Running

"You have to leave now. Their are three men and a woman looking for you. Belinda will get you to the car. The car will take you to the airport. We got together some food money and a passport for you. I also told my sister you were headed out. Now go."

I hugged her said thank her and Belinda and we ran for all we were worth. As the car started pulling away from the hospital I looked back to see several people looking out the window. Then I ran for my life.

I jerk awake and sat up quickly. Did I hear something in my sleep? Or was it just the fact that I don't want to think about the last few weeks and everything I have gone through.

First Belinda took us to a small private airport owned by her family. Her brother was the one to fly me to the United States. Unfortunately the plane had issues just outside of Canada. Luckily we went down with no casualties. While he was trying to fix the engine I saw a van driving up the field toward up. I pointed it out then he handed me two envelopes and a tracker machine with the schools location as my destination and told me to run.

After I ran off I used the machine to get me as far away from the plane as possible. When I stopped that night I opened both envelopes. One had an address book and five thousand dollars in it the other had instructions as to where to go and who I could reach out if I truly needed help. After that I fell asleep.

The next morning I was up before the sun. I started walking but I was so tired. I saw a small store so I went inside, I grabbed a backpack and a few bottles of water as well as some soda and a couple of bottles of iced coffee. I also grabbed some small bags of chips, a couple of sandwiches, and a few other snacks. I also grabbed a jacket as well as a brush and a few other things to try and stay clean. After I paid for everything I loaded the backpack and put on the jacket I started out my travel. The first thing I did was drink a bottle of ice coffee then started walking.

I stayed off the road in case those tracking me were close. On foot it took me a little over a week to make it half way through Canada. I was so tired but was afraid to stop and actually rest. One night it started raining at first it was a light rain. I kept moving since I still had a few hours of light. But as I walked I watched as the rain came down much harder as well as the wind kicking up. I knew I was in trouble. I started looking for some place to stay.

I saw a small hotel on the outskirts of the town I was in. I went in and rented a room. The women told me that I was only one of three people in the hotel and it was a good thing since we were in tornado lockdown. But not to worry this place is shored up and safe.

I was happy so I gave her a smile and got food to be sent to my room. Then I went to my room and had a shower. Then I ate and went to bed. I got comfortable and ended up sleeping through the storm. Once I did wake up I showered again, then I ate and paid for the days I slept through check out. Once the bill was settled I started on my journey again.

Another two week had passed and I finally made it to the border of Maryland. I was exhausted, but I couldn't rest because I was being followed. I knew their were at least seven people behind me. I have been unable to stop at a store to get food or water. I am doing the best I can but I am running on empty. According to the machine I am only about four hours away.

As I rush to get away from my follower I push as far as I can. I try to get to the red dot before I collapse. I am so tired, I am hungry, I need to be safe if that it even possible.

I push until it gets dark. I come to a fence with a wooded area on the other side. I try to find an opening but no luck. Finally I climb a tree and jump over the fence. I start running as I hear them coming to the fence. I don't look back as I hear them shake the fence. Then I end up falling into a lake as I run headlong to get away from them. Once I get out of the water I run on. I see some buildings come into view. I push myself as hard as I can as I hear them coming. I come around the left side of a huge house. I see a light so I go toward it.

As I get to the open door I fall into the arms of a tall man.

"They are after me. I am looking for Patricia. She is expecting me. Help me please."

Then the room goes dark.
