still have five weeks to safely hunt it down, before we encounter greater trouble."

"Good... Make sure to gather all the necessary information and send it to me. In twenty days, I will personally lead my people to the designated area. You can consider this temporary agreement is up."

"Ahahaha. That's what I was hoping to hear, chieftain Randella. Good! In a few days, we will hunt it down together, but meanwhile, I would like to discuss about another topic with you. It is nothing too serious, just something my son has had on his mind lately."
